- Frosty the Snowman is a beloved, holiday classic for some reason. Even though Frosty is a selfish, stupid, kinda pointless character; the kids love him. I roast the heck out of this 1969 animated presentation, just in time for Frosty's birthday!

I picture Hinkle, all these years later, still frantically writing "I'm sorry, Frosty" in his dark, cramped apartment. No contact with the outside world. He just sits and toils with his quill and parchment. In the back of his mind knowing,, Santa, along with the rest of the world, gave up on old Professor Hinkle long ago.

WHAT?! Frosty the Snowman is a masterpiece! You just didn't get it, bro. It's about metaphors and the search for one's soul. It's layered. Has depth. And the special affects are beyond reproach. As for the score and the sound affects, movies like Gladiator wishes.

I loved that song. I played it over and over again on a record. What can I say? It was the 70's.
Been watching a lot of the Rankin / Bass TV specials the past couple Decembers with the kids - and truthfully, all of them are a bit silly and nonsensical. But the music is good and the characters endearing enough, so everything else sort of gets a pass, haha.
I rewatched Frosty several years ago and was absolutely baffled. I know Rudolph and Santa Claus is Coming to Town have their issues as well, but not like this! 😵

He saved her from what? Freezing to death, after bringing her with him to the North Pole without even letting her parents know! Keep in mind, this video is all for fun. I don't actually care about this crap but it's funny looking back on these childhood classics and some of the odd story decisions.

The Family Switch actually isn't a bad "christmas" movie, I use the quotations because it's sort of a Christmas-adjacent movie, it's not really about Christmas, just takes place at Christmas time. I would be interested to see Adam's take, it's very formulaic and predictable, but not in a bad way, the characters are funny and interesting, it's got some surprisingly good jokes. I liked it more than most of the newer stuff coming out.
Frosty the Snowman is clearly the goldfish (or village idiot) of the snowmen and snow-women community due to his short-term memory disorder like a goldfish swimming around the same castle in a bowl over and over again thinking it's something new never seen before. ;)

Rankin and Bass are legendary. Other worthy Christmas Specials by them are The Little Drummer Boy and Nestor The Long Eared Christmas Donkey. Make sure you have tissues handy. Sensitive children may cry. They'll be alright. Gen X is stronger for it. I can't speak for Millenials.⛄️🥁

I always preferred Rudolph. Even as a kid I found so many plot holes when I was as watching my grandmother and my mother told me to stop watching it. I still try to catch it every year, but if a child finds issues with rite children’s story 🤷🏽♀️ 😄
