The way Conan manages to carefully steer the conversation from Sona crying about losing her house and her community, to her laughing out loud at her dads mustache not being harmed is just masterful. Conan is the greatest.
people like this are absolute gems if you have them in your life, when my dad died my best friend wanted me to talk about it and let it all out but he treated it exactly like this and it's an evening i will remember for the rest of my life (in a good way)
And on top of that he's recently lost his parents. Such a decent human
“You don’t have to keep it together”
Conan is a real one. Despite their schtick, he has so much love for her, and I know he’s gonna take good care of her. Sona, you are a good example of strength here. God Bless you guys.
Yes, and it seems Tak is a solid husband and father...she said as much. Being the solid stoic personality comes in handy at a time like this.
I think there never was any doubt about Conan always being there for his friends, family, staff and all that need him.
Sona shopping for the "my house burned down" discounts is the most Sona thing ever. Glad she's keeping her spirits up.
No more 5 finger discounts for her :)
She used to get the five finger discount.
My guess is that's the title of her next bestselling book "Hi, my house burned down..."
You all have been on my mind all week. I couldn’t stop thinking about Sona. Sending you love.
Same here. Prayers from Japan 🙏
Same here, Especially when I heard Altadena I'm thinking if Sona is safe. Sending prayers from the Philippines. Take care team coco and everyone
@@moeyo1481 Same here! Prayers from Russia of all places, weird I know lol! Glad seeing Sona already being able to laugh through tears, he's such a wonderfull spirit!
I'm 48 and have never even heard of Altadena until this podcast and Sona and have been hoping to hear from her. This is a big relief that her and the family are safe.
Sona is the only person that I knew of that lived in Altadena, and I was sad to see that she had lost her house. It took her so long to find one. I think the dangers of so many people living in a desert has become obvious. I wish you the best - your tenacity and grit, the ability to have so many people who love you really speaks volumes about you. Conan you are a prince. Good luck to you all.
How good is it to hear Sona’s laughter. Chill Chums forever.
So good. ❤
So glad they have memories of being there. Was such a godsend that they got to experience those times and had the idea to go film 🎥 in her backyard🌳🌿🪴🍁 ♥️
Listen to Conan’s words closely. He doesn’t bring up his parents passing recently… but they do resonate for anyone who has experienced such loss. He is noble for getting the gang together so soon, and brilliant for being able to laugh through the tragedies. And he’d be exquisitely uncomfortable with this praise.
I noticed that too... but I think because Conan is still grieving and he doesn't want it discussed online..
@@sofiesummerbradley I think he is trying to keep the focus on the wildfires and Sona's loss, he will probably talk about his parents in the near future.
And that’s why he’s the best ❤
@@arthursdlexactly!
@@sofiesummerbradley Conan is very mindful and doesn’t want to make it about him. The episode is about the wildfires.
When Sona answered, “Yeah…” you could hear and see her trying so hard to keep it together…and it just broke my heart.
Such a visceral moment. That “Yeah” held a whole range of emotions.
Seriously. When you hear someone who essentially speaks as a profession, especially in comedy, and their voice cracks like that in the effort to not break - such an intense, real emotion.
@@DimesDCP A fire burned down a city. There's been an actual Holocaust underway the past year funded and perpetrated by the people who run that city. You need perspective.
Conan should help her rebuilding new house.
To hear Sona break like that (w/ Conan’s full encouragement to *NOT* “hold it together”), and later to hear her laughing over the (frankly, utterly ludicrous!) 20% discount was both moving and heartwarming! Sona, in the always uncertain future, I wish you & your family all of the best that this world has to offer. As both Conan’s dear friend and ours, too, you well deserve it!
The fact the Sona and Conan have been through so much personal loss recently, to do this podcast so soon after, and still bring joy and laughter, it’s so raw and says a lot about their character. My thoughts are with both of you. Conan is truly one of a kind.
Facts
I think millions heard Altadena and thought Sona.
I wish there was more I could do than my paltry donation to the RC and virtual hugs to all impacted.
I definitely did
Be thankful and grateful for what you are capable and have done. As they are for you being you.
I did too
If you do listen regularly to this podcast (especially in this past year!), then you hadn’t thought you’d hear the town of Altadena on the news, much less that it WAS ON FIRE! I prayed for Sona & her family, and now we know for sure that when she said in a sponsor’s ad that she loved Viennese milk chocolate “more than I love my children,” she *really* was just joking!😏
I reached out. I was like LOOK YOU NEED TO AT LEAST, put out a statement that everyone on team Coco is safe. I was like every single person in the world knows at least SONA lives in Altadena
Hearing this happen to Sona is so heart breaking. The only possible comfort is knowing she has such strong connections with her family and friends. Hoping everyone rallies around this family.
I'm so glad she can still laugh. You could see her oscillating between laughter and tears, right on that edge.
Sona being back in the studio is probably the first sense of normalcy she's had thus far. There's 0 chance she won't be in a cocoon of love and support. We love her but she's right and she'll be alright (at least housing wise) - check out those links and donate or whatever else.
Nice to see Conan making her laugh in spite of what she went thru
She's worth millions, im sure shell be ok
oh no, she has to rent and... fill forms
Been waiting for this upload, Sona was actually the first person I thought of when I heard the fires had hit Altadena
I believe that this is the first time seeing Conan since the passing of both his parents, so I’m so relieved to know he is doing alright.
Standing with the team and praying for Sona and all! So relieved to know that everyone is safe too!
A missed opportunity for his "what happened?" joke when people above the age of 90 die
This episode is another reason why I love this podcast so much. It's always real, full of heart and you can see that the people really care about each other. Conan was trying more than ever to make Sona laugh and cheer her up.
I gotta say, hearing Sona's infectious laugh during this episode is extremely heartwarming. I truly love how she is keeping in positive spirits and being so candid, honest about the impact of the wildfires on her family. I also love Conan even more for continuing the show and creating a safe space for Sona to talk and get out her feelings. That team is truly a family and I oddly feel like I am a part of it. Sending prayers from NYC to Sona, Conan, and Matt, and the rest of the staff.
Seeing Conan make everyone laugh, bring Sona comfort and that normalcy she wanted brought out the tears. I just know it's his way to help and say he loves her. Adding context that Conan has his own loss in his family...
Conan did the same 'you're fired' bit to one of his writers losing their mom due to COVID, and she cracked up. He knows what works and what doesn't, and is a great human being whom everyone respects.
To Sona: we all are with you in spirit. These may seem like just words but they are a reflection of the immense joy and laughter you bring to so many lives. To all of you at CONF, so glad that you are safe and marveling at your resilience. Peace be with you!
Seeing Sona upset is enough to make us all emotional... Having been a Team Coco fan for many years now I really think Sona is the heart and soul of the Team Coco dynamic. Sona is always so lively and light-hearted, it’s sad to see her genuinely emotional like this. From Australia - knowing fires like this - I wish Sona and everyone else who has suffered as a result of the fires the best.
Only Conan can be this incredibly sensitive caring person while at the same time find ways to make people laugh until they cry. He is gifted.
I’m probably like a lot of people who when I heard about Altadena, I immediately thought “oh no, Sona …” I’m glad to know her and the family are safe but heartbroken that the house is gone. This was an important episode. My thoughts are with everyone in that community.
I looked up where the fire was, and matched it to Sona's adress. Unfortunately it was in the burned area.
Definitely thought of Sona and fam
Hope Sona reads this. I lost my home to an erathquake in Mexico City, a little while after you guys came to do a show in Mexico (I was part of the audience btw).
All I can say to you is it will all be fine. Years after that traumatic event, I can see it was a bleesing in disguise. But yeah, it's tough and painful right now, but you'll see it'll be for the best in the long run.
Much love to you guys!
I listened to this before bed when it dropped last night and went to bed humbled and grateful and glad I got to hear them laugh again. I don’t think I’m alone in saying that everyone in that room feels like family, so thanks. Also, Gourley and Sona catching the link comment and Conan clocking their look was why the videos are such a great edition to this pod.
I send all my love to Sona an the people of LA from Montevideo, Uruguay.
I'm in Los Angeles and I thank you ❤
Not to sound selfish, but thank you guys for doing this episode. I'm so grateful to know you guys are all safe. Thank you for letting us all know, I know im not the only one who was so worried about all of you!
My condolences to Conan and his family on the loss of his parents, and to Sona and her family for the loss of her home. You all have brought me joy and comfort in my darkest times. I wish I could do more to repay the favor now.
Couldn’t agree more.
It was so cathartic to see how supportive everyone is for Sona. I lost my brother this past year and there’s not always friends like that. It’s healing to see how kind Conan and everyone is
I saw altadena on the news so much during the fires. I was thinking of Sona this whole time and was waiting for you guys to post cause something told me Sona's house was hit. I Didnt know much about altadena until I started watching this podcast. Praying for Sona and her family and the town of altadena
same. since it seems most of Altadena was affected, the chances of Sona being hit as well were just so high. I was also greatly fearing for Gourley in Pasadena and Conan, I'm glad those two are at least fine - for now.
First thing I thought about when hearing Altadena was Sona.
Sona, I hear that there’s a Guitar Center helping folks “replace” their instruments lost in the fires. ❤ Thank you all for sharing your experiences, especially Sona. You’ve all been on my mind since the fires started. Sending you all so much love and healing. ❤
1:00 in and I’m already tearing up 😢. Hearing Sona’s voice break like that…ugh. My heart goes out to her and her family. And the entire crew. I know they’ve all been through so much.
I live in Florida and the moment I heard about Altadena, the first thing I thought about was Sona and her family. Thank you for letting us know you are all okay. God bless you all!
Sons is amazingly strong, and it’s so unfortunate what’s happened. I have been watching Conan for as long as I can remember, I’ve worked with people that have worked with him, it’s amazing to see his kindness and I know he will do anything in his power to help her. Sona you’ve got this
Actually started sobbing when Conan said "i'll get you through this". May everyone have friends like this in their life to get them through the tough times. ❤
I started crying too. So heartfelt.
it's moments like this were you'll be quick to know who are your true friends. Conan is always there for everyone and even though he was joking about it, I'm sure if someone of his friends and staff had nowhere to go, he'd be the first to open the door to his home.
Sona, I lost my home in a flood. So I have some idea what you’re going through, and my heart goes out to you. I got through it one day at a time. I love you guys. You bring me a great deal of joy. I wish there was something I could bring you during this difficult time.
Conan just SO badly wants everyone in the room to be happy and laughing. ❤😢
He might not be fluent in this new techno world - but he has a very big heart. *And that* is all that counts.
I've waited for this episode to go out ever since finding out about the LA Fires especially after learning about Sona losing her home. Watching this, every time Sona cried, I cried. Every time she laughed, I laughed. Seeing you guys cheer her up was so heartwarming to watch. ❤
In difficult times these guys can still give us so much laughter, and Conan as the comedic genius will always find a way to make people laugh, this podcast is a gift.
Exactly this. ❤️
Sona’s laugh brings me joy. I’m really glad her family is safe. And I wish her luck getting her life back together. Thank you Conan for keeping it together and lovely even with your family’s lost too. All love to this podcast.
It's so great that you guys chose to share this conversation with us. You could have chosen to have this as a private conversation but instead chose to share it with your fans. You guys are truly loved by us.
Hugs to Sona, I'm so glad you and your family are safe! Thank you for this amazing podcast, bringing the love and humor to a horrendous situation as only you can, Conan. You're the best.
So happy to see Sona smile, even of through tears. It reminds me of the show you did in Armenia, and how touching it was to see Conan support Sona through that. What a gift to have family and friends who support you. Good luck to everyone affected by this terrible event.
As someone who lost their house to a fire years ago, I truly empathize with Sona. It really does feel like it's the end of the world. Especially since we lost one of our dogs as a result too. A lot of childhood and personal things I'll never get back. I grew up in that house and cried for days afterwards just knowing we'll never be able to live there again. I'm still thankful to this day though that none of my family were hurt and we were all away when it happened.
My condolences for the dog, and the house. Hope you are well.
@@LordSesshaku Thank you, kind stranger.
@@cinderellacomplex7 We might be strangers in person, but unfortunately, only really fortunate young people and psycopaths are strangers to loss. In your case it was fire, in my case it was water. I always tought how lucky I was that my old and sick golden retriever passed a year before the flood, and that my current two stray cats came after the flood. I don't know how we would've managed otherwise when we had to evacuate the house with 1.3 meters of water on the street.
Something about Conan individually naming the people on the team as those who are here for Sona somehow made the support feel much more real than a broad “We’re all here for you” statement. It’s like a dog pile of love and care. ❤
This video makes me think Conan is a good host because he also happens to be a very good therapist. He was providing a sense of normalcy for Sona which she said she really needed, and letting all of us fans who consider Team Coco their parasocial besties know how things went and how everyone is holding up.
Sona is definitely amazing. She expresses herself so well through what is surely a harrowing time. And I am glad Gourley is there to be such a sweet and stalwart support.
Glad everyone is safe. We’re sorry Sona lost her home and everyone else who “was displaced” (how watered down this sounds 😔) by the terrible fires.
This show will help plenty of people who are going through the same thing process it
Bless you Conan for making Sona laugh. I’ve found that laughter is the only thing that truly heals when you are going through the hardest times in life.
Most wholesome episode of CONAF yet. Think a lot of people affected by these fires will be comforted by it.
Thank you for addressing the fires. All of us fans were worried. Glad everyone is safe. Sorry for your loss Sona. ❤
This made me cry. The experience of losing your home and being displaced and receiving the support and love Sona got from Team Coco is something I also encountered before. To be able to let go, cry, and laugh about it makes the process of moving on and starting again easier.
Sona has so much empathy for everyone, it’s beautiful and inspiring.
The moment I saw where the fire was happening, i couldn’t stop thinking of Sona. Sending love, thoughts, and prayers to Sona and everyone else affected by these fires.
So great to see everyone back together, mocking and picking at each other. And especially the support and love for Sona and family.
I don’t know how you did it but you manage to make us smile even when tragedy has struck and that cannot be understated. Conan, Sona, and Matt and everyone who works on the podcast, we love you guys. Thank you and stay safe.
You are making me very emotional guys, I've been thinking of you since I've heard about the fires. Sending love from Belgium ❤
So sorry for you Sona :( and Conan for the loss of his parents.
Sona is such a good person. She directs people to help other people instead of her.
It’ll be interesting to see how Conan addresses these events when he hosts the Oscar’s. I hope he focuses his comments on the non-celebrity victims of the fires. Thank you Sona. Thank you Conan. Thank you Matt.
I’m from Jersey and I can’t start to imagine the pain and loss everyone in LA is going through. I’m glad everyone is okay physically but I can’t imagine what the mental and emotional loss of losing your house and your possessions must feel like. It’s so devastating. It’s like losing much of who you are.
I am so grateful to ALL OF YOU for posting this episode. We do all love you and hearing about it from you w/love and humor means the world. xo
Ever since fires last week, I have been wondering how you all are doing. I listen to this podcast more than I really should, but I am so glad the three of you are back. It was such a heartfelt conversation. Thank you and hope all those affected can find some comfort in the days and months ahead and begin to put this behind them
So good to see all of you together.
Yes, it is indeed🧡
They really have their hearts in the right place. Proud to be a fan.
They are awesome. And that goes for the entire team💪🧡👍
Leave it to Conan to make Sona laugh so hard. We love you Team Coco!
I guess having Altadena be a constant Conan schtick and even filming episodes in Sona's back yard, makes her and her family's loss even more tangible and real to us strangers.
We're rooting for you and all the others who have lost or been displaced (There, Conan! I included YOU!)
Laughing thru the tears is a true gift.
You guys have been keeping me company for the past 3 years, through some of the loneliest times of my life. Since the fires started, I’ve been constantly thinking about you, Sona, Conan, Matt, your families and the whole Team CoCo basically. I don’t personally know anyone from the US, I’ve never been there, I’m so far away, but I just could not stop thinking about you.
I am so glad that you are all safe and healthy, laughing together and supporting each other through these tough times. I cannot put into words how much of a relief this episode has been. Like Conan said at the end, I really needed to process this, seeing you safe and sound and together in a room. Thank you ❤ I hope Sona and all those who got affected or lost their homes will find relief as soon as possible. Sending you all big hugs and lots of love ❤️
I’m glad you are ok and thanks for making me laugh for this stressful time thanks for bringing out the twist on things I needed that
Whether you are rich or poor, just imagine the loss of your home. It's devastating. And for people without any means it's crazy how tough it is going to be.
Sad how few people can empathize...
Thank you all for letting us know how you are doing and sharing your lives through the impact of the fires. It is like holding my breath for you guys and everyone that has been impacted by the fires. Getting to hear you how you are means a lot.
I am happy to know that you folks are safe.
Losing, almost, everything is something I cannot fathom.
Thank you for bringing a little humor to counteract this tragic situation.
Seeing the surgical way in which Conan deploys humour _exactly_ where it's needed is amazing to watch.
Glad Sona and her family are alright. Sorry for the loss of your home. Hope you can eventually build back in your community. Glad you have Conan to keep you laughing.
We in LA have to rethink what the future of these areas should be. A personal friend lost their Malibu home in the huge wildfire 7 years ago that kicked off the current era of highly destructive fires. They got some land in Topanga, have been building slowly. And that has now been lost in this fire.
So true and heartbreaking.
Sona was the first person I thought of when I heard the news that Altadena was burning. So glad to see you all together today, and sending you all love and best wishes from Canada.
I don’t know anyone personally who lives in the LA area. But since I listen to the podcast pretty much every day, I immediately thought of you guys when the fires started. I’m glad all of you are safe and my condolences to you all! ❤️❤️
I’ve been waiting for this one Team Coco. Glad to see you all safe. Sona, you’ve got everyone rooting for you and we have your back.
I am so happy to see sona laughing at Conan’s jokes. The moment I heard how hard Altadena was hit I thought of her. I thought of all of you with all the fires and glad to hear you’re all hanging in there.
This is when mediums like podcasts and video podcasts become so important. This is such a good listen on how a tragedy affects us emotionally and practically.
So much love in this room. What a lovely family indeed.
Thanks for uploading the full video - if there was ever an occasion that deserved seeing the video instead of audio, this is it. I, like many of the fans of this podcast living far away from LA thought of Sona as soon as we heard Altadena in the news, so we're glad to know everyone is okay and thinking about next steps.
I'm so glad you are all safe, but man when conan said "whatever you need I'll get you through this" @37:30 i just lost it
Love you guys! Humor in the face of tragedy really does heal.
Absolutely
I can't convey how much this episode means to me. Thank you for getting on the air and sharing this with us. It means a lot.
Peace and best health to you and all in LA. We love you, Sona! ❤
8.9 million subs just reached their arms out for Sona...It sucks but we're here for you!
Glad everyone is okay. Saw this just uploaded less than a minute ago so I haven’t watched the video yet but just wanted to express my relief and condolences.
I’m just glad you’re all alive!
This was so sweet. ❤ to Sona and everyone affected.
My heart breaks for Sona, her family, and everyone who has suffered losses during this awful disaster. Loss is suffering, and suffering deserves compassion. I admire you all for being able to laugh through the pain. Sending love from upstate NY.
You're such a part of our lives making us laugh & forget reality for a while; but when fans heard about the fires, all we wanted is for you & your families to be safe❤
0:24 Thank you for showing us that you all are okay! I have been worried and thinking about you all your safety!❤❤🇸🇪
Thank you team Coco for this touching display of resilience and humanity. My heart goes out to all those affected by the fires and to the great state of California.
Seeing Conan and Sona’s relationship over the years, as much as he says mean things or knocks things out her hands, you always know that he loves her. And as tragic as it is, I’m glad they took this opportunity to SHOW us that that side of him to say “I love you, I support you, and of course I’m going to do a bit but only because I want to make you laugh and smile again.” I love you all. Thank you for sharing your bond and your love and your vulnerability with us and for bringing us the opportunity and resources to support so many others who are suffering. Keep up the good work.
So sorry for Sona and all the others.
The last time Sona cried on camera was at the end of 'Conan O'Brien can't Stop'. This is literally the second time she has broken down... And I just remembered how easy it is to love good people. My heart goes out to her, her community and every stray and pet animal... May you never have to face this again.
Thank you for checking in guys. Our hearts are with you and everyone in LA.
Just lovely. The episode we all need right now.
I have been looking forward for all three of you. From Conan’s parents deaths and the wildfires in LA, disastrous things happened to you guys yet you still continue your show inspite of it. Thank you. 9:01 Hearing about Altadena, I automatically thought of Sona and his boys. You will be able to recover because you’re wonderful people. Godbless you.
Glad that everyone is ok. So sorry to hear that you lost your home, Sona, but you’ll be carried through this by so much love and generosity. Times like this can restore your faith in humanity.
22:11 Oh poor Sona, your feelings are so raw, you’re making me cry and usually I can watch sad things but now I’m sitting here and my eyes are overflowing with tears! I’m so sad for you and I been thinking and hoping you somehow got lucky!😢😢😢❤❤❤🇸🇪
So sorry for your loss. The awful devastation of communities. I'm glad you have people checking in with you.
The chill chums have been going through a lot. It breaks my heart to see the people who bring so much joy to me and many others hurting.
What a year for Team Coco. Kudos and thanks for sharing in this difficult moment. We all love you guys!
