There are many quest lines they didn't continue. Fairies, Keldagrim, penguins, Templars, pirates... All of these end in blatant cliffhangers that are never resolved. They did port Land of the Goblins which broke the dry streak for Dorgeshoon quests, so maybe there is hope for the other abandoned series too
I reckon they’re gonna come back to these storyline’s. A fair few quests released for osrs are linked to unfinished storyline’s or promoting their new content
Congrats on being the second person ever on youtube to finish this quest. Usually people unlock the Fairy Rings at the start and abandon this quest until quest Cape
to be fair there is no reason to finish it besides quest cape. doesnt unlock anything and gives a tiny ass xp reward. XP reward could use some work considering the very high herblore/farming requirements for a quest that gives nothing. Maybe it should unlock a disease free herb patch in zanaris or something

You can play the game this way, nothing is stopping you. I did DT2 and while guthix sleeps unguided (after seeing this series come out I wanted to try it myself) and it was so much fun. It's a completely different way of playing the game. DT2 is easily the best experience I've had in OSRS, especially the stranglewood part loved that. Also being ambushed by the red guy inside your POH with boss music playing was terrifying Very very strongly reccomend playing all new quests this way. Some of the very old stuff like OSRS classic and karamja stuff is trash but everything else, especially anything made since osrs released, is worth playing unguided for the story and lore

Man when you finally got the Cosmic Rune Altar translation, it reminded me of when I did it as a kid. Figuring out the first line "The godfather attacked us", felt super proud of myself back then.
The reason why they don't tell you the codes for the Cosmic Being and the Goraks, and make you put in every single code one by one, is so that by the end of it, you have a complete or near-complete list of fairy ring codes and their matching locations, and can subsequently teleport around the game with ease. (Or for most people, you can just look up a list of codes and locations on the wiki these days.)

I actually really enjoyed Fairy rings, the minute I unlocked them I put a spreadsheet together and tried every code, noting where each of them went. I thought it was a blast.

This series is legendary. It truly reminds me of when I first started playing as a 10 year old kid and didn’t know about any guides. Sadly, I quickly discovered RuneHQ. But watching this series has been fantastic so far.

I am very impressed that you figured out the Fairy Ring routing as quickly as you did. In my game, I ignored DJQ as an option because it didn't go anywhere, so I presumed DJP was the correct option. I then started drawing lines between the four fairy rings and trying to figure out where they crossed, like some kind of Always Sunny conspiracy board. When that led nowhere I pulled out the sextant and tried averaging out the co-ordinates of each, which led me to the Combat Training Camp. It was only then that I clocked that I might be doing something wrong.

It's kind of crazy to see how well made these quests actually are. Because ever since I started playing the game way back in 2005 i've just ran through every quest as quickly as possible with a guide open. Never imagined half of this lore and detective work existed in them lol.

I do love how this rabbit hole all started with wanting to travel to barrows faster. I love and hate this game for that where you want to unlock something simple and go down a rabbit hole for weeks to unlock it. Like the one small favor quest, which coincidentally was part of my rabbit hole to unlock Monkfish.
For those who don't know, the fairy tale quest spawns a list of items randomly to collect, of like 200 different items. And it's different for each player. Like this quest gives something like 65 items a use for the items
Part 3 was one of the quests that could be be back ported to complete the series. But it is complicated by the fact that one of the mechanics involved being able to teleport without the staff and since that is diary content now that makes it very contentious and unlikely to pass a poll. It would also need to be remastered to remove the summoning aspect from the quest too
@ Ork’s rift is a pretty funny quest, also amazing quests from before and after eco are around. That some of the more recent quests are top tier doesn’t make the smaller ones any worse. They’re not gonna put the same resources into a smaller quest like fairy tale three as they would for something like desert treasure two So a remake entirely from scratch isn’t very likely either. It would either come down to replacing the elite lumbridge task reward or having to come up with something different and then doing three polls just to get it passed.
@@dominater5 The thing is realistically while the fairy series has amazing qol rewards the actual quests are intermediate in requirements and length level it’s extremely unlikely that much extra dev time would be granted to push it to that level. It’s too unlikely considering that nothing in Ork’s rift would contradict the current lore so it wouldn’t be worth stalling Varalamore/Xeric/Mahjerat dev time (because you need those mods for grandmaster content) to replace it outright.
You could have deduced from the 4 letter options on the fairy ring, the final letter by checking those 4 against the decoded message? Awesome series. Absolutely hooked.
this has been such a wild ride, i totally forgot this all was to optimize for barrows XD that's the real runescape experience right here, completing half the game as a side quest to a single, simple goal XD
You may not have realized it, but all that herblore training from the snapdragon in Part 1 paid off. This quest requires 57 herblore to make the potion, but not to start, and that's why a lot of ironmen only complete it up until the point of unlocking fairy rings.
There was a kind of poll contest thing for players to submit potential names for the then unnamed snake boss, I believe Broken Handz was the submitter for "Zulrah"

Back in the day, there wasn't a travel log, though. They probably put that in to make players familiar with the fairyring system.

It's kind of crazy to see how well made these quests actually are. Because ever since I started playing the game way back in 2005 i've just ran through every quest as quickly as possible with a guide open. Never imagined half of this lore and detective work existed in them lol.

I do love how this rabbit hole all started with wanting to travel to barrows faster. I love and hate this game for that where you want to unlock something simple and go down a rabbit hole for weeks to unlock it. Like the one small favor quest, which coincidentally was part of my rabbit hole to unlock Monkfish.

For those who don't know, the fairy tale quest spawns a list of items randomly to collect, of like 200 different items. And it's different for each player.
Like this quest gives something like 65 items a use for the items
Part 3 was one of the quests that could be be back ported to complete the series. But it is complicated by the fact that one of the mechanics involved being able to teleport without the staff and since that is diary content now that makes it very contentious and unlikely to pass a poll. It would also need to be remastered to remove the summoning aspect from the quest too
Ported quests from rs3 are generally of far lower quality. They should just write one from scratch
@ Ork’s rift is a pretty funny quest, also amazing quests from before and after eco are around. That some of the more recent quests are top tier doesn’t make the smaller ones any worse.
They’re not gonna put the same resources into a smaller quest like fairy tale three as they would for something like desert treasure two So a remake entirely from scratch isn’t very likely either.
It would either come down to replacing the elite lumbridge task reward or having to come up with something different and then doing three polls just to get it passed.
@@emeraldpichu1 fairy tale 3 could be a grandmaster quest and personally I think that would be quite cool.
@@dominater5 The thing is realistically while the fairy series has amazing qol rewards the actual quests are intermediate in requirements and length level it’s extremely unlikely that much extra dev time would be granted to push it to that level. It’s too unlikely considering that nothing in Ork’s rift would contradict the current lore so it wouldn’t be worth stalling Varalamore/Xeric/Mahjerat dev time (because you need those mods for grandmaster content) to replace it outright.
@@emeraldpichu1 dragon slayer 1 and 2 are drastically different in requirements. Quests from one storyline arent required to be similar in every way.
You could have deduced from the 4 letter options on the fairy ring, the final letter by checking those 4 against the decoded message?

You may not have realized it, but all that herblore training from the snapdragon in Part 1 paid off. This quest requires 57 herblore to make the potion, but not to start, and that's why a lot of ironmen only complete it up until the point of unlocking fairy rings.
