Thank you and G-d Bless you for this. I started this 11 years ago. It no longer "feels" right to say it in English the way I learned in church as a kid.
Bo-young Stephanie Please understand that The OT is The Father and The NT is The Son and they are ONE. Where do you begin to read a book? From the BEGINNING.. our Saviour ALWAYS pointed to The Father..
@@therealcamper4689 - it’s funny you say this, because many of us are taught when reading the Bible for the first time to start with the NT and then read the OT. Interesting.
In CCD, we would confess our sins in confession and the priest would say to recite this or the Hail Mary 3 times. Being a kid, I thought Jesus was the original author. Looks like he learned the prayer himself. Beautiful prayer, beautiful origin.
The Bible says to call no one father except God! It also says to confess to only father God. It says nowhere to pray to Mary or confess to a priest. I pray you get away from the evils of the Catholics.

This S&G used to be known 200 years ago as the *Syrian Orthodox Church Hebrew Codex* by the Swedish Adherents of the SOC who've had it since the 500s CE. There used to be a series on UA-cam on the history of Sweden and the Knights Templar with this Original Copy of this Hebrew New Testament being talked about at length, but after a few months they pulled it and I don't know why. But yes, *this is the Original Hebrew New Testament manuscript that the Catholic Cult Church falsely claims as no longer existent.* But this claim didn't extend to Syrian Orthodoxy in Damascus and Aleppo whence it originated from, because politically the Craplick Church had no power in that region ...or not for very long.

Just a note about the translation. The context is "deliver us from the evil one". Lead us away from temptation so that we do not commit sin (following the devil), not to protect us from evil acts. Leaving the translation as the indefinite 'evil' is an incorrect translation.
Salkinson-Ginsburg is translation following from the English texts from Tyndale 1522 in awareness of Luther’s work, and likewise deferring to them in word order and phrasing rather than Greek Koinè text. J. Wilkins thanks for your comment. In Hebrew the phrase “avinu” (אבינו) is found both in the Tanakh as well as known Jewish songs in Hebrew such as “Avinu Malkenu”. The ending “nu” refers to “our”, so it terms of the word order, you can say it matches with the Greek (Πάτερ ἡμῶν). The phrase “Avinu Shebbashamayim” (אבינו שבשמים) is also well known among the Jews. Apparently it occurs in the Mishna, from which they took it for the “Hebrew Prayer for the State of Israel”. Shebbashamayim is Sh-Ba-Shamayim, meaning, That/Who (ש) in (ב) heavens (שמים). This too seems to match with the word order in Greek. Πάτερ (Father) ἡμῶν (our) ὁ (Who art) ἐν (in) τοῖς (the) οὐρανοῖς (heaven). The last sentence you wrote in Greek in parenthesis is found intact in the Majority text (Receptus, Byzantine).
Seeking God's Kingdom: I too, I too. Thank you. Your comments are helpful and instructive. It’s late in the afternoon where I am, but hope we can communicate more later. Yes, this is indeed the prayer the Lord Jesus (Yeshua) taught His disciples in Matthew 6:9-13. I have used the Salkinson-Ginsburg Hebrew translation of the New Testament.
Your use of the words debts and debtors is very misleading as they do not have the same meaning as trespass and trespassers (I suggest you look up the meanings of these words). This is just one more instance of the meaning of scripture being changed by men. No offence meant 😀
Yehoshua explained this part of the Lord's Prayer. It is debts and debtors because in the parable of the two debtors and the Master, one debtor is forgiven who then goes to one who is endebted to him and demands repayment, the Master is informed of this and throws the wicked man back into debt-slavery because the wicked servant had no mercy on his fellow servant.
