Awesome guard. I like the simplicity and the fact it doesn't obscure your view like the heavy metal stock one.

Hi John, thanks for your videos. I have the PM-1030 and the PM-25. I would really like to know where you got the T-slot covers for the lathe. Thanks, I enjoy your channel,John M.

John, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I printed them with a 3D printer. The files are on Thingaverse if you have a printer. ~John

Thanks for following along with my videos. So far, I've been happy with the PM 1024. This is the fifth lathe I've owned and has been one of the best. Due to retirement, I did downsize to the 1024, however if I had the room I once did, I would definitely get a lathe with a quick-change gearbox. The gearbox makes for easier thread cutting. If you aren't planning on doing much thread cutting this lathe will be excellent. ~John

I also have the same lathe. But I guess my experience is the exception.
I am like you never having a lathe before. So wanting to learn got the 1030v. I started to play with scraps of metal and ended up discovering the bolts holding the machine together are extremely soft metal. So I stripped the t-slot bolts holding the carriage down. That set me back $125 to get a local machine shop to manufacture me higher quality bolts that would last. Once those were strengthened up the tool post bolt stripped. So I got two replacement bolts from PM right away. Excellent company to deal with I will admit.
I installed a new tool post bolt and the second the tool in the post kissed metal the new bolt stripped and the qctp fell off again. On my machine the bolt barely catches the nut. Only the very tip of the bolt reaches the nut so the qctp is held down by one or two threads. After that I gave up and tarped my lathe and it's sat untouched for years. If I recall I probably at best maybe have 10-12 hours on it. Other priorities and expenses I can't afford to rebuild the lathe piece by piece. But if you do get a lathe that is small and budget friendly be prepared to replace a lot of parts on it as they break. And they will break. It's a budget machine for a reason.
