The new Range Rover Sport has a hell of a pair of shoes to fill, but it is lighter, faster and arguably better looking than its predecessor. It'll also do everything a full fat Range Rover will do... does that mean the Range Rover needn't exist?

I prefer the older one, this looks like a mix of a freelander and a evoque. Still looks beautiful, but i think that the older model had an personality that this can't give anymore. And the video was very good made, congrats
This guy is what i call, one of the wonders of the journalists world along with Chris Harris etc.
The traffic light thing, if you're sat in one of these at the lights and a proper big RR pulls up next to you, you'll wish you had the bigger one. It aint slow either.

I test drove the 2014 RR Sport and loved it but was a bit surprised how small the leg room was in the back seat. :(
Haven't seen any Ranger Rover got so much off-roading since Top and Fifth Gear
I still prefer the RR, but this sport is obviously much better than the previous generation.
I dont know why but this guy is really good at reviewing cars.

XCAR needs to replace "fifth gear" they are just better. and the production quality is excellent. I hope they find a way to pay for their quality work! thanks guys.
take a look at autotopnl videos they did a timed acceleration video of the cayenne turbo and the 2013 full fat range rover (not sport). the full fat range rover was only slower by 0.1 sec to 200km/h compared to cayenne which did it at 16.9 sec while the full fat range rover 17.0
Followed this down an single track A road, the road has a short dual carriageway and I pulled out to overtake 4 cars including this expecting to pass easily in my Jaguar XF-S but the sport pulled away which really was rather upsetting for me

at 7:08 you can see that on the rear right side there is a panel that has come off hmmmm...
Ha my friend owns one of these "really capable" vehicles and he got it stuck, I pulled him out with my chevy (which cost about 1/2 or 1/3 the RR) and I drover through the area he got stuck, did some donuts and drove back across.
Isn't that the same one as Hammond drove in top gear cause of the missing door trim at 7:08

This is the Range Rover Sport Supercharged with the V8 engine, so it starts at $79,000. They also are available with V6's, but who want's that?
I do like it, how's the room? I have a LR3 and its awesome and i actually love its boxyness! I think the new Ranges look too much like Ford explorers, obviously they are quite nicer but still, doesn't hold the same unique look as they used to
we'll have to wait a few years for the full reliability reports. i test drove one. definitely a sweet car but until i see repair / recall reports in a few years, 90k is a stiff price to pay.
I actually prefer the previous design. It looked a bit more manly and "Range Rover"-y while this looks a bit more sleek and "Sport"-y.
it became like the evoque, and smaller than the previous generation. the all new range rover looks much better by all means. the advantage of the sport is the exhaust system and the dynamic mode and all other options are copied from the range rover vogue

oh yeah, i forgot this tidbit... check out the new Ford Explorers too... the headlamp / tail light design is strikingly similar and the grills utilize the same billet design - coincidence?

Faster, less break-down prone, cheaper spare parts, better fuel economy, big enough for Europe narrow roads, looks sharper, better in road and off-road capability, and Half the price of a Range-Rover Sport, what is it?
it's the Jeep SRT8 , also TopGear have much fear of that brand that the last Jeep they ever reviewed was in 1998 and they only mentioned something like " don't buy this one, because next year there will be a newer model".
I disagree. To me they are the 3rd best, right behind Top Gear and Chris Harris. Just my opinion though.

Range rover's are ridiculously cheaper after only 1 year, its pathetic. And yes, i have had one leased- thank god only leased.
0-60 in 5 sec is fast but not crazy fast. The cayenne turbo, x5m, jeep srt will be that easy.

It's curious that they should offer it with two gearboxes. Do they both have low range? Is the off road version a lower ratio than the on road version?
It does have low range, but no locking diffs'. Instead it has some fancy electronics, from what I've heard they work, but it would been better to just be able to lock the diffs'
Billiamiscool Is that the only difference between on road and off road versions of the gearbox, locking diffs?
I honestly don't know, here in Australia they don't offer two gearboxes so I don't know the difference, the best way to find that out is either to Google it, or if that fails, go to a LR dealer and ask

ianrkav It’s deliberately misleading , what he means is that , for extra cost , you can specify a two speed transfer box , giving the option , which very few would ever use , of low ratio for serious off-roaming.

I think this car looks too much like the little baby Evoque, if you look at it from the back. And that I feel is a mistake, making a big car look like the small car.

I have had one for 4 years and not once have I used Sport Mode or Dynamic mode. Pointless gimmicks. if you want a sports car buy one?
