Seems like a lot of the big throwers drop their front foot close, blocking themselves off. We try to coach against it but some of the greatest throwers have done that.
Wow Dane thanks for the vid, how exciting for you both, what an athlete Yaime is! I was fully expecting her to be the next Cuban to go beyond 70 m after that throw. Perfect situation leading up to Paris 2024, all the best!
I appreciate the commentary on how to approach the coaching of an athlete like this. The fact that you don't try to fix everything. Mean it's kind of scary you have somebody throwing almost 70 and you don't want to mess it up trying to fix things too much
I used to think along the same line, but as long as the technique worked for her, I thought it was ok. After all, stopping overrotating and getting the left leg around is the key to throwing far, so I do agree there. I can't wait for the fixes to come nicely next year!
Jurgen Schult blocked like that but definitely prefer the look of guys like Gerd Kanter. There is 1 movement that's completely continuous. My favorite thing to watch overall is that discus sailing out past 70m though.
She seems really jerky. But man something's working right? Just goes to show you that everybody has a different styles, and different things they have to work on. Everybody

Removing the energy leak...
Valerie Alguy has the spin.
What app are you using on your phone to draw on the videos? I'd love to do this for my throwers.

Because she's a demigoddess...
This is the only answer. Did I win a prize?
