If Thor is lifting 501 kg he is lifting 501 kg I don't give a s*** if it is a world record or not. we all know he has lifted it and therefore the best end of story. That's my opinion
The problem is unless the plates and bar aren't calibrated then how do you know it's legit? I can theoretically pull heavy weight on camera and claim a record. I know Hafthor has worked really hard for this, but it won’t be an official World Record. It will be one for him, but it won’t be a certified official world record. Sorry 😐
Brian Shawn’s take on this “record” is objective and spot on. Saying it isn’t a world record is not hate. Thor is superhuman and we know this, but certain labels come with certain criteria, and lifting in the confines of your home does not fit criterion. I’m still a fan and respect all of his achievements.
Spot on. It's amazing if he lifts 501kg in his gym and I'm sure many of us will tune in, but it shouldn't count as a world record. Or it shouldn't be mentioned in competitions as a WR because it wasn't in a competitive situation. Shaw had it right this week and Oberst followed up with similar thoughts.
Martin Broadhurst exactly bro the variables at play are glaring to guys who know the significance of them. What you do in the gym and what you do at an actual comp are honestly night and day.

If record attempts are going to now be accepted at non-competitive venues, what's the enticement for fans to participate and sponsors to invest in competitions? This is a slippery slope for the sport. Don't get me wrong, I wish Thor luck but, it should be a non-official record, in my opinion.

@@dorianderaj7591 No he's not. Runar is short.
@@Txb4g if hes 170+ cm hes not short
@@dorianderaj7591 hes less than 170 but still more man than all of us
Aniks Dhamo runar said he is 168 cm
That is such a cool intro.
It never gets old
god i hope you can achieve it, honestly do. it would be fantastic to push the record.
there will be alot to discuss afterwards, though, on how to progress with garage-records vs. competition records. i hope a good solution can be found.
Always enjoy watching you guys. Didn't enjoy the music though. Even if you aren't talking to the camera , it's nice to hear you talking to each other. It just makes it more personal.
Who is the little boy in the video that wrote all over his face with an ink pen?
If Thor is lifting 501 kg he is lifting
501 kg I don't give a s*** if it is a world record or not. we all know he has lifted it and therefore the best
end of story. That's my opinion
The problem is unless the plates and bar aren't calibrated then how do you know it's legit? I can theoretically pull heavy weight on camera and claim a record. It's like brain said, nothing wrong with it being considered UNOFFICIAL. But an official record needs to be done under proper conditions. If thor can do that, then it's all good! Better to silence the doubters from the jump.
Jerante Addison the plates and the bar will be calibrateds. there will have an official referee to.
Wrong . It has to be done in competition not at home in your own gym !
Lee Jay such a fanboy lol if he lifts 501 he is stronger and no opinions matters. you may not recognise it as an official world record but you cant deny the fact that if thor lifts it he is stronger...
Joao Leal needs to be lifted in competition with others competing. Needs to be in a competition environment. Lifting when it’s your turn and told to lift not when you are ready to lift . I do not have a problem with him breaking the world record if it’s in competition. I hope he does it ! But you can’t do it under your own conditions .its not legit
great job halthor, im pulling for you and wish you nothing but greatness , from one norwegian to a icelander make the 501 happen, terrke for moderlandet , min bror skol gratulerer med babyen
Love watching you all do deadlifts! Fucking love it!
Man I'm so hyped right now, I want to wake up tomorrow and see 2nd of may on the calendar.
Well, I think it is safe to say Runar has the World's Strongest Cameraman title in the bag. Romark and Tom have a lot of work to do.
Nice work on this one, Runar. Both on that deadlift and the metal music in this video.
GOoD luck Hafthor Bjornsson, love your commitment.
I know Hafthor has worked really hard for this, but it won’t be an official World Record. It will be one for him, but it won’t be a certified official world record. Sorry 😐
A+ Thor👍
We are fortunate to be able to see guys like Thor and Brian training. Love both of you! Gogogo to 501 Thor!
What an awesome team .....love these vids
Interviewer: "how strong are you Thor?"
Hafthor: "yes"
Good luck, big man!
Thor....I bloody love you and you've got my support all the way UK Fan
When Eddie was lifting this kind of weight, he looked like a bowling bowl
He is 6.3
You can't pack only so much into a frame
I'm 5'7"
It was always my desire to be 200lbs
After I've did it believe me even I don't want see the pictures 🤣
Now im stuck at 75+ kgs
Thor my man... You gotta do your 501, which I'm certain you can, in a sanctioned competition! Don't do it at home!
You will do it for sure. You are a warrior!
You got this! 👍 TEAM THOR! LET'S GO!! 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I started dead lifting my couches after watching this
Go and get that 501 Thor 👍🏼
Always inspiration watching
Nice job Mountain!
You will own those 501kgs!
Good luck Thor, we all look forward to seeing the record smashed in competition 👍
It will be smashed may 02 mate 💪🔥🔥🔥 officially
@@amukelaniebenezer406 which competition is that?
Mark McLaren I heard it’s going to be live-streamed in his own personal gym, with no outsiders and an Icelandic referee. I’ll be live streaming 502 from my bedroom shortly after and I’ll be upset if anyone calls bullshit when I make the lift

Isnt that the guy who destroyed his body and is now a cripple ?

@@sahastrajitsingh2646 Oh no, don't get me wrong, It's amazing what he's done, i just keep feeling sad for the guy, i just hope its worth it.
Personally i would rather have a strong and fit body all my life, than only the first half or so. But everyone is different.
I just hope Hafthor is smarter.
@@RMJ1984 Or luckier with his genetics, which it seems he is. The men in Ronnie's family have had to get back and hip surgeries whether they lifted or not.
Everyone screams light weight nowadays.Ronnie was inspirational with this stuff....YEAH BUDDY....EVERYBODY WANNA BE A BODYBUILDER BUT NOBODY WANTS TO LIFT NO HEAVY ASS WEIGHTS.....LIGHT WEIGHT BABY ;)
I liked this video. No timewasting chit chat, just straight to the point. The eyes can do all of the learning.
Thor is a bad MFeR dude. Love watching these vids it makes me want to lift but the damn gyms aren’t open son!!!
The muscles of his thighs are insane
Those are not thighs! Those are tree trunks!
440kg for reps makes me think 501kg should be a walk in the park for Thor. I hope he does it. And then when the lockdown is lifted, Thor does 510kg at an official record setting.
May 02 official record breaking
@@amukelaniebenezer406 , non competition lift at a home gym should not be an 'official' record, EVER... they'll ruin the sport if they allow it.
@@bigblocked540 it already sanctioned with official strongman judge with weight calibration etc. Ssshh if u don't know the facts
@@wannabeserpento99 , makes no difference if it's sanctioned or not and shame on those who decided to sanction. My opinion has no ill will towards Thor, I'm a big fan. My concern is for the health of the sport which has come a long way in recent years in which Thor himself has helped promote. If record attempts are going to now be accepted at non-competitive venues, what's the enticement for fans to participate and sponsors to invest in competitions? This is a slippery slope for the sport. Don't get me wrong, I wish Thor luck but, it should be a non-official record, in my opinion.
@@bigblocked540 you talk about what "should be" instead of what it actually is. I'm sure Thor and the WUS organizers won't be able to sleep knowing you don't agree with them.
Wow Hafthor your a Legend in already ! Thank you sir for your effort. You deserve all accolades you receive and then some. take care, stay safe and healthy. Thanks eh
Awesome job big guy. You will get this! Don’t stop after 501, shatter it to really let everybody know who is the best without a doubt. I’m trying to bench press 501 but in pounds haha.
Watching him getting into the suit had me crying 😭
Watching stream :-)
Legend! Can’t wait to see you crush 501!!!
You are a legend right now!! keep at it Thor!!!
I watched the competition at Giants Live again on the weekend. 440kg was a big lift back then. The fact that he's doing this for 3 reps is insane.

Thank you Thor. For showing us what it takes to be the best.
great way to show the weight progression with the music and original sound low in background it was not boring !
