The Portland Trail Blazers traded for Jerami Grant from the Detroit Pistons of the National Basketball Association (NBA) to team up with their all-star Damian Lillard and upcoming youngster Anfernee Simons. They are seemingly trying to still be a decent team even after trading CJ McCollum to the New Orleans Pelicans. I can't for the life me understand why. I thought they were going to go for a full rebuild after getting rid of McCollum and Norman Powell.

They traded Mccollum because Portland felt like Simons can be a cheaper, younger, more athletic version of Mccollum. With the assets acquired from tanking and mid-season trades, their goal was to re-allocate money and upgrade both forward spots. They just upgraded one forward spot with Grant, and now they are trying to upgrade the other forward spot with their remaining assets, 7th pick, Josh Hart, Nassir Little, whoever. I'm not saying I agree with what Portland is doing but I'm fairly sure this is the thought process.
