Thoughts? How about the fact that Skip and Shannon don't know that Bob Hayes played for the 1971 Cowboys that won the Super Bowl by destroying Miami 24-3 in Jan of 1972. Okay, so Shannon was only 3 years old back then. But, Skip just bragged in this segment about how his knowledge the NFL goes back quite a ways. Well, apparently, not far back enough. That is absolutely pitiful for a guy who spent years covering the Cowboys and wrote 3 books about them.

@Harry Balls you misunderstand me. The helmet thing is just the icing on the refball cake. Every sportscaster at the time was saying that the Lions got robbed because of that PI flag that the refs picked up instead of enforcing against the Cowboys. I don't root for either team, just stating the facts. Even Skip admitted that it was a bad call, but claimed that the Cowboys would have found a way to win even if the call hadn't gone their way. His position was unprovable, but might have had some validity if the Cowboys had found a way to win the next week against Green Bay when the call didn't go their way.

Pettigrew's hand briefly glanced off Hitchin's helmet as he was trying to get his arms around the guy to catch the ball, but he certainly never impeded Hitchins' ability to turn around (it would have been too late by then, anyway). It was a blatant face guarding penalty that the Cowboys got away with, followed by a blatant unsportsmanlike when Dez came off the sideline without his helmet to scream at the refs.
