BTW 1:52 - This video is this guys fault!! Haha! Thanks for making me aware of this random old piece of tech trash! And that's really weird that the mac version is better. (lol proof that mac is better?) I was really confused when you said it was aluminum case when I opened this keyboard up I was starting to think this wasn't the same one you were referencing. Does the mac one have actual metal on it?
For what it's worth, the rubber palm rest probably wasn't sticky when it was new - the sticky comes as the rubber breaks down. It's frustrating with old tech - higher end old ThinkPads and the backs of many phones from the 2000s decade used it as a nice grippy material, but it degrades into a sticky mess.
This “keyboard” is likely just a 4 port usb hub in disguise, with one port connected to a keyboard, one connected to a dock connecter, and 2 being a pass through.
Found this thing at a thrift store years ago. Used it with my iPod touch 2nd gen all the way until I got an iPhone 5s. Believe it or not, I loved the thing. I'd never go back to it now, but when you don't know what a good keyboard is, it's not so bad lol
@MasterKilokk The only keyboard you have is the best keyboard you have. I'm not keyboard snob, I use (and am typing this with) a 2003 A1148 apple keyboard. Membrane of course. But this apple membrane keyboard was supposed to be good when it was made, the iHome keyboard was never supposed to be good.
@@Kelson01 The reason I ended up switching was because I wanted a decent numpad. Then I got the new keyboard and immediately wept at the wasted years with the iHome.
"Why" might make for a better title now that I think about it. Not that it would make much difference youtube is allergic to showing my videos to people anyway.
7:13 touchbar catching strays lmaoo. I honestly love the thing but I completely get why it was so unpopular. In case anyone who owns a touchbar MacBook doesn't know - you don't have to first press the volume button, then adjust the slider. If you briefly swipe either left or right on the volume icon it will bring the volume up or down right then and there. Same goes for the brightness icon. I feel like this should've been advertised more.
@JoBot__ yeah probably lol it hits different with the Australian accent. Much more chaotic. I don't understand how to turn up my American accent like he can with his Australian accent, I think it would be funny to make an American parody like he does as a dankpods reference but I have no clue how to amp up my accent
old soft touch rubber seems to liquify over time. ive gotten a couple older products that the soft touch rubber is gooey and needs to be cleaned with soap/cleaner to get rid of the goo. its defintely not a "lifelong" product lol
@Kelson01 Possible via chroot command. Like as wsl, but running shared all of the hardware. Running linux subsystem on macos can be a thing, but kind of mess. Or to run linux container via docker. I will try this.
Holy shit, you just unlocked a core memory of mine. Someone affluent in my family gave this to me as a Christmas present. The fucking num pad was garbage straight out the box. Ew
@071086 hahah what did you do with it? I wouldn't be able to stand using this thing. The keys are so weirdly spaced it's actually annoying. It's not even the fact that it's a low quality membrane keyboard the key layout is soooo bad imo
I tried to find one to put up as a picture onscreen for this video but I couldn't locate one. Surely one must exist though even though it's a horrible idea LOL
my mac version seems to be way higher quality than the windows version other than the dead bug I found in mine :D

@ its definitely real. Bends, and keeps its shape unless you bend it back. It’s got aluminium like a MacBook.
@@OptiPlex-GX-280 darn now I want the mac version... ONE DAY!
It takes effort to design a product with such bad quality
Very slight defence for the keyboard, that rubber probably wasn’t as sticky 15 years ago, rubber degrades and all.
@@Mythxiir True that's because of age. But it's also not that nice of a rubber to begin with.

Seems to be the most likely option. No thought went into the design apart from "look, it's for iPod"

honestly i dont understand why people hate this guy, i love these videos so much
I'm not sure that it's the people, I think the algorithm hates me with a passion. I'm glad you love the videos! Thanks so much for watching :D
Wait, people hate him!?
@@fishingfan1500 I don't think so lol
I have an old dell Inspiron laptop (runs vista) and it has touch controls and it was finicky.
And the top shell had that sticky rubber that degraded.
“how was it 150?!” because of the price tag duh
Trueeee they forgot to remove the zero
@@Kelson01I think you meant “why” instead of “how”😅
@Datadread-official both though. How can they charge that much and expect people to buy it...

i swear i thought it was a dummy iPod lol 5:32
i had a lot of laughter with this video, you're funny, subbed
this has gotta be up their with worst ipod accessories ever
TRUE! It's so bad that it's hard to convey - The worst school keyboards are better... ESPECIALLY because of the numpad.
I bet the pause button seems to be a unethical attempt at making people think it has something to do with ipods and trick them into buying it
Yeah it appears to be

"let's unleash the disappointment" 😂
I didn't know how accurate that statement was... At that point I was still thinking it may be an acceptable product LOL.
It sounds like something DankPods would say.
@JoBot__ He didn't invent the english language did he?

1:10 My spare Wii was packaged in a large valveeta box. WHO NEEDS THAT MUCH CHEESE?!
welcome back 3lamestudio
There is no headphone jack because you can listen to your iPod music from iTunes, it's a feature 💯
Can't really be upset about the hinge coming open after bending the unit back and forth.
@GreenVibezIguanaDaddy Yeah that's not my problem with it. It just comes open far too easily in general.
4:40 was Apple inspired by this piece of junk when they decided the touchbar was a good idea?

If it wasnt dogshit quality and overpriced, it would actually be kinda neat. For like $30 that would have been sick back in the day haha
Why does this exist

Simce we're looking at silly things, is there a mouse with an iPod dock?
