Thanks for doing the "milk run" version instead of the direct route. Gives us a insight not just into the outback airports, but the daily existence on the Rex runs.
Great Video. I have been following your trips around Australia. Wow I have travelled the Australian Outback too because of your enjoyable and informative channel. Thank you and continue your adventures 👍❤️
OMG I've been waiting for this video and finally have the time to watch it! It's exactly what I needed after a tough and exhausting couple of weeks. I can't even remember the last time I was in a turbo-prop. Good tip about bringing your own food on board. Strewth $25 for a toastie and wrap?! At least you got a single seat to yourself. I love that the cabin crew highlighted the quicker, more comfortable and cheaper direct flights. There are some airport and town names I have NEVER heard of before. Noted that I need to get Telstra as i seriously doubt Vodafone will have reception out there. Private jet realness! How bloody cool. Once in a lifetime opportunity. Seriously chuffed you were able to do this milk run and share it with us. Dare I say this, my favourite of ALL your videos thus far.
Doesn't look like the hut at Windorah has changed much since I was there in 2015, like you I was going all the way to Mount Isa on the milk run. Dad and I had the plane to ourselves from Boulia to Mount Isa. Git there late as the aircraft broke down in Charleville and a replacement had to be brought in from Townsville. Charleville still had the original terminal building back then.
Enjoyed the video Ryan, thanks for taking us with you, looking forward to the next flight to Cairns. Pity no KFC in Quilpie, that Ute definitely had room for a bucket or two 😜
Wow , what a great video . I’ve always found the Australian outback scenery so captivating , and usually spend my entire time when flying over it staring out of the window , albeit at 35,000’ , I’d much prefer a flight at 10,000’ on a Saab 340 . Thanks Ryan in sharing the very “ different “ perspective of flying , and I hope the rest of your travels are as good as this one . Happy travels Ryan 👍
LOVE THIS! Excellent trip report and content! Reminds me of my time flying in C-130s, all throughout Iraq. It made for some long days and you brought back some memories! Fly safe and looking forward to more content!
Another lifetime ago, I used to serve in the forces too. And I've flown the C130 over long distances as well. My seat was on one of those net fold downs and my butt was marked for a long time, like how you score a squid before cooking them! 🤣
Great video. We have some real gems in Qld. The state government awards subsidised contracts all over the state to keep certain routes viable and this is one of them. Actually, the new contracts started last December/January. Your next flight is a real gem that runs from Mt Isa to Cairns and goes via Doomagee , Mornington Island Normanton etc in both directions. It's about 5 hrs and and has some incredible views of the wild tundra and the gulf. I'm booked on the Cairns to Mt Isa ( ZL5453) 1239 to 540pm.At $218 it has to be the best value scenic flight around
@@ryansofly If your up in Cairns again- i would also recommend doing Qantaslink, Cairns to Horn Island. You can do it as a day return as they have up to 3 return per day and the use the Q400 on this route. you will be right in Torres straight up there and the scenery is gorgeous . Recommend May- September up there as well.
@@Electrotract indeed some members of a frequent flyer forum I'm a part of have suggested the same. Heading to Horne, I'll truly be at the northern most airport of the country. Fly there on Skytrans, back on QF link.
I’m a flight attendant and even I get a little queasy when the turbulence is constant. Even if it’s not heavy it’s just that constant movement that affects the inner ear!
Thanks for popping by. As much as I fly, I used to get very air sick in every single flight until I was 12. I've never been sick in the plane until this flight. The feeling was definitely déjà vu! 😂
You’ve seen more of Qld than this 47 year old Brisbaneite has. 😂 I want to see more of Qld and Australia soon. How much did this flight cost and how far in advance did you have to book?
This flight was a small part of a bigger itinerary with Rex. So this was Brisbane to Isa (milkrun 1), then there was Isa to Cairns (milkrun 2), and then Cairns Bamaga Cairns return. This has to be done through the call center and they stitched this entire itinerary together for me with much difficulty. Total damage was just over 2.5 grand. So no, this isn't a cheap adventure. 🤣 Rex was so intrigued with my booking they even sent someone to see me at Cairns airport and gave me a model plane and a cap. Hahaha....
@@ryansofly whoa…😳 That’s a LOT. 🤯 It’s annoying that it’s so expensive to travel around this country- no wonder most Australian born people have seen more of overseas than our own motherland. Lol @ the freebies they gave you- that’s sweet. 🙂 Did you record/ upload the other legs of this journey?
@@rachkate76 yes this was all done during COVID when we could not travel overseas. I have an entire video travel series covering these flights plus my time up in Cape York, which is an incredibly beautiful park of Australia! Aussie domestic flights are seriously overpriced. Always has been. I live in Adelaide and was once planning a trip to Kangaroo Island for 5 days. Drive, ferry, stay at a motel etc.... Ended up cheaper to fly to NZ. 🤣

No worries, my pleasure! It was certainly a great way to spend the day. Thanks for watching!
I really loved this flight , what an experience you had, thank you so very much for all your flight reports , I love watching…. Cheers Garry
You're very welcome, Garry! Its stuff made for bucket list. Try it some day. Thanks for popping by. 🙏
Strangely satisfying watching this. ❤
Thanks for watching! Don't forget there's also a part 2 to this! 🤣

Loved the milk run I had done earlier this year from Cairns to Mt Isa; Mt isa to Brisbane.
Indeed, this milk run is stuff bucket list is made of! Thanks for watching!

Man... All thanks to COVID we were forced to travel within Australia only. Beautiful, but very expensive. Hahaha. Thanks for watching!

Such a cool video and an even cooler experience. Thanks for sharing. Out of interest how much did the ticket cost ?
This flight was part of a wider itinerary. 2 milk runs plus a Cairns-Bamaga-Cairns. All came in at about AUD1300.

Yes the scenery....it looks heaps better close up. I'd do this again in a heartbeat if it wasn't so expensive.
Wow - this trip really was epic! How incredible to have the whole aircraft to yourself. Nice work! 👍
Ha thanks Adam... I'd do it again in a heartbeat if it wasn't so damn expensive. 🤣
Wow this is really awesome....what a great way to see Australia!
Great video Ryan - I’ve done this run a couple of times terminating at Bedourie 😁 You’ve brought back some wonderful memories ☺️
Yes looks like majority of the people got off in Bedourie!
Hi Ryan thanks for the video food looked absolutely great.
@maureen, hahahaha the food was my own which I bought from the airport in Brisbane!
