I went out & bought a micrometer & it turns out all I really need was a bent piece of wire. The shaft turning the bit is bent. Thank you for sharing. Have a blessed day.
why is it a mess in every workshop there. You first clean up the mess before you start a new job, otherwise you will never be able to work properly. And they have never heard of a decent floor, sand, chunks of concrete, chips everywhere. This has nothing to do with poverty, more with mentality. Apparently if you don't know any better then it must be normal.
That's the fucking culture they grow up in mate, you take one of them Pakistani kids and educate them in the US and he becomes a software engineer, you leave him home, he becomes a flip-flop machinist on a dirt floor. Upbringing is everything.
I worked in a shop like that, more than 50 years ago (foundry included), in Bangladesh-hobbled a lot of gears . I am still impressed with what they turned out considering what they had to work with super impressed by the quality of welding(I see they are still a little harsh on lathe ways!

You'd think with so many people in the country and really low wages you would have at least one person to keep the shop clean. When was the last time someone swept the floor, was it even in this century?
I'm wondering how many kilograms of metal chips are around the shop. Would be interesting to see a measurement. Great video also! Edit: also good thing OSHA doesn't see this video...
These guys are great at getting the job done with whatever machine tool is available. One would think that some simple measuring devices would go a long way to quality improvement. Just think what these guys could do with some modern equipment with DRO's. Too bad, their work environment is an absolute disaster. Clean the area and quality would improve.
Great, but you should make a floor there so you don't have to store those tools in the sand (or at least put something on the ground there). It can cause big problems...

Вряд ли хорошо. Я подозреваю, что в подобное место обращаются больше от безысходности, когда наличие хоть какого-то кривого-косого вала лучше, чем его отсутствие.
They say that “you are a product of your environment”……why would anybody post a video of this dumpster fire of a shop?? Chips piled everywhere, dirt floors, not a single work bench…This is the most archaic work environment I’ve ever seen! This guy must get paid by the day because he’s milking that speed
Not really incredible, is it? This is a simple engineering process which is performed every day all over the world. The working conditions in that factory are horrendous and I suspect quality standards aren’t much better either.
Very old machinery, obsolete, filthy dirty work environment, what sort of tolerance are they working to. No oil for the cutting tools, no precision measuring devices. Looks like a really loose fit into that gear. That will work for a week or so. What crap. This is the best advertising for what not to purchase from this so called machine shop. The literally beat this thing in place despite the loose fit. How crude can you get?? 1 hour to machine a piece like that...? It is a wastde effort. It has failure machined into it.
Absolutely shocking, I work in a machine shop turning parts for civil nuclear, oil and gas and military . Looks like monkey metal to me and there's nothing special about very basic machining.
