hey paul, from Philippines here and I can relate to what your doing in your garden. I just love bringing nature close to home! In few months I will have my own place and I can't wait to do what you're doing. Looking forward to more plant vids! Cheers man!
@@paulplantu indeed, it would look very good. Get the Gran nain variety if you want Bananas that you buy in stores. Or just get Musa basjoo if you want fast growing and tall ones
Very cool solution for a tiny concret patio. To deal with pop up cold snaps, you might consider adding a freestanding trellis or free pallet half wall between the planters and the wall. Then gather some old quilts or an electric blanket and a tarp to keep the blanket dry and drape them off the wall (secured with clamps) over the plants (use some poles, chairs, or other structure to keep the blankets from crushing the plants while they stay warm during the bad weather. Once the weather passing, pull off the blankets for the instant reveal.
This is the best advice I’ve ever gotten. That’s such a good idea, I could even maybe use a little fire pit in that area too. Thanks so much for the tip!
@@paulplantu lauren from Gatden Answers reminds us not to put plants in heated areas when moving them in from the cold since it might shock them, so ignore my suggestion for an electric blanket.... (non- electric blankets should however be fine.) Consider setting the pots on a scrap carpet remnant to get them off the ground, but pull the rugs when you pull the blankets.
I just found your channel and as a dog lover and plant lover I’m there with you! The dogs underfoot the whole time like shadows is so true to their loyalty. Your dog at the croton planting had me rolling😆 he’s like yeah bru ain’t moving go arouuuund 😂. At the shot of fox in the planter I almost lost it! Awesome makeover
Just discovered your channel and now I'm a mega fan. My house is situated on a corner lot similar to yours and I have been debating literally for years on what to do. Most of the YT channels I've watched give ridiculously high prices for landscaping (mostly requiring trips to big box stores for pavers, mulch, etc.). You give down to earth somewhat easily accessible ways in which to make a beautiful area that is easy on the pocket book. I also like that you have taken into consideration the insects and animals that are so very important to all our lives in maintaining a habitable planet. My attitude in considering what to plant in my sidewalk yard is that grass feeds no one but needs a lot of babysitting (cutting, watering, feeding, maintaining), but a yard filled with native plants will feed insects, birds and other small animals. Also adding fruiting plants, trees and shrubs can feed my family. Thanks for all you do and I will also place the rallying cry "EARTH IS MY PLANET" in my garden utilizing some of the free bricks and stones I plan to pick up to send a message to others. You are totally awesome!
@@paulplantu wow I planted one when it was just a small cutting now it is going to be 30 years old in October It is a really nice tree it is a smaller tree though.
Hey! I'm in Houston, too. Outta school now and getting into gardening, which is something I did not previously have the time for. Thanks for the videos, information, and inspiration!
You did a great job!! Looks soooooooo good!! I have a lot of the same plants and they do really well in the pots! I have an elephant ear plant and the leaves on that plant are big enough to use as an umbrella ☔!! Crazy!! And it's relaxing to water your plants and watch them grow!! I love this channel so much!! Wish we could post pics on our comments so I could show you some of my plants I'm very proud of!! Stay safe and God bless!! 🙏🥰❤️
Hey man, I love your channel. I've been watching your videos on your garden and pond to get inspiration for our new home. Just an FYI, I'm big in the houseplant community, wandering jew is a racist term for the plant Tradescantia that we should no longer be using. Just call it Tradescantia or the inch plant! Love the patio.
Hey Paul, I am loving to content! Makes me think I can do it too. I love the concept of a food Forrest or a survival garden. Keep showing the alternative lawn options and the free.99 stuff! I love the delivery too… honest, intelligent, raw, and funny!
Thank you so much!! I'm going to do more permaculture food forest content for sure! Stay tuned and thanks for the comment you definitely need to get growing!!
@@paulplantu thank you a washingtonia robusta is a really cool fan palm that will survive in your area and the freeze I am in southwest Florida so I have pretty much the same zone as you 😀
Looks great. I just got a new outdoor space in our backyard and I’m going crazy buying plants. So much fun. But damn it’s so damn hot here in Orlando I’m sweating to death trying to get my new space looking good and tropical 🌴
Damnnn 🥵 place looks killer.. those planters are so worth the steaall... 💸💸💸 9:48 The cutest lil thing I've seen all daay 😭 Where'd the cola table set go 👀
I have three Standard poodles and I have only dared to put garden beds into my front yard. The back yard belongs to them! I guess I’ve always been worried they would piss all over the plants and ruin them. So I put everything into containers because the few times I did actually plant something into the ground, it would become the new piss spot and it would die after a while. I want to turn my backyard into a haven, but I’m afraid all of my efforts will go to waste. Do you have that problem with your dogs? Just curious
Hey Paul I need your opinion I have a screened in pool and I am looking for some plants to put around the screen do you think that the white bird of paradise would be good there? And I have a small island for plants in the middle of the pool what plant would look good there?
It depends on your growing zone and if you plant them in ground. For a tropical look, the bird of paradise would be good, hibiscus for all their flower colors, elephant ears, and small palm trees you could pot up.
Yo yo yo, that looks shpectacular but watch it… don’t be planting up your plants with soil all the way to the rim. Leave at least 2 inches so the water can penetrate into the plant and not flow out over the pot. 😍❤️
“Earth is my planet” I love your channel
The colorway on that cavendish dwarf banana was bonkers
It goes stooooopid
Foxy is hilarious. I love your dogs and your makeover. Thanks for the inspiration. You’re giving me my mojo back.❤
Game on my boi! You got the patio ready for everything under the sun. Official like a referee with a whistle. #earthismyplanet
I like the idea of putting the pots in first to see the arrangement THEN seeing what plonts fit those pots. Nice.

Your plants and arrangements are so inspirational! ❤️ Now I’m going to work on my backyard 😁😁

You finally Got a banana Tree! thank you. That Dwarf Cavendish Species is amazing. Hope it treats you well.
You’re welcome. I need to plant some bananas in the yard tbh

Respect.
Somebody finally got the background music right! 🎼You don't need holes in pots; cause you just lose water quicker.
It looks great! I love how your dogs are all up in your business XD
