"Pie distribution" probably shouldn’t have been as funny as it was 😅
exploooosive flavor xD
“Finally time for pies”
YT and it's lunacy for "ad friendly content" makes for some hilariously creative workarounds..😂
it was the "he's not a fan of pie" that got me
I missed the crucial part and thought it was really about pies until the end where she said people were not very pleased.
Bombas gives their socks to a homeless shelter I used to be in and I was so effing grateful. The socks actually do kick ass.
I can validate this! 👍
All the more reason to support them, thanks for the info!
This is what I was wondering. Thank you for sharing your experience, although it's one I wish no one had to endure.
Too often you hear about a UA-cam sponsor company being a scam, and a few times they have even claimed to donate to various causes just for there to be no evidence of it ever happening. Good to know this isn't one of those
@@Awesummzzzpreviously homeless dude here, i still have my bombas socks! now that i have money and stability i buy them when i can, they're really great and i SOBBED when i was given some bombas socks, i still remember how embarrassed i was about that.. socks are a privilege man 🥹
@@kanghiskang1388 Cool. But also not if you were/are in a shelter.
I am so delighted with you covering these mockumentary films! I'm not sure if they would come across my radar otherwise; I am sure that I would miss a ton of cultural details that you point out which would leave me a poorer impression of the films. Thank you so very much.
is this like a big genre? I don't know how i got here lol
The first thing I thought of when seeing the end of Occult was the Ancient Egyptian myth of the Sea of Chaos. Ancient Egyptians believed the universe was a vast ocean filled with all sorts of Lovecraftian entities, including a giant snake called Apophis that tried to eat the Sun every night. For some reason that last scene reminded me strongly of that story.
Egyptian mythology is so cool
@@SakuraAsranArt The Mesopotamians and Egyptians both practically made the blueprint for cosmic horror. HP Lovecraft even took a lot of inspiration from them
Dude, it's honestly fucking great to have you back. UA-cam isn't the same without you. Hope life is good.
I actively avoided watching this movie because the description of it’s ending made me feel uncomfortable and legit scared, but after actually seeing the ending in this video…😂😂😂
I dunno if i should laugh or be scared by the ending. It is the same vibe as House XD
It is goofy, they can do it better with black screen and color flashinv and the character voice to convert the message better.that he is trapped in An Cosmic abomination's trap
What's even more messed up is the massive sense of tension and dread you get up until they finally do the deed in Shibuya. That the end result after that ends up being so hilarious replaced all the numb shock with straight up comedy. What a bizarre ride.
Me seeing a video that interest me: *Save to watch later playlist*
Seeing ReignBot Upload: *Drops everything and sits down to watch*
Innit.
Incorrect.
*Me looking for a video on CPR because bro is choking* *sees Reignbot in recommended* drops everything and sits down
Other way around for me. Watched it when I got home
In Japanese culture, the jellyfish is seen as a guardian of the spirit realm and is thought to guide the deceased into the afterlife.
woah, so those are the symbolisms Elden Ring had.
Really?
(I'm a Jap & I've never heard of it.)
Yume Nikki ending too
I'm Japanese and never heard of that.
So the only source I could find that said exactly this…was a redditor trying to overexplain an aspect of a video game…everything else I found concerning Jellyfish in Japanese mythology involved them sometimes being servants to the deity Ryujin. Now, that could also be incorrect…but all I’m saying is there were multiple sources for that than there were for this one claim… 😂
Funny story I want to share.
When I was in highschool many years ago, I actually read a wiki page of this film and was fascinated. Like any normal student, I quickly forgot its title and was unable to find it on the internet (I ended up reading some other weird Japanese films basically). So for a long time, there was this itch on the back of my mind that would appear randomly, urging me to find it. But I had no luck there.
All I could remember from what I originally read was that at the end, some guy was trapped in a hellish dimension with jellyfishes of all things.
So after so many years, that constant itch is finally over, and all it took was youtube scrolling a bit more than normal after a tiring day of work. Just like that.
What a weird coincidence.
Anyway thank for uploading this and helping me remove some nonsensical thought off my mind.
It’s nice to see you Reighnbot, I have watched you in a couple years but I remember you well from before the original apocalypse, stay awesome
Happy new years everyone
So glad you did a video on this movie! I've always said Noroi is like Shiraishi's Heredtiary while Oddity is his Midsommar.
What would Ari Aster's Sadako Vs Kayako be though?
😮 I'll watch those, I loved Noroi, thnz
One note about Bombas: They donate socks constantly! I used to go to a Christian thrift that would give you a 'hygiene bag' every other month, with shampoo, soap, a razor, a wash rag, and a pair or two of bomba socks. They're incredibly comfy, though a little tight around the ankle (my bf and I are both autistic, he doesn't like it but I don't mind). They're also very durable. I own 7 or 8 pairs, and they're all nice.
6:28
I bet Shuishi wishes the ankles of his socks were a bit tighter.
I watched Occult last night after the "pre-spoiler" section of your video... Great movie! Thanks for making this video about it!
where did you watch it?
I'm sorry, I know the story is serious, but the pie stuff has me rolling.
it isnt serious, its a fictional story, finding things funny is completely fine 😆
My favorite part of this movie was using google translate to understand the written text on the screen and getting more and more concerned about my search engine results as we got closer to the "Pie Distribution". But I had a great time. What a fun weird movie and thanks for covering these mockumentaries! I honestly wouldn't have found them otherwise.
Reignbot coming in hot again with an obscure foreign found footage film 🔥 I love this kind of content!
I LOVE this movie, the weird mix of Cosmic Horror, Ufology, and Japanese Mythology works so well. We've got cosmic atmospherics beasts with some unknowable plot to absorb human souls and our subject is so believable as the man serving it's bidding. I always interpreted the way Ebisu is portrayed is that ancient Japanese crafted the mythology around this cosmic force but in truth it was always...this.
where did you watch it?
0:22 that freaked me ouuuut 😅
😂😂😂😂😂😂
the whole ad feels ai 😂
I watched this one pretty recently and it has been one that hasn't been able to escape my mind since. Aside from just being terrified of a lot of the ideas presented, and despite some of the less than great special effects, it just works really well as this bizzare character study for two characters. One who had their life changed by that fateful event and the other being changed from that person.
Plus, I will now only be able to refer to that end scene as "the pie scene" so thank you for that.
Don't know if you've see noroi. But in case you haven't. That's also a good one
@112523 It's on my watchlist!
where did you watch it?
@Azerethh It's on UA-cam!
I think you’ll enjoy this bit of information: Occult is also somewhat of a critique of Japanese society in the 2000s, back then there was an “epidemic” of “random murders” or “street murders” as they would come to be called in Japan. There were several cases of people randomly killing people in train stations, temples, touristic spots or even just on a random street with knives or blunt objects, a lot of the attackers would justify the killings by saying they were dissatisfied with their lives and the conditions of society around them. They were often young men who survived from temporary jobs and lived in temporary accommodations such as manga cafes. Eno’s characters was designed to represent that sort of person.
I just watched this here on UA-cam. Thanks for recommending me this. So absurd yet excellent at the same time. Happy new years to you!
this video being 16 minutes is a crime, needs more of these japanese mockumentary
So glad this is now the Japanese mockumentary channel
RAHH RAHH I DROP EVERYTHING EVERYTIME YOU POST IM SO EXCITED
6:00 The overreaction to a book falling off a table is hilarious.
I immediately thought the found footage aesthetic was reminiscent of "Noroi".
Well, it makes sense that both films are directed by the same guy.
Oh man, watched this film a couple months ago after binging all of Senritsu Kaiki File Kowasugi and loved it, although I couldn't stop thinking about it when visiting Shibuya for the first time 😅 Favourite part has to be when the random man starts beating Eno shouting "It's Hell!"

IM SO HAPPY YOU POSTED!! LITERALLY NEW YEARS!!
Hello
This feels like a full wrap around, your Saiko video introduced me to interesting Japanese Mockumentries and now you're talking about my favourite! Exciting.
I mean... i got sooo caught up in the pie euphimism for a minute i had no idea what was going on... I was very disappointed with myself 😅 This video was great im just a dumbass... 😂
Okay, I watched the movie before watching your video as you recommended and really enjoyed it. Looking forward to what you have to say! EDIT: You can hear the voice of the guy who chased Eno when he was buying stuff from the gardening store saying 'It's hell!' over and over at the end, so I think he knew what Eno was going to do and tried to stop him. We do see both leech-like and jellyfish-like 'ufos'/ shadow creatures, so it makes sense.
REIGN'S DOING MORE JAPANESE MOCKUMENTARIES!
It's a good day.
Eno's villainy is the type that keeps you up at night. The man isn't committing evil for any material or rational reason. He just did it to feel special. It's too real, and we can recognize that in a lot of people
I honestly wouldnt even say it is villainy or that he did it to feel special. He was being bombarded by the voice of a god who convinced him that what he was doing needed to happen after an incredibly traumatizing event. Unfortunately, not every god in this universe is benevolent. This one just wanted to feed.
Try to look at it from his perspective though. Of course, only hearing voices and seeing things would make you a villain but imagine the voices are true (the car crash scene), the film-able worms and things moving on their own, it would be stupid not to side with something as powerful as "it".
Love this!!! Thanks for another great upload Reignbot, so happy to see you back! 😊
Happy new year!!! 🎊🥳
I just love listening to you talk. Thank you so much for another excellent video!
I don't often stop to watch the thing before the UA-camr explains the thing. But with you, I do. And I don't regret it at all.
This movie is awesome. Your pie analogy is also awesome. Thank you for the video!
It's nice to see this movie getting coverage. I watched it earlier this year and remember being slightly disappointed by the ending but otherwise really loving it. I hope more people will seek it out after watching this vid, especially since it's free online right now
where did you watch it?
@Azerethh it was on UA-cam for a while but it looks like there's only a Spanish subs version up right now. I believe it's also on the Internet Archive with English subs though!
Hope you have a good new year, Reignbot!
Happy New Year’s, Reign!! 🍾
saw this with my wife a while back. genuinely one of the most fun, batshit movies i've ever seen. thanks for making a video on it! hopefully more people will get to experience it now lol
Didn't realize it's been 2 months since the last one, time flies. It's worth the wait tho! Thanks for keeps making these types of videos, and have a happy new year🎉

Films like this are my fave! Ty for covering since I can’t stream it anywhere.
Glad you recommended this. As a lover of House and Informercials, I'm glad you made me aware of a movie I might not have ever stumbled on
I’m just sitting here, reeling from both the concept of saying "the pie distribution" to reference the EXPLOSIVE FLAVOR to the whole ending at large
Every time reignbot uploads 2 things can happen: I save the video for a special moment or if I’m having a shitty day I straight up watch the thing
the ending freaked me out, badly. it both tripped a switch in my brain that gave me a flash of the feeling / mind-set / emotional shock & instant destitution of my experience going from existential dread - which is what i assume is mans natural state, subconsciously or not, from inception to either: 1) death - which is how most people seem to go thru life, and again, mostly not being aware of it (lucky, blessed, ignorant, blessedly-lucky-ignorant-fortunates that they are), or 2)the question is answered - the moment it all crystallizes in your mind, the realization of the big picture & the recognition of the infinite void as the absolute reality & your inescapable, incontrovertible importance & standing in relation to ultimate existence. which is absolutely none. at all. not the merest wisp of a flicker of a breath of a shadow. So, some of that, combined with a small sense of familiarity of place only vaguely glimpsed in journeys to the remotest environs of hyperspace along with the mental response to learning that for whatever lies beyond this existence, i truly have not only no control over, but who/whatever may be in charge of those unimaginable, inconceivable lands has not the slightest interest in my opinion or thoughts on the matter... as well as the very distinct impression than i will be called upon to play my part or relied upon to fulfill some expectation that i cannot in the barest, slightest manner begin to comprehend. i don't know what they have planned or prepared for me, but i did get the impression that it is something foundational or primitive, basic and underlying, structural almost to existence & i don't know if it's just mine or actually meaningful to other? things? places, entities, thoughtforms, realities? situations, stories, histories, truths? lies? but i know i don't know. but i think i know i don't like it & i don't want to play & i don't want it or the weight of responsibility or failure or success just leave me out of it & leave me alone & this is a terrible idea just all the way around.....
Although the end scene ooks nothing like any of that other, it does manage to convey the feeling or the deeper message. so yeah.... it freaked me out a little bit. just a bit. ha. haha. hahahnnmnnmmm...
Welcome to eldritch horror.
@erbenwerben93 been living it for as long as i can remember...

Thanks for recommending this! I watched all of senritsu Kaike file kowasugi a few months ago and really enjoyed it!
Oh my goood i love this director so much, so cool to have you cover one of his movies. Wish they had better distribution
I LOVE this one so much, I've probably watched it at least 10 times by now. I just really enjoy these found footage or mockumentary movies that appear to be very low-budget "bad" stuff but are actually ten times more enjoyable to watch than hollywood movies sdhfsid. No matter how silly some of these effects look, the way they're delivered works IT JUST WORKS
And lots of asian countries do horror just a little different in general, it's amazing
Decided to watch the movie before watching this video and when they mentioned that that god had been born without limbs that did remind me of Ebisu who I knew had been born without BONES, but i had no idea the name used in the movie was another name for him! It seems that in some stories he is born without limbs, but I didn't know about those lmao
Thank you for covering this btw! Just like the mockumentary about that family, this was a really cool and different experience from what I'm used to irt horror movies. I'll for sure recommend it
I know a lot of people don't like the editing at the end but that's such a specific jhorror aesthetic that I can't help but like it KJHGDKJ
I was also pleasantly surprised to find out that the creator of Pulse was in the movie! I hadn't heard his name or seen his face before, since I only watched the movie, but that one was also very strange. I think at the time I didn't like it much and didn't click with the jhorror techno horror vibe but it for sure left a uh...impression...lmao
Great upload for the new year!
I am so glad I paused to watch the movie like you recommended! This has to be one of my all time favorite horror movies.

Babe wake up, she finally posted a new video
Thanks for covering this movie, it's an interesting one! The jellyfish + leech hell scene at the end made me think about the Japanese horror short Blue Hole (it's on youtube!) for some reason, haha
14:58 To be noted, we do appear to be shown an adherent, if not outright avatar, of one of the other seven lucky gods Daikokuten (whom Ebisu/Hiruko is paired with amicably in real world practice ), who in this portion of the Occult - Cult - A Record of Sweet (redated) universe presumably serves as the American led coalition against Ebisu/Hiruko's radical fundamentalist movement, engaging with Eno during the segment in 10:28. Clue being that he is wielding a bag of fortune (plastic bag full of loose change attached to a towel), with which he uses to admonish Eno and dissuade him from following through with the pie distribution.
Yay! I love this movie, and after seeing you cover the Saikyo family mockumentary, I was hoping you'd cover this!!
Happy new years!!
havent finished watching the video but one of the actor looked familiar in 1:44. turns out he also starred in Midnight Diner. Shohei Uno played as Komichi.
Thank you for this.
My god you make me want to dive deep to find good foreign horror film I thought I enjoyed horror but there are most definitely levels to this
Thinking that I'm ruined from all of the back rooms content that I've consumed this year? That ending had me thinking he recorded his own death & the deaths of those he took with him. It's as if his spirit went to an actual place. This could be a version off death or the afterlife. A place just as surreal & unnerving as the back rooms & he took all of his victims with him to it?? Yuck, why do I like it?? Cause, overall it's a super interesting consept, great execution & perfect ending. I liked it.
You _honestly_ did a really great job with this one. In fact, you never fail to keep me glued to my screen, for the entire duration of your videos.
