    I'm pretty young but I love Charlie Poole's music, for all the people they make movies about this is a dude that deserves a movie interesting guy love hearing this history thanks for posting this

      Thank you! I started digitizing old recordings for people in grad school and thought others might enjoy some of this. And regardless of the genre, I hate the idea of these old recordings being forgotten.

    A dissenting opinion: I think Charlie Poole would likely bash a banjo over the head of a person referring to him as "country." Nearly all of his recorded repertory consisted of parlor songs from the 1890s, and his style of banjo playing is essentially the same as what we today consider "classic style" banjo. In fact, Poole recorded two solo banjo pieces that were straight out of the classic/ragtime banjo repertory. His style was nothing like neighbors and contemporaries like Ben Jarrell and Frank Jenkins, although they certainly dipped into the 1890s sentimental songs as well. Though he had a rather rough voice, Charlie Poole's sound was much more sophisticated than most of his contemporaries, as was his choice of material.

    Why they pick one song of the Skillet Lickers and run a comparison hmmm
