Thanks for the easy to understand steps. The link you gave to the item no longer works. Can you please provide the exact part numbers so I can buy the same items for my MK6 Jetta?

With this can you just leave it on auto and the lights go off when you kill the car or do you still have to turn switch off?

Colby McDonald you can just leave it on auto. When you shut off the car, in the dark, By default it will be on coming home mode, and the lights will stay on for 30 seconds then shut off. If there’s light outside, then the lights would just be off.

Dude..... Your Jetta is the same color as mine..... And has the same rims!!!!!!!!! But the only thing I don't understand is why you removed the fuse panel under the dash when it didn't get used.

Hello, thanks for the installation video. I have a 2012 Jetta SE 2.5 and was wondering if you have had any issues or irks since installing this mod. I see some vehicles need a trigger wire for some functionality, did you need to install one for your car?

Nope, I've had no problems with it so far. The installation was pretty straightforward and all the equipment that I needed was included in the kit, I didn't need the trigger wire.. If you're talking about the sensor itself, it's attached to the switch. The only thing that I changed with this specific switch was the tunnel lights mode; This is where your lights turn on automatically when it senses that you've entered a tunnel. I turned it off because, it would turn on every time I go under a bridge but, it was a simple setting to change.

Eube Pooter you can get the trigger wire on amazon, for my 2016 Jetta. I don't need it because there is already a wire where the trigger wire was suppose to be.

Hello, and thanks for such a simple and easy to understand tutorial. Will my interior lights come on automatically as well? And do you think the switch will work on my 2011Jetta SE 2.5? I’ve seen in a few places where it says it wouldn’t be compatible but my car is super similar to yours.

Thank you! Glad you enjoyed it. Your interior lights are controlled with separate switches, located on the headliner in the front and middle of your car. You can set the interior lights to always be off, always on, or auto. Switch them to auto if you want your interior lights to come on when you open a door or unlock your car.
Yes, the switch will work on all of the MK6 Jettas, one thing to keep in mind that there are two styles of the switch, the fat connector one (like the one I installed) and the mini connector style. Just take out your switch before ordering the part and see which style you have. Installation should be similar to what I have.
Let me know if you have any more questions, and what your final result is like!

That Guy Sketch Thanks for such a prompt and descriptive response. I believe I asked my question using the wrong terminology. Lol. I meant to inquire about the radio knob lights, climate control lights, speedometer lights, will those lights come on when the auto switch senses darkness? I read somewhere that they don’t.

Oh yes, definitely! As you know with the regular off/on your interior lights (dash, clusters, knobs, etc.) will turn on when you are in the "on" position. With the switch that's linked above the radio knob lights, climate control lights, speedometer lights, will come on when the auto switch senses darkness. You get three settings with this one; Off, low-light, and no-light. When low-light is active (usually around dusk/dawn) all of your interior lights are on and your running lights are on. When no-light is active (at night) then all of the interior lights are on and the headlights are on too.
