All I did was crush the vacuum boost line with some vise grips. About a 30 sec job and cost nothing (If you have a pair of vise grips). Works well too.
@@holdinator9855 the compressor efficiency map stops at 33 psi on the HY35. You're better off buying a new Borg Warner S362 turbo, and an adjustable wastegate actuator, to net 40 psi.
I have to put a new wastegate on my 01 automatic and I'm just trying to put it at stock psi does anyone know the adjustment to just get stock measurement?
If it's just the stock hy35 you're looking at around 20-21 psi on average unless you really get into it then it may jump a little higher. If you slap a turnbuckle on the hy35 you could see numbers up around 30 or just over. Hx35 turbos are about the same unless you add an adjustable boost elbow then you can get up pushing around 35ish safely for that turbo.
Bruh. I can’t find an hx anywhere. I have an 01 automatic. And my waste gates stuck open. But as you know. You can’t swap them. So I’m about to but another hy cause i can’t find an hx
I searched Craigslist and lucked out and found one on my first search. Have you thought about just ordering a modified hx35 from turbo lab of America? Its not gonna cost much more and you'll get a 63mm compressor wheel and 67mm turbine. Better performance all around for a few hundred bucks more. Comes to your door freshly rebuilt and ready to party! I'd look into that man!
Help! I rebuilt my hy35. Getting a a different whistle out of it now. Had a tough time pressing (pounding) the exhaust side back on. I read gaps/cracks could cause whistles? Any insight?
Yeah, you shouldnt have to pound anything back together. It should all go back together fairly easily, like it came apart. Did you check everything over really well to make sure there is no cracks in exhaust housing or anywhere else?
@@purepanorama8484 I'm guessing it's because I freed up the waste gate while I was in there. I took my camper up in the hills this weekend and realized it's not so much a whistle but a change in tone. The exhaust housing was a b$%&* like in your hx35 exhaust housing removal vid so I didn't think twice when it was a pain getting it back on. Thanks for the reply and thanks for all the work you put into your vids. I'm a Cummins newb so it's very appreciated!
@@g__wizz The slight gap is what worried me. Before I did the rebuild it seemed there was no gap. I was using a rubber mallet but I probably didn't clean the mating surfaces well enough.... thx

Does this seem to work ok?
Yep, this or just plugging the fitting works just fine. 👍
Just did this and basically nothing changed, maybe if anything it built 2-3 more pounds. Any input?
Been running a turnbuckle on my HY35 for about a year, no problem getting 30+ psi now.
No way... Seeiousllyyyy
How does the turnbuckle attach to the wastegate itself?

Nice video man spread the know how.
Mine did that on its own the wastegate actuator seized close lol I'll be getting hx35 if that turbo ever goes out
Been binge watching these for the last few days, good content buddy!
phil posada thanks man! I appreciate that.
Awesome video my dude 👊
I deleted mine and it pushes about 30 to 35 PSI out of it the Hardline the slides out of it it's got a little rubber o-ring on the bottom of it
Tyler Webster how did you delete it? Did you plug the hardline? And did it stay connected to the compressor housing?
Where did you get the air filter?
Congrats on 600 subs!!!
Chad Myers73 thank you man!
Take that turbo, stuff it in a corner, and install a Borg Warner S362 with an adjustable wastegate actuator on the truck instead.
Naw the stock turbo is insanely fast it will spool way faster

Somebody cut my damn wastegate line
What kind of boost numbers can a guy be looking at from a stock set up?

It's all going to depend on your fuel set up as well. Whether you have a tuner, injectors or both.

You have a boost fooler?
Had edge comp box and just got quad adrenaline

you fucked it up. no pounding on assembly. should slide together with slight gap.
