I think it may be because they already make this type of bike. You know - Adventure bikes. I feel like there wouldn't be much of a point to modify a street bike with next to no suspension travel and torque peak at 8K RPM with a massive, uncontrollable rush of power at the same when you can just go by a cheap-ass m/c that does the job better. I guess if a sport bike is all you've got though...
The other people who replied to this already hit a couple of good points, but additionally, the ergonomics of a sports bike are pretty much polar opposites from what you would want from a dirt/ trail bike. It does seem like it would be pretty fun though

@@williamtaftt Excellent point. I think it was Jamie with MotoGeo who had a CBR600 and turned it into a scrambler. Seemed pretty cool - especially if you're mostly on the road and just want to explore a bit during a trip. Then again, you could do that on a Goldwing 1800 if you're Matt Spears...that crazy SOB...

As far as I know, these crash bars are suitable for asphalt only where they can slide, on dirt they will dig and catch the ground, at high speeds when you drop the bike they will make yoyr bike roll.
For offroad its better to use smooth bars, like the ones on ADV bikes, they won't dig on gravel and sand.
