    Hey friend
I'm a farmer from Brazil and I really enjoy your videos! My family and I plant soybean, corn and wheat. We live in Rio Grande do Sul state. It is really nice to see how things work in America! Best regards.

Love the Mohawks on my kinze. Run them on both sides. Can get away with less down pressure than normal rubber wheels. Work good in about any condition. Do mostly no-till and some VT.

I run Mohawks also. I dribble n on both sides with a rubber drag hose dropping n in the crumble left by closing wheels.

We are attempting to plant into heavy sod no till right now. Have you tried the Martin closing wheels? I see benefits to each. I think these are more forgiving across more acres probably than the Martins. What is your thoughts?

Yetter Mfg. is only about 80 miles from where we live ! Lot of different designs out there for closing wheels ,they all are good in the right situation ,hard to have a universal one especially between conventional and no-til . How long do you usually leave your alfalfa stands ? I know it's very expensive to establish ! Does all your nitrogen all go down as urea besides the starter? Do you have the herbicides applied behind the planter? Sorry so many questions just curious how you do things there! Thanks for giving us the closer comparisons !

    Have you considered......
    2680H High-Performance Disk
We also want to take a look at the highlights of the new 2680H High-Performance Disk another true spring and fall tillage tool. The 2680H combines speed and tillage performance in one machine. It is capable of field speeds of 10 to 14 miles per hour while effectively tilling more than twice as many acres per day compared to traditional disks of similar size.
    Sizes
Deere offers a wide range of sizes including 15 different models from 8-foot mounted models to drawn models up to 45-foot wide. Customers can choose the right model to fit their acreage and horsepower requirements.
    Features
One unique feature is the individual 20-inch smooth or notched disk blades mounted on a rubber torsion suspension system with nine inches of travel that allows the blades to follow ground contours, ride over obstructions and spring back into position for a consistent field finish. The blades are positioned on 10-inch spacings for maximum residue flow and angled, 17 degrees on the front rank and 14 degrees on the rear rank, for aggressive horizontal soil movement and crop residue incorporation.
Depth control is easy to set on the 2680H because of a simple shim system. Daily maintenance is eliminated due to greaseless bushings and bearings, increasing your uptime in the field.
The 2680H comes with a variety of rear finishing attachments, including standard cage roller, optional spring-tine, or optional rubber rollers with hydraulically adjustable scrapers that reduce plugging even in in sticky soil conditions. High-flotation tires come standard on drawn models to reduce soil compaction.
Whether you are looking for a high-performance, residue-burying machine or a highly versatile, multi-season tillage tool that can cover lots of acres quickly and effectively, the new 2660VT Variable-Intensity Tillage Tool and 2680H High-Performance Disk add unique capabilities to John Deere’s extensive tillage lineup.

You'll like those closing wheels, we run furrow cruisers on both sides and wouldn't plant without them. They use them to plant on strips, but they're really good in notill as well.

You’d be surprised how well a field cultivator would change the soil conditions to plant in. Helps dry the wet ground out unlike the disc. Just my to sense looks like they really help. 👍

Nice info on the closing wheels. I think in no till the more down pressure on the closing is a good thing. I had one year where it caused ribboning, probably because it was too wet.

They work much better than rubber, but wear out much faster than Schafert wants you to believe. I have run about 3,000 acres on a 12 row and I would say they are half gone at least and the plastic halves are shot and peeling. Two work better than one, but I'm in notill. Good luck.

I just looked at some no-till ground I planted. I saw some some kernels on top of the ground. It was hard ground. Having the no-till coulter mounted on with planting unit will bring the whole assembly out of the ground when it hits a rock or hard ground.

We ve been 100% no till on corn and beans for the last ten years and have had great results every year. The only restriction is we don"t put our dairy manure on our crop ground in spring for compaction reasons, It goes on hay ground and crop ground in fall. Only down fall is slower drying in spring to get on the ground but you will be grateful
    in a dry summer.

Those look like they work well. I haven't seen those in action before. We run 13" Martin spike closing wheels on both sides of the row in corn, one neighbor runs 1 rubber and 1 15" martin spike, another schlagel posi-close wheels on both sides of the row. All work but have situations where one system works better than the other. The biggest downside to an aggressive spike like the Martin or yetter is if it turns off dry you need to switch back to press wheels or you'll lose your moisture in the seed zone through that loose soil over the seed. What are you running for starter fertilizer? Are you doing just the 2x2 or an in furrow as well?

Great video andy nice to see an actual in field comparison of things working . We are currently a conventional til operation but they are talking about doing some no til next year and i had said something about having to setup the planter a bit different. Our issue is we have a lot of bed pack manure because we have 5 different livestock units (dairy, beef, sheep, poultry and horse ) so spreading the penpack it always gets tilled in, I'm wondering how no till will work in conditions like that, i think there's a few guys close by that do spread penpack and no til just going to have to go visit them and ask some questions. We also have liquid manure from the dairy so we could i supposed pick a few fields and only apply the liquid and no till those.

I put on some SI finger tills on this year after watching a guy that really liked them. Im really liking them to, some guys put tt300 fertilizer tubes on and run liquid behind the wheel and the idea is the fertilixer will run down the notches made by the wheel.

You did an awesome job on this video. I have not found a manufacturer that has done one that in depth yet with the explanation you have done. I have been running spiked closing wheels for 6 years and it was a good move for me. I have noticed that I can back off the pressure even on no till ground some from what I use to do . Closes trench nicely and won't compact it like the old wheels did. And you are correct with this year, normally conditions are dryer for planting and the seed has good placement and trench closure. So far the emergence looks good on the corn, beans have some variations but all did finally push out.
