Susie's First Scene: "Meet the Carmichaels" | Rugrats | Nick Animation

In honor of Black History Month, we're celebrating the first appearance of Susie Carmichael and her family on "Rugrats," in the episode "Meet the Carmichaels" which premiered on January 10th, 1993.
Cree Summer, the voice of Susie, said it best in an interview with Splinter News: "Susie came at a time when I don’t think we were seeing a lot of little black girls in animation or a lot of little black girls on TV, period. I think she moved a lot of people and made us feel good about ourselves.”
