One of the many things I like about The Accidentals is that their songs sometimes target ages still decades away for the band members - yet they often hit the bull's-eye. It was true with The Silence and it's true here. No wonder their crowds are all ages.
I really marvel at The Accidental’s ability to relate to all ages and experiences. I’m 62 and this touches me deeply, made me cry but it was a good cry.
Cityview - Lyrics _____________________________ There’s something unnerving about the way nobody laughs when you peel back the past. Looking straight out in your hospital gown at the skyline that’s staring right back. Birds on a wire bloody sun, burning tires all the baggage you haven’t unpacked. People check watches their movement so cautious the beauty just falls through the cracks. [ Beyond the eyes The trains and the angels The arrows and the marigold The junk you never sold. All the laughter The breath that comes after The silvery voice in the wind, Saying keep going, you’ll find it again. ] Quarter-life crisis you crumble to vices the bottle ends up in your hand. Glass on the ground as your engine breaks down and the silent scream out like the damned. Travel the country your clothes are disgusting the greyhound is running its race. Don’t look in the window ‘cause you and I both know you can’t bear to see your own face. [ Beyond the eyes The trains and the angels The arrows and the marigold The junk you never sold. All the laughter The breath that comes after The silvery voice in the wind, Saying keep going, you’ll find it again. ] The birth of a daughter just makes you a father like a crown of thorns makes you a king. The wedding was a fever dream you did it for your self esteem and melted the wax on your wings It creeps in the corners keep looking forward your daughter won’t answer the phone. And who knew that leaving would just leave you bleeding ‘cause no-one likes being Alone. Mmmm, Hmmm mmmm. Mmmm, Hmmm mmmm….. End of the line and your seeing the signs yellow eyes and the sense of relief. A garden of memory in half of a century you know now that time is a thief. And all of your apologies can’t fix a tattered tapestry the pain’s woven in like a thread. And she will do great things And you will be watching From your Cityview hospital bed. Saying, keep going You’ll find it….
too many songs, sometimes you sidestep the best ones to not hit those nerves, This song is as good as it gets. Every element is in service to those lyrics. Scenes in every line. A propulsive pean to hope. Real change. Not catching up, not being reborn, or worse, being accepted...just being awake to those you love. bloody good video. and I do think Sav's lyrics are as good as Bob D at his best. The beauty just falls through the cracks.
You're wonderful guys! There are so many levels in which I can relate to this incredibly heartfelt song that brings back so many memories of my wonderful trip to Traverse City in 2019. I'm almost half-a-century old, I've two daughters and an older mom and in the last two years hospital life has unfortunately become a routine for me due to a debilitating chronic illness that I've developed in the meantime. This song hits really the bullseye for me: I even drank a coffee on the same table at Morsels during my stay in TC. Time is a thief! Hugs from Switzerland 🇨🇭
Such intricate melodies with beautiful lyrics, this vídeo captures a lot of powerful things in our day to day routine that passes through with the frenectic rhythm of the things. Sadie is such a good actress.
Saw your band yesterday at the Indie fest in Sanford NC. WOW, is what comes to mind first. You all are an amazing talented group. Love all the different instruments. Was floored by your entire set!! Glad that I heard of your group at this festival. Excited to continue to listen to your music!!
This is so beautiful and melancholy, I you did a great job of alluding to different personal struggles and narratives with the lyrics you chose. Listening to the song, there are so many stories I can imagine from just listening to the words. I can’t wait to see you all perform live tonight in Howell!

You guys get better and better, but you’ve always been gold. I still listen to Rainy Day whenever I wake up to a downpour. Just the most genuine spirits and music that understands and comforts the soul. Keep going!
absolutely love this song. have for awhile. the video is so cinematic. so involving, brilliant too. maybe you guys need to put your people on tighter schedules more often (just kidding).
Yay! New Accidentals dropped! By the way, two questions: 1. Will we ever get Tangled Red and Blue on Spotify? 2. Will we ever get a recording of your cover of Capsized by Andrew Bird available anywhere other than UA-cam?
ua-cam.com/video/15dexqCXZTc/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/wlmMumA0CMU/v-deo.html both have the weariness magic Accidental's Cityview has. Dreaming back / looking forward.
I cry every time😪

I love that this was filmed in Traverse City. Such a beautiful place to make such beautiful music. Keep up the good work. - A fellow Michigander

Bingo
You need a song featured in a series or movie STAT. This is gold.
