I grew up 5 minutes by bike from the point and regularly surfed there and nearby reefs. As a grom I patterned my surfing off of Skip, Nat Young and Billy Hamilton. I used to come in from surfing just to watch Skip surf. Amazing surfer and of course he got all the waves he chose to even when it was packed. He came back from Australia in the late 60’s and shaped his version of the egg that I think Wayne Lynch first introduced. Skips egg were known as the “Fryed Egg.” He always showed up with about 5 awesome boards to test. Mostly different sized eggs and fishes. The boards he shaped then are still relevant today. Sure wish there was a ton of footage of Skip surfing but unfortunately they are rare. I’m 67 now and still surfing and I heard Skip is too.🏄🏻‍♂️🤙🏼

Yeah he’s still surfing. See him down at the Cliffs now and again but he needs someone to carry his glider down for him.
