As a crew member from 1965, that's me winding the winch at 3.00 minutes. Sadly the film is totally out of sequence. Brings back wonderful memories from 58 years ago. Could still name many of the crew. Yes, im still sailing at 78, but only gently! Thanks Graham
As soon as I saw the transom in the thumbnail, I knew it was Van de Stadt. My first boat, a Sprinter by the same designer and designed around the same time, had a very similar transom. Looking at the pictures of Stormvogel out of the water, the hull is also remarkably similar, in spite of being twice the length of the Sprinter. His boats of that time were always, in my opinion, very aesthetically pleasing.
StormVogel ( Storm Bird ) was designed by Van der Stadt and built in Cape Town for Cornelis ("Kees") Bruynzeel Jr. 1965 all pretty old - she was refurbished in Turkey. She was built using cold moulded ply which Cornelis was a developer of the timber. Another Classic Yacht was StormKaap also built in Cape Town of the Same designer!

Most interesting - Time capsule of a legendary racer designed by E.G. van de Stadt in an iconic Ocean Race
Indeed , More information over builder and designer would be better 🙂

Gorgeous looking yacht, but without narrative not very interesting.
