I can tell you did well on any essays you had to write in school, story telling is incredible
Thank you so much jaden!
It’s awesome to see a fellow Missouri native getting to enjoy other trout fishing waters. Love your adventures.
Thank you so much Daniel!
Dude! That was a cool trip! Thanks so much for letting us tag along!
A solid day trip is just good for the soul!!
Great stumble on! Solid camera work, greay location, excellent writing. What's not to like. Subscribed.
Thank you so much Blaine! Appreciate the support!
Thank you for this great video with your good stewardship of our Idaho streams!
@FLY ALL SZN I love your videos. Great fishing content, and pleasant, thoughtful, almost poetic dialogue. Just returned home to the driftless, from a trip to bear country myself. Beartooth pass in MT, and WY.
Thank you so much Malik! Hopper season in the driftless is going to be an absolute treat!
The commentary throughout the video feels like a video essay- awesome. Great video
Video Essay? I will take it! Wish I could have showed these to my English teacher back in the day lol
My first viewing of your videos, fantastic job and thanks for being a kind respectful steward of the Trout and the wilderness
Love your productions and stories! Thanks for sharing your trips, and discoveries!
Thank you so much Todd!
Great script writing. And your trash clean up is setting a great example. Subscribed!
Thanks Mike for another great video, lots of cutties, beautiful scenes, great fishing, neat water photography. Excellent job.
Thank you so much Lee!! It was an absolute blast
Absolutely awesome! I have fished that little gem( Idaho/ gem state/ pun intended) of a stream since the early 60's with the family! I will have to show this video to my 90 year old dad, who can't get out and go anymore. Good Job!
I appreciate that! Glad you liked it!
Always watch your vids before I go out fly fishin myself! Gets me pumped!
Hell yeah! I love it!
Thoroughly enjoyed your trip, it was relaxing, yet entertaining. Your penchant for vocabulary is also recognizable as you walk along the trail and stream.
Thank you so much Manuel! I just try to say how I feel!
To each is own. It's this syrupy "penchant" and waiting for the meat of his videos that have me FFing through them.
Great video sure looks like a lot of fun.ihave life plans to move to the Teton valley Idaho side in the next few years. I can’t wait to start finding fish and rivers like this one. Awsome
Thank you! It’s amazing out there
Great session Mike, beautifully done!
Thank you so much Scott!!
I stumbled across your channel this past weekend and have been binge watching it as I am down with a wicked cold rather than out ice fishing. You are doing great work. It’s not easy combining decent videography and any activity as a one man show.
Thank you so much Jason! I am so glad you enjoy it!
My favorite fresh water fly fishing channel🤙just solid all the way around
Thank you so much!!
Loving’ the content Mike! Keep it coming.
The grind dont stop! Thank you!
Fantastic video! ❤
Really enjoy your adventures. Thank you.
Thank you so much! So glad I can take you along!
Idaho sure is beautiful State. I have old friend moved out there, he said when I come down visit him, we will hit trout fishing! Maybe next year I'll go out there fishing! Awesome catches and your videos are awesome, lots information you give out for fly fishing, and safety in the hiking
Idaho is fantastic! I highly recommend you go visit them ASAP!
@@FLYALLSZN I'll have to wait until next year, since I only have one day left vacation, and I'm going to use it in November, fly fishing tournament, Saturday and Sunday at Blue river Oklahoma!
Amazing as always!!
Wonderful video. Very close to a John Muir narration. Not many people know about this side of the reservoir. Glad to see it still fishing well.
I commented on one of your other videos and felt compelled to comment once again. I love your videos and by the amount of equipment that you haul around I'm certain it's extremely hard work! No that your videos
I wanted to add know that your videos are very much appreciated. I really enjoy your narration and I'm certain you are keeping good notes and I look forward to the book that's in your future! Scott
Thank you so much Scott!! A book? I don’t have the first clue how to write! I really appreciate that
Didn’t expect to see Fly South represented on an Idaho video! Local shop for me. Just got back from backcountry Idaho. Some great cutties. Good content man!
Thank you!!
Great video of this day trip! Awesome job.
Thank you so much Dave!
a little late to the party, great video from that particular trail, very healthy creek! Thanks for sharing!
Dude, just found your channel and holy shit am I jealous. Your videos are taking me out of this Texas heat and back to the places I love to chase trout. Keep em' coming sir, tight lines!
Hell yeah Patrick! Thank you so much for the support!
Fished this location all throughout the summer very beautiful!
It is really nice! I went so high up and it seemed to just get better!
Beautiful bohemian backcountry in your own private Idaho polishing some trout zen with da glazz! Another great production. I'm planning to hit Idaho and Wyoming big empty next summer for a month Mike! Recon Release and Remember my friend, always well done!. Peace Bro!
I really really really love your videos man.
Thank you so much!! I really appreciate your support!
I've fished that particular creek dozens of time a year for decades with 0 bears, but a few moose. The bears are in the area, but that creek gets a decent amount of traffic, though the fishing is never crowded.
With grizzly territory expanding it is always good practice to carry bear spray. Better to be safe than sorry
As always another entertaining video. Excellent indeed! Thank you for sharing your journey. There's something almost, Flip Pallot esgue with your narration too. Soothing, maybe, interesting stuff, of course.
Thank you so much!! I just try to say what I see and remember what I feel!
Wow a Flip reference. Anyone who remembers him is a legend in their own right. Right back to the days of espn outdoors and the fishin hole!
@@Jon626 flip is THE man! Even as he’s up in his years, he’s such a reel guy too. I’ve had questions in the past and he always answers my emails.
Congrats on breaking the 10k mark with subscribers!!!!
Thank you so much Derrick!
Nice spray holster. I've got the exact same one. Also, seems like every time I fish that water the wind in blowing. You picked a nice day.
It’s built to last! I think I’ll be rocking it for awhile! It must have been! Just enough breeze to get the bugs moving
Great fishing video.
Thank you so much!!
Always a great vidio. 8/28 I'm headed to Co. Bar lazy j ranch.. on the Co. River. Life is to short..enjoy now.
Thank you so much!! That’s sounds like an awesome trip!
Only little black bears up there no grizz your chilling dawg
Dude… I love you channel. If I ever get where I’m going, my fishing journey will look a lot like yours. Back backs n fly rods 🏴☠️
-Mr100kilos
Hell yeah! Thank you so much!
Your fishing in my dreams brother !!!
I’m extremely lucky to be doing what I’m doing!
Love that stream .
It was an absolute treat Aden!
Well done man.
Thank you Dylan!
Another great adventure!
Thank you so much!!
Dropped a handful of fish and u wonder y they are banged up, u dropped one from should height
totally enjoyed the video man
Thank you very much!!
Two thumbs up!
Thank you Arthur!
Awesome video!
Thank you so much!!
This was a good one but I was a particular fan of the video on the gunnison and then the camping trip with your family. If you ever make it to CT id be happy to show you some prime rivers to fish.
Sorry! Hard to replicate those two videos! I might have to look into the CT trout scene
@@FLYALLSZN Farmington River, 21 miles of tailwater fishing. Wild browns can push 20". Housatonic river is a giant beast full of wild browns. Mix in a bunch of streams with native brookies and you have yourself an adventure. Ive been focused on tuna/stripers lately but cant wait to get the long rods out this fall!
Great fishing up there. I wish the waters in NM higher elevation were better but they aren’t. Planning a trip out of state very soon.
It can be a bit tough in New Mexico the higher you get!
New video lets gooooo!!!
Hope you enjoyed!!
Great production value and I love the story you tell. Just discovered you and can't wait for more. Great job. I'll be in Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park for a month beginning 9/9. Any suggestions for places to fish? Have a great fall.
Fish below the damn of Estes lake, on the big Thomson tailwater, on the right bank before the first bridge on the river, I was there 2 weeks ago and was crushing them in a hopper dropper
Thank you so much Tom!! I would call a ranger station and get an update on some of the high mountain lakes! If they aren't frozen yet (which I doubt) Those are always a blast!
Great day
Also the Teton River canyon above where the dam failed.
Thank you Frank I will have to check it out!
Awesome video. Just subscribed and looking forward to more videos. Kind of a bummer that motorcycles are allowed on that trail.
Thank you so much Sean! Yeah it sucks but it happens! Truth be told, they are a good tool to help maintain trails.
Those shoes you found are whats left over after a grizzly attack......
"That's a big fish!"
"oh, it's a white fish"
Classic, we've all had that experience before
Love catching them! But I was so excited when I initially set the hook 😅
Hey man, love the content. Can I ask what creek and trail you were on? Thanks for making the great videos I’ve loved watching them.
So good
Thank you so much Jane!
Would you recommend getting a glass 3 wt over a graphite one for situations similar to this video? Loving the videos man.
I mean you can! I really like mine! But it is not exactly necessary
Congrats on 10k! It’s only up from here!
Thank you so much Aaron!
Nice video, beautiful trip. What is the phone/device on your pack strap? Thanks
Thank you William! I use an garmin device called an inreach mini.
On the STIMI BABY WOOOOOOOOOOOOO
You know what the mf deal is 😤💪🏼
Man I love your videos. Have you fished the Gunnison between Crested Butte and Gunnison? I am heading there in 2 weeks after Fishing in Cherokee NC
Thank you so much! I’ve fished the gunnison but not that section I don’t think!
@@FLYALLSZN I have done a bit in Rocky Mountain national par and really loved the Higher alpine lakes there.
6:53 That fish is a Cutt Rainbow hybrid. Yellowstone cutts generally have no spots on their heads.
I sure caught a lot this summer with spots on their head! Sometimes nature adds in a bit of variation compared to what the field guide drawing shows you.
@@FLYALLSZN That's true. I'm just repeating what I learned in graduate school and from fish biologists and Idaho fish and game officers. Those fish in Bear creek have been hybridizing with rainbows stocked in Pallisades for decades so no suprise there are lots of hybrids
Looks like a good day on the water. Here's an idea for you. Why not ditch your conventional rods and use a Hardy Ultralite NSX SR Fly Rod? These are light 6-section rods and are very easy to carry. I had picked up the prior generation Demon Smuggler (905-6) and it's amazing. The rod tube is 22", so it fits anywhere. They aren't cheap, but worth every penny. I actually picked up the 5,6, and 8wt from a dealer in the UK. With the Dollar at parity against the Euro, it makes them reasonable. Heck, once you start getting monetized from UA-cam, you can write off off as a business expense. 🙂
Shoot that sounds amazing! I’d like to get my hands on a demon smuggler just for the name alone! I don’t “need” another rod but I might have to look into it!
@@FLYALLSZN I'm right there with you regarding the don't need another rod thought. If you google what I gave you and add the word review to the end, you should get to a fly shop out of Ireland. The guy reviewed both the 4wt and 5wt. Here's another great rod to check out. I picked up the Lamson Purist 4wt. The rod is stunning. It fishes like a $900 rod but costs $400. The downside is it's a 2-piece. I know a fair bit about rod design and the video presentation on their website was amazing. I was torn between getting the Purist and the Hardy 6-piece but went for the Lamson as I already had a 6-piece.
What kuiu pack is that? Also great video man keep up the great work
That is the Venture 2300! Cant recommend it enough
West Slope Cutthroat are notorious for delayed takes. I always do an “oh shit” then set. You almost can’t wait too long
Right! They get me every time!
Was this on the North Fork, South Fork, or main stem? If still in Idaho you should try the Henry's Fork canyon below Mesa Falls.
You might have this river confused! This was an isolated drainage
IDTS but don't want to give it away. The South Fork of the Snake also has a bunch of tribs with cutthroat trout I've always wanted to try.
Fishing looks great but how can you have tranquility if you are always looking for bears.
Going into bear country and busting through brush with only bear spray does not seem really wise. I am thinking a good 10mm on ones chest might be warranted.
The best tool you have, is the best tool you have. I have since carried both in the backcountry! But if you only have bear spray then thats the best tool.
Wondering if attaching a bell to yourself would alert any Bears in the area.?
Maybe! I know folks do! But I’d rather sing or just “hey bear” my way down the trail
You did pretty good at keeping the name of place to yourself. I even see a few comments you’ve responded to saying no wrong place. But you mistakenly have a short clip of the trail head name. Which there is only one trail in Idaho close to the greater Yellowstone area named that. Regardless nice video.
That’s the point.
The point is to hotspot a gem that you fished once with 19k people so you can ruin it for everyone else? Yeesh..
So, whitefish are good table fare? Curious - never caught one.
I’ve had em many times before and they’re great!
47 watching off the rip. Super sick dude! I recently moved to southern Idaho. Need to find a few more places to fish around here! Gonna go try my first FAS ADD tonight (if I get off work in time)
Thank you Riley!! There is no shortage of amazing spots in Idaho!
@@FLYALLSZN amen to that!
do the hike in birks next time
We both know I dont have the constitution for that
Sad to say that for the five years of.fly fishing idaho . I have never caught a mountain whitefish
WHAT?! They are an absolute blast!
What kinda boots do you use
Just depends on the adventure! I just went over it in my most recent gear vid!
Idaho babyyy
The gem state!
Idyllic. Fine-spotted's?... or West-slope's?
I will have to double check but i am fairly certain those were fine spotted!!
Nothing worse than trashy people leaving trash in the wild.
Two thumbs up!
