As a resident and a homeowner in the small town of Hope it is and was a beautiful building with a dark history behind it! Many tunnels ran underneath it so the slaves that were used to run that Mill weren't seen coming and going and the house that at least one tunnel went to still stands today.
Knew there was at least one tunnel that ran under the road in front to one of the houses. My understanding was that the mill owner wanted to be able to get to the mill easily despite what the weather was like. Did not know there were other tunnels used for slaves.
Beautiful BLUE WATER. Shame no one has been able over the years to turn these buildings into usable structurers. There is a section in OKC called (Brick Town) where they took many many old empty buildings and restored them into condos, all kinds of clubs, ect. Now it is a very vibrant (and expensive) part of the city. They even have a man made river through the city like the one in San Antonio, TX.
Amazing! Thank you for sharing!

@@Michael-RI yes there's a path behind the mill that leads up to the gazebo on rt 115 it's filled in now but there was a opening leading to a tunnel.
