Hey Eric glad you brought this up, thanks. I read recently that they actually changed how they calculate employment in the 80's. Unemployment is actually way higher. Whether it's a little exaggerated probably but supposedly unemployment is closer to 20% if measured the way it was measured before they changed it in the 80's. 🤔
And how many of the jobs they did “make” are complete BS no benefit, low wage nonsense jobs?

A real job is at least eight hours a day not a part-time job three or four hours. I wonder what the rate of real eight hour jobs is I know it is getting less and less every year. They’re probably including Uber jobs lift jobs. Uber eats you name it and they call them jobs.
@@Lenn1990 i get what you’re saying but a job is a job think about all the jobs that are 1099 that aren’t included in that number it’s plenty of jobs for those who are determined. Let’s not forget about the work from home jobs, people refuse to go back to working in office after being required to. also people from other countries are incentivized to come work in america and get degrees as well.

I think part of it is alot of jobs are pobably coming from the gig economy. Some gig workers may be working a couple different jobs each day. The BLS may be looking at the gig worker as multiple new hires versus a single person with muliple jobs. The economy is a sham considering what it was when I was growing up in the 80's.
All the lazy digital nomads got fired for lazing around and refusing to go to work.

Could this mean that inflation has not been as high as reported? Is it justified to have interest rates so high for this long?

The unemployment numbers are always off just not this much. That is why they get 3 tries...LOL. This almost assures a rate cut. Prudent cut to help to continue to weaken inflation would be 25 bps... popular cut would be 50 bps. I am hoping for 25 bps each of the remaining meetings in 2024

My outlook on money changed when I realized that is better to invest on or before retirement, some people are just putting $15k or $20k With the current market movement at the end of the year they are making millions.
