Hi . I remember the early vlogs of the Hatfield and McCoy feuds! In the cemetery with your little boy . Poor cotton top sure had a rough deal in life and hopefully he is at Peace now . Thanks for your enjoyable , interesting vlogs . Take care . Deborah 🇨🇦
When I heard that they hung him. It broke my heart. That sweet young boy . When his Dad passed he was just . Heart broken . I know that I am saying that over and over and I can't think of any other way to express it . Thank you for another GREAT STORY.
Interesting take on this episode in the feuds history. So sad after they allowed him to be the sacrificial lamb, that he wasn't even given a grave stone.
Have alot of family in Pikeville. We are from Lee County Virginia. Found out years ago from a cousin who is into genealogy that we some how are related to the McCoys
That really is a sad story. Reminds me of the Netfix series Making of a Murderer where a man, a boy at the time, would confess to a murder he didn't do. He had a low I.Q. and was a scapegoat for murder too. If anyone has seen that series, you'd know my reference. Again, much bloodshed with the Hatfield and McCoys. Poor Cotton Top. May he rest in peace.
I read once that Cap Hatfield had promised Cottontop some money and that they would rescue him from jail if he took the blame for the murders. Not sure how true that is, but I did read that in a book about The Hatfields and McCoys.
In THC’s story, he was seen as a sacrifice or scapegoat to end the feud. That’s the accepted version of the feud's history. RIP to all who died in the feud
Lot of Hatfields in the hilly areas of Southern Indiana. Some came to get away from the problems because they were distant relatives of those entrenched in the fighting, and didn’t like the name association. Others were are descendants of Anse, or one of the brothers, and have family lore about the fighting.
Rest In Peace to this young man, I completely believe he was innocent. People were so Blood Thirsty back then.I do believe in an eye for an eye,but it has to be 💯 % with out a doubt ‼️‼️‼️
I drive by here alot. I've been told Cotton Top is buried in a unmarked grave in the cementary across from his hanging site beside the UPike campus. Its also the same cemetary That Octavia Hatcher who was rumored to have accidently buried alive at. The TV show Mysteries at the Museum filmed here few years ago.
This is so sad and did not "Cotton Top" grave. Back in 1890 should known where's the grave is and write it down after he hanged. I am sure they have paperwork whereabout graveyard. Check out the "old school" hiding under-basement at the old courthouse.
Of all the Hatfield and McCoy lore, this is the one that bothers me the most. Of all the facts the one that was undisputed was that CottonTop was intellectually deficient. How could he be held accountable and hanged? Guess it was just the way it was back then. I would love to someday visit that cemetery and pay my respects to that young man.
I am always fascinated by your stories, thank you so much.
Thank you for sharing the story. My heart has always broken for Cotton Top 😢.

I have been watching Hatfields & McCoy with Kevin Costner & Bill Paxton. Wonder why his grave is unmarked?
My ungle by marriage to my momma sister was a hayfield she’s still alive
