  • This is the 5th road trip video in the series and the first part of our Burren trip, taken during the covid-19 pandemic, on the 31st of July 2020. Restrictions were partly suspended to allow for people in Ireland to go on staycations while travellers from other countries were not allowed in without a two-week quarantine. This meant quiet roads and towns. (We had actually never seen it this quiet in summertime.)
If possible, please watch at the highest 4K definition (2160p), for a better quality video experience, even when you don't have a 4K screen. 1440p also gives a good picture on bigger screens while 1080p and 720p will probably be fine on smaller screens.
We’re in County Clare this time, starting on the N85, not too far from the village of Inagh, travelling west through gently rolling hills and lush green countryside to the town of Ennistymon. Just when we come into the town, traffic is stopped and we get a little surprise. After Ennistymon we take the N67 to Lisdoonvarna. We drive through the town and continue on the N67 in the direction of Galway. About 8 km outside of Lisdoonvarna we get our first views of the Burren hills and when we get to Corkscrew Hill, we can see them in their full glory. Via Corkscrew Hill we travel on to Ballyvaughan and stop a short while later to enjoy the view. We pass Muckinish West tower house, drive on for a bit and then stop again to enjoy the view. This is where the video ends.

Yes, we miss it too. We haven't been able to travel on those roads for months due to the lockdown that only allows us to go 5 km from our house for recreation. As soon as we're allowed to travel again, we'll be out there, all going well, shooting more videos. :)
