Kickers are typically used for trolling. Keeps hours off your big motor. In most cases, a have to have of you have a two-stroke main engine. I have to run a kicker to keep my Yamaha from fouling plugs and when running my downriggers, my big engine won't troll as slow as the kicker can.

I have a 2020 Targa 19, same set up as you but I have a 200 HP. I don't come close to 50, living at 6K feet, the best I can do is 42 mph. I s/h gone wit the 225. Go Big Blue!

I have a Ranger VX1888, it looks very similar to the Targa and also probably made by Tracker. But, up close the hulls are much different. I have the 200 ProXS and am able to get 54ish with the 4 blade prop. One thing to note having seen a few of those Targas running, from my position in the seat, the spray is behind me. Maybe you need to trim it up a bit.
What 4 blade you running? I have a rev 4 19 pitch only get 48 mph with same set up 1888 vx 200 xs just curious if I’m not trimmed right or lift jack plate up

Weight is with about 30 gallons of gas, 125lbs of gear, 2 trolling batteries, 1 Odyssey AGM start battery in the rear starboard box which is about 80lbs and me, about 195lbs. I'm trimming about 2 needle widths past half to get up to that speed and about 5400-5500RPM. Adding more people to the boat it will still run 50-52MPH. I've verified this not only on the gauges (the MPH is GPS based) but also on the graph GPS and the Vessel View monitor GPS, they all mesh together. You should look closer at the RPMs to get that 5400-5500RPM, I only found the extra revs adding more trim up. Also, my jack plate is a Slidemaster manual plate, best I can describe is the plate slides are even at the top. Good Luck! I'm actually contemplating a new Vexxus, Yar-Craft and some others at the moment. I love my VX1888 but we're planning to move in the spring, which brings about a new use case for a boat. I'd like to get a 450R on the new one, but probably settle for a 300 Pro XS. I with the 350 and 400 had the V8.
@@jesseevans385 Yes, that's the new thing it appears, 70mph + deep-v walleye boats. It comes at a big cost though to get that extra 15+ mph. I don't know that I need to go that extreme, but it will come down to actually writing a check. Occasionally with things like this I'll say, what the heck. Then pay another $35k.

Nice boat. I have a 2021 Targa Combo V18 with a 200HP, and a 9.9 Kicker Pro. I do enjoy opening it up on smooth water.

Seems low, I would have thought around 60mph. My buddy hits 44mph with a 150, full tank, 2 guys, pretty much the same setup as you.
About what you get. Takes a lot of extra horses and Benjamin's to bump up your top seep five to ten mph.
Trackers are heavy boats. Lunds are a little lighter.
Yeah...not sure how much different without looking but we prefer the all weld hull and the much more affordable cost.
Lund Tyee 1975 is 2,050 and the Targa is 2130, so 80 pounds.
