Well, thank you so much for your kind, kind review, Olly! I’m just glad that you found this book to be worth your while. “User” was curiously the easiest story for me to write, yet seems to be the hardest for people to digest. I’m sure there’s a lesson in there.

In USA sloth rhymes with cloth and I notice maybe English accented folks seem to say it as though it rhymes with oath… like in British speak ‘the sloth took an oath of silence’ would sound cooler, funnier. Neither here nor there but love your reviews Ollie and want to get hold of this book for the two stories that are your favorites at least also the one with the respectable retired couple who actually are up to no good, to say the least.

  • @ReligionOfSacrifice

The most disturbing book I've ever read was "The Painted Bird" as all of it is true and disgusting for the gypsy child who lived in Poland during WWII and having both Nazis and Russians being disgusting around him and towards him. The idea of all these horrible things along with the child's view of the world was enough to stop my breath worse than a shot of 200 proof Mexican moonshine or a hornet stinging the front of my throat three times while I was riding my bike. His first love and what happened to her was absolutely miserable.
This book comes in at #25 of my favorite books.

Have made major investments on Amazon lately loading up my Kindle with titles from this channel. Poised between gratitude and ... something else? But currently stuck in a mediocre horror called Kill Creek, which is sort of similar to Hell House in some ways, but to my mind not as good. Sigh. For reasons that feel compulsive I am so far unable to drop the damn thing, so I slog forth. I will choose better next time! Meanwhile, I can only be glad that others are in a better place.
