- Demetrious "Mighty Mouse" Johnson is considered by many to be one of the best MMA fighters of all-time because of his abilities and accolades. While in the UFC Johnson set the promotion's record for consecutive title defenses with 11. But Johnson has revealed over the years that he doesn't actually possess that many belts. Demetrious says he only has three UFC belts. At one time he asked the UFC to take a picture with all of his titles, but after the photoshoot he was unable to travel with all of the belts due to their weight. Put him on cards with stars like Poirer McGregor Alvarez Cerrone Silva Belfort Jones Griffin Franklin Bisping Stann Glover Rampage. Literally everyone of his cards had one or stars to draw in BUT he couldn’t get people to say “you know what I’m interested in Cerrone vs Pettis so I’ll buy the card cause Mighty Mouse puts on a good show”. He then blamed the failure of his own drawing power on Dana and the UFC when they’ve spent literal years putting him on those cards. With Dana praising him as the GOAT of the sport.
Truth is this he’s a mediocre draw because unlike guys like GSP who had ever single one of mighty mouses problems with a major one of his second language being English. Mighty Mouse is a humble bragging arrogant loud mouth who blames the world for his problems.

Mighty Mouse without question has got to be the absolute best martial artist of our time. Dudes been champion since basically forever, he ALWAYS comes back from his defeats more triumphant than before, I just don’t see how his level of skill compares to anyone else’s. And while people like Anderson Silva and GSP and Jon jones are great, I think when it comes to pure skill across the board Mighty Mouse quite literally has to be the best as of right now.

I agree. JJ has good stand up and wrestling with decent jiu jitsu, Anderson was good stand up good jiu jitsu with decent wrestling, gsp good stand up good wrestling decent jiu jitsu, but MM good across the boards
1) GSP (was the first "total" well rounded athlete/fighter, no weaknesses, almost never lost a round, beat every man he faced, two division champ, clean drug tests, always classy, etc)

The UFC wanted to get rid of him pretty much because he was too good but not entertaining enough. Nobody was watching Flyweight fights.
It was a dirty move but it paid off because Figgy and Moreno created one of the best Rivalries in the UFC and made Flyweight an actually interesting division for a while.
It paid of for DJ as well i think he became way bigger than before after leaving UFC and fighting Guys like Roadtang and Moraes

He sold less then 700k in 13 title defences. To put that number into perspective GSP in the middle of his title run was averaging 800k an event!

Dana and the ufc aren’t in the loosing money business. DJ did nothing to promote himself. I’m not talking trash talking or anything like that. Guys like GSP with all DJs problems being a smaller guy in the most recent “to small” devision of the ufc, who didn’t trash talk to sell fights. With the added issue of being a French speaker. Conor was a cage warriors double champ, and go listen to some of his pre fight interviews. That is Conor McGregor as he would be in the UFC. The UFC doesn’t write Conor’s promos, but they give him a stage for him to speak.
DJ was given those opportunities repeatedly but never fully utilized them. In fact he went full Rhonda Rousey on TUF and made people not like him. It probably would be better for DJ not to speak. That’s it DJ wasn’t a mega star despite Dana and UFC doing the damndest to make him one.
