    Very convincing and I totally agree for the 18 that I own. You definitely peaked my interest for the 33, although I really am looking forward to the new 23. ( and likely the new body with the 40MP totale full advantage of these new lenses)

    I don't do professional gigs, I have kids and the 33 f1.4 is phenomenal for family life. A bit wider than my 35f2 and so much faster auto focus. The 33 lives on my X-E4 and love pick up the camera and using it every day.

    Nice review. I do love my 35 f1.4 but it has its quirks. I use the 50-140 professionally (portraiture), but I think I'll trade out the 35 for the 33 as I need something fractionally wider and professional grade.

    Thanks for the review you have a no nonsense approach from a working professional which is refreshingly honest. I have the 18 f1.4 and it's superb - a jump in image quality from Fujifilm. When the 33 1,4 is available at my local camera store I'll be picking that up. I hear Fujufilm are working on a 56 1,2 version 2 with the same 40 Mp resolution coming late next year. Fuijifilm lenses were part of the reason for switching from Canon DSLR systems.

      Same here with the lenses. I’m old so the giant lenses are just not for me anymore. And I do love the X-Pro form factor. I am really looking forward to the 56 v2 and if it’s anything like these, it’s worth the weight.
      And thank you. I do work as a photographer full time (since 1982) so I understand how important it is to get honest opinions.

      I recently picked up that 33 f1.4 and it's of the same quality as the new 18. But my main point was there are a lot of loud voices on the internet that shout about every Fuji lens should be as small as possible (the f2 lenses) and what are Fuji doing making bigger lenses?! Er not as big as FF lenses. Yet a) Even Fujifilm cannot change the laws of physics and b) When you are paid as a professional as we both are we really do need that extra bit of image quality, focus speed and low light performance (I shoot Weddings). Again, good to hear a no nonsense (experienced) voice.

    Great points about the debate between the newer XF lenses and the older lenses when using commercial jobs - for you there’s no reason why you shouldn’t invest in yourself and I think all these new lenses are must haves for those who are getting paid.
    For the hobbyists this lens isn’t worth the price or needed but for someone who’s going to beat the hell out of this lens in order to create something for clientele they are no brainer.

      I’m not a pro but I got the new 33mm to use for photo and video and it’s great. I found the 35mm F2 focus breathing really distracting in continuous AF in video. The new lens is breathing corrected. As Fuji is improving video features a lot in the cameras I think there is demand for some more optimized prime lenses.

    I was hoping for something to convince me to get one over the other, but looks like both are better together. I put the 16mm on the xt4 and haven't switched it out for another lens since and its so close to the 18 in several ways that's tough to thinking about having both. The 18 looks like it will be better across the whole frame though. Advice I found helpful when starting out was to invest in good lenses and glass, and into lenses that are a joy to use.

    • @kaskoPhoto
      @kaskoPhoto  2 роки тому

      Well if you are good with the 16 keep that for now and get the 33. I know the 16 is amazing. But it also matters on what you will be shooting. I use the 18mm mostly for events. It is perfect for me in that shooting situation. And I use the 33 for people / studio work.

I have a Pentax k-1 with a 50mm and the 16 on x-t4 which seems to work well with moving frequently and capturing both isolated with the 50 and group shots with the 16. New to Fuji. Love the 18 and 33. Would like to get the 90 but doubting. Because of the gap between the 33 and the 90. The new 56 is not all that. The viltrox 75 1.2 sounds great but not the fastest AF also. Tips on how to best fill the tele end?

    • @kaskoPhoto

      That is a hard call. As good as the 90 is (and on the 26mp sensor it is damn good) I would also be tempted by the 75 V. I mean if you’re shooting sports, yes, be concerned at auto focus.. but if the fastest action you are going to shoot is running kids or a wedding… I wouldn’t be too concerned about AF

    I have and love my X E4 and use it with the 18mm f2 , my preferred focal length, which is an older noisier lens. I know the news lens is quieter, but how much does the 18 1.4’s size and weight affect the walk around use on the smaller body?

    • @kaskoPhoto

    Oh I really hope they make a new 56! I own both the 56 APD (for its small size and weight) and the 50 f1 (for its weather sealing and fast focusing). If they make a new 56, with weather sealing, I will be able to replace both those lenses with that new 56.

    I just got the Fuji XT3 and the new 33mm F1.4 Fuji lens. When I am on Aperture priority mode I can see and hear the aperture blades constantly opening and closing. The lens makes a pretty distinct clicking noise constantly. However on the Fuji X100V the aperture blades are completely silent when opening and closing. Is there something wrong with the 33mm lens. Why is the 33mm making that clicking noise but the X100V is silent?

    • @kaskoPhoto
      @kaskoPhoto  2 роки тому

      Well the 100v is a completely different animal. The lens is a Leaf Shutter and completely different then other lenses. Now when you say constantly opening and closing and making noise- what exactly do you mean? Like the camera is turned on and just changes the aperture randomly? Or when you half press or use focus button? Or when you are actuality capturing an image?
