Yes they are advance in the sense of better transportation. But when it comes to cities. Philippines modern cities are even better than some cities of the first world countries. I am retired seaman.
More advance in what aspect though? Most major cities in the philippines honestly look more advanced than most cities in korea. Sometimes cities in other more developed countries are just overrated.
You guys should also try visiting SM Mall of Asia and the historic sides of Manila such as the Manila City itself, the Walled City of Intramuros, Rizal Park, and Binondo (The world's oldest Chinatown).

There are lots of modern destination in Makati, Taguig (BGC), Pasay (MOA Bay area, Okada, City of Dreams, Star City), Pasig (Ortigas etc), Quezon City (North Edsa chain of commercial & entertainment), Alabang (ATC, Filinvest, etc). You'll love it here in Luzon Island its a mix of modern & traditional culture. One of the big Korean community is at BF Homes, Paranaque, you feel like you're in Korea town so many stores, groceries, entertainment. For nature destinations there are cold Tanay Rizal, Tagaytay Cavite, Baguio/Sagada & Benguet trips, beaches of Batangas, La Union, Aurora Province, Zambales, Ilocos & Cagayan province, Bicol/Sorsogon/ Caramoan beaches & volcanoes. All of the above are in one Island of Luzon, plus center of government is in Manila, all foreign embassy in Manila, best hospitals, schools all can be travelled by land. Enjoy your stay, you might wanna settle permanently though.

visit the GREENFIELD district, Mandaluyong city, along Shaw boulevard, near EDSA...many restaurants n cafes around the Park...many young people mostly working in the call centers
that place in makait is called greenbelt mall and it also connects to sm and glorietta malls..the malls are connected to each other..that is a good place to walk and roam around..and outside you will see the top 5 star hotels competing with each other... the rich people usually is in makati...because of hotels and shoppingmalls near each other
