I like your channel. I really liked how you said that each designer has their era. I think it is also true for musicians. It takes an exceptional artist to transcend trends.
I think people are quick to disregard her time at Chloe for some reason. Phoebe at Chloe was what got me into fashion as a teenager, there are some looks and accessories that are still the peak of cool to me. She took over from Stella McCartney who had also been so critically and commercially acclaimed, and was able to take things even bigger. Remember any of Stella's accessories at Chloe? Now remember the chokehold the Paddington had on society in the aughts? I prefer the Edith bags but that is neither here nor there, but she really grew that brand and their profile. So in terms of your first point, I do think it is a bit moot because she has both experiences. Now she is having a third - starting from scratch! I will say I think there are positives and negatives about her, her history, and this collection she released / this brand, BUT her successes before, and even before Celine, can't be denied. The other points are sound but her clientele cohort has grown with time and myth, and more importantly, in income, so, as long as she doesn't fuck it up (which remains to be seen, the delays for one thing and there are rumours the business side is a bit rocky behind the scenes) I think she still has a chokehold on those actually wealthy, luxury buying Philophiles.
I agree with your analysis, but I also don’t understand all the negative reviews of this launch. I think the designs are beautiful and if I had the kind of money I would buy them- they are art to me. And as we know art’s value can be pretty subjective. People are judging the high price point only because they don’t see a logo, which is sad.
PP imo is creating exclusivity with her brand. The intricacies of design assuming high craftsmanship w/ price point for one which perhaps is speaking sustainability in not mass production. Many items already sold out. So does that mean fewer made? They are iconic pieces for sure. Very relevant and interesting video Tuba!
This is so good! I just discovered your channel and skipped this one at first because I was tired of Phoebe criticism. But then I realized you might have something refreshing to say... and you delivered.
fabulous video. thank you. i wish Phoebe and her team all the best (especially as she's also one of the few females in this space) but the laser focus on the purchasing power of 1% of the 1% is disappointing. and viscose. smh.
The collection (or at least A1) is just so uninspired. I feel like PP just rehashed her old bestselling ideas from Céline (also, IP issues, anyone? FashionRoadman actually brought up this valid point in his recent review of the first drop) and ran with it. She knows that her fans are going to buy it anyway and the speed at which stuff was sold out proved her right. At this point I feel like she is mocking her customers tbh especially with the fabric choices.
You can’t deny that Phoebe as a designer has made a great contribution to women’s fashion but when Iman stated that she did not want to use Black models then that was all I needed to hear. I would NEVER spend a dime on any item that has her name on it. She is irrelevant to me now.
She uses black models now. And before, she didn't use Asian models either, but you don't see to be mad about that. So no forgiveness ever, till the end of time ? That is so left wing.
@@gobyfish1399 thats not the argument, the argument is that she has upholder white supremacy for having a white only policy for all the modelling of her collections but has only now included them now that it is more profitable, how can you defend such a thing?
And who TF is Iman so state anything at all regarding fashion)) that irrelevant relic looks like she still dresses in the 70s flee market rags from Adis-Abebba
Agree 100% on the Phoebe Philo ''MUM'' necklace. It was one of my favorite pieces from her first drop. (No, I didn't get it but would love to do my own rendition of it with the original as an Inspo.)
I don't like her anymore but the hype is about the impact she made in the fashion space when she was at Celine. She's inspired many of the trends you see at Bottega and The Row for example and she changed womenswear in almost the same degree Jil Sander did. So as a response, she has accumulated a dedicating following of people dumb enough to spend thousands of her creations.
The fact that it’s not recognisable is a great thing but in saying it would unlikely bring in a more casual fashion fan who would likely go to a bigger branded house
I think she knew exactly what to do and how to do it.. it’s just way too overpriced… but all her fans would buy it anyway.. I mean they have been waiting all this time. Nevertheless I still think she is talented and creative and I love her design and approach to fashion
I'm trying not to nit-pick. It looks like she had issues getting finacial backing for this project. I see this with her having to take the photos for the website herself with an iphone, the choices in fabrics, the pricing, and older interviews about the brand. I'm wondering if it was due to the new business model? I personally liked the mum necklace.
Sorry but are you joking ? Are you being sarcastic? The backing came from LVMH and about £25 million pounds. Why can’t you do some basic research before commenting ? I’m all for discussion and debate but please be in possession of all the facts before commenting x
Everything I ever bought from her line. Is still in great condition and I get compliments. So I dis agree with you. Are you bitter about not having what others have and had
2 Tubas in one video, we are in for a fashion treat

Also why so much viscose in the new brand???

Peter Do and Phoebe comparisons is just impertinent, the mum necklace I’m with you, I’m getting it.

I think a lot of the Céline spirit was because of Binx Walton and Karly Loyce@@cigarettearms5992

Viscose...........everywhere😬
Loved the collection, looks met my expectations but the price point... help me understand how a cotton twill trench is selling for £3.3k
Why the hype about this Phoebe Philo..her collection has nothing extraordinary

Looking forward to this one!
I loed your initial video and I think it stands strong, unfortunately I don't see this brand hitting old celine fame.
The discord link wouldn’t work for me😮
Still on the money
Hey nice video, thank you so much. Are you Turkish?
If you can remember she n Stella McCartney did a label together before she got Celine.

I feel like german culture in general is more on the pessimistic side
maybe more realistic than pessimistic, but that also quickly leads to pessimism unfortunately 😔
