Thanks for making these videos! In my case, I view the importance of manners in Japanese society as something really special. When I was a kid I was constantly confused by other people’s actions like “why do people cut in line” or “why do my classmates like to cheat on exams” or “why do people have to shout and be disrespectful” and after finding out about Japanese culture and society it kind of made me feel like something finally made sense to me. It’s not easy for some to put social harmony above their own desires and wants, but if everyone tries to do their best for the world around them, I think the world would be much better, kinder and cleaner.
I visited Japan in March 24 and one thing that I noticed about manners that disappointed me was that people rarely give up their seats to people who need them. But overall, Japanese people have better manners than any other country.
Well, in countries where healthcare is "free", the pay comes from the taxes so, in a way it's not like it's 0%. My country does have such system but if you ask me, feels like my taxes pay more than the 30% would and I don't get my money's value. Heck, I have to get by here by using the healthcare provided by my company or sometimes pay from my own company duo to how inneficient public services are. Also, last year I was on Japan and my mom had to check on her leg in a hospital. I was surprised at how polite the staff was, how fast the service was and more importantly, how affordable a consultation with no-prior appointment with a x-ray end up costing.

I start to understand more Japanese language after listening to your podcast. Thank you.
