Last year, there was this coworker I had a huge crush on. My first ever "real" crush actually. I was 19, she was 22. We became best friends and as time went by, she began to confide in me. We began to share each other's life problems and such. One of her's was her boyfriend of four years. She expressed how despite the fact he was "always ready to impress", she felt like he saw her as simply "icing on the cake", and that he'd eventually meet someone better. I absolutely refused to show any interest in her romantically, and just kept telling her that everything would be ok and that he loved her. Wishing they'd be "holding hands by New Years Eve". Often, she'd just end up going on and on about her memories with him, to the point where she even opened up about their sex life, in detail. Me being pure, young, with no experience whatsoever, hearing all of this secretly crushed and hurt me, but I still took every bit of it. After that she took a job abroad, and flew to a foreign place. Promised me and everyone of us she'd stay in touch. She wrote me a farewell letter, in it she said she wanted to see me again someday. That entire time, I refused to love her. Even if she really was leading me on, I refused to return anything back. It wasn't until she was gone that I came to terms with my feelings. But in the end, I knew I would've made it much better on my own. It's only been a few months since she's gone. But I still feel the same way. Because I was one of the only ones who knew.

Ye, when still there's memories, moments or a *life* to be made, promises cannot stop the change. People change. No matter how many promises or how many times you tell someone that you won't leave them, everything chance. e-v-e-r-y-t-h-i-n-g. and we can just accept the change because time waits for no one, and the promises or an "I love you" are not certificates for nothing.
