I love this channel. Todderbert is clearly a major enthusiast at levels that speak to me. The only issue I have is......I watch a review.....I want to buy that radio!!! Magic magic magic. If I found myself browsing your collection in real life......I'd never leave (and not in a weird way either). Thank you for your careful, considered expertise.
My orange Tecsun pl-368 literally just arrived today. Thanks for the great review. It definitely helped me make up my mind on getting this particular receiver and adding it to my collection. Just waiting for it to fully charge and then take it out for a spin.
Thanks for the great video...in my opinion this is the best radio ever. It covers almost everything in addition to the nice looking with affordable price I am so happy to have it.
Mine arrived from China today. I bought it off Ali Express. I must say, I’m impressed with it. The form factor, direct frequency entry, sensitivity and the colour make this radio worth buying. It also has the same “hidden” features as the PL-330.
Has anyone else noticed the radio makes a low static hum from the speaker at all times when the radio is turned off? Put your ear to the speaker and listen. I’m wondering if I have a faulty unit.
Hej Todderbert and good morning or or rather evening where you live thanks for reviewing the Tecsun PL-368. What I like about the new Tecsun PL-368 is that now we have a keypad as well love it. Great FM reception but not a good way to enjoy without the good headphone experience. My Pl 390 always did better with the whip antenna than the plug in wire it came with. Great functionality for such a compact radio have always liked the Tecsuns for that.
Lovely radio but I have a serious problem with my PL-368 with fw version 3682, the other day I had it on charge, when I took it off charge and turned it on the AM section (MW,LW,SW) was completely deaf...even using the "hidden" feature by long pressing 3 for internal vs external antenna made no difference, it's completely useless now (except FM is fine) so is there was way to reset this radio?
Are you planning on doing a review of the ATS100? I do not see them on Amazon, but are on Ebay. The reviews on UA-cam are not very good, and you always do a great job. Hi thanks for your video. I would like to buy this receiver. I live in Italy. I would like to buy it to listen to AM Radio Stations. Here is my question. Does that cross-shaped AM antenna, does it boost the signal? Does it help to receive AM radio stations better?
Yes, it comes with the external MW antenna. It is a must. If you have strong local MW stations nearby, you may not need it, since the radio has a tiny internal ferrite antenna built in, but is not effective for more than thirty miles away.
If this radio is so good , why my old Grundig is eating it up on FM ? My friend has bought it to get some FM stations in poor signal area , where we live , he can get 3 Fm stations , old Grundig RR 710a 10 stations . We tested in my palce .
Hi Todderbert, I was eying the PL368 since the past few months and finally great to see your review. Thinking of getting one soon. However, I have some questions and would be grateful if you can respond. Just a week ago I had got the XHDATA D808 which is considered to be superb in MW, SW and FM bands. I live in New Delhi and tuning in the MW I get just one local broadcast while no DX stations. Infact MW band is full of QRMs and RFI. In the Shortwave bands I get mostly Chinese broadcasts which is very strong. With the supplied external antenna wire I tried BBC world service and other English Broadcasting radio stations without any success. So was the case with SSB bands when I tried monitoring the Ham radio frequencies What could be the reason for this? Will the PL368 too behave in the same way as XHDATA D808 at my location? Hope 'Ironman' who loves these radios will assist with an appropriate response 73 New Delhi
Wow, I've just compared the FM reception on my new PL-368 & an Android cellphone. The latter catching more stations and has much clearer and stronger signal than Tecsun even with an extended antenna
Someone, ANYONE! PLEASE TELL ME HOW MANY HOURS I CAN GET OUT OF A BATTERY!! I cant find anyone on the internet to give me a real answer. Most people say "Ive had it for a few days and battery life seems good." It is a deciding factor if I get the one with AA batteries that can be replaced or if the rechargeable will suffice.
go with a AA version. the bl-5c provides eight to twelve hours of use for me before needing a recharge. longer if using headphones. The AA version should triple the time, because they are usually 3,000mAh capacity versus 1020mAh.
This is a great upgrade - they are going to sell a few container cars of these. I have the US version, IMO, that is the version I would tell someone to buy because of the extra features you highlighted. I have the Chinese version as well and note no difference on sensitivity and reception. Having the keypad makes this desirable as well. Wish we had radios like this in the 60’s-80’s when the bands were loaded with international stations. It’s pretty good on MW with the plug-in antenna. One thing you turned the radio toward transmitter locations but people who never owned this radio should note you can rotate the plug-in antenna itself for the same effect. kind of like an itty bitty Panasonic RF-220. Also, the knobs on the side of the plug-in antenna can be turned and reportedly aide in fine tuning - for myself I have seen no appreciable improvement doing that. The MW antenna will get blocked and not rotate full 360 if you use it with an earphone plugged-in so simply in one direction or or the other and it works fine to tune-in. There is a third party plug-in antenna that pops up on eBay, it is larger and heavier than the supplied Tecsun antenna. Beware, if you buy one use gingerly reportedly it an break the antenna jack if used roughly. I have one, it improves reception on some MW signals and I have read other comments that people like it. There is a new County Comm version with the Tecsun upgrades coming out (but no yellow,j - reportedly it is exactly the same as the PL-368 with the exception that the telescoping antenna on the CC is supposedly heavier grade metal than Tecsun used on the PL-368. Search for yourselves for more info. One last thing when I use the PL-368 with the traditional Apple EarPods they introduce interference, a scratchy noise, and to use them you have to pull them out a hair on the earphone plug - I had zero issues with any other earphones. Great overview. I really like this version it’s a lot of fun like you said.
@@todderbert Hi again! so i got the 368, - i dont understand the "syncronous detection"?? what does it do?? i turned it on and only got more hissing sound!! Is there any DX - LOCAL control on the radio? - i also bought the Tecsun AN-48x antenna - greetings Levi
