'Frozen' Broadway Actor Grabs Trump Banner From Audience Member During Show

- It was a cold and swift response at "Frozen" on Broadway when an audience member held up a President Trump banner during the musical’s curtain call. And cast member Timothy Hughes immediately snatched it from him and threw it off stage.
Lol, he just doesn’t have the guts to wave that thing at Hamilton
I'd love to see him try lol
He probably can’t afford tickets.
That's one shot he'll definitely throw away lol
I love this comment so much
@@icarrotbooks9688 He probably can. He is a trump supporter with access to Broadway tickets, after all.
I couldn’t care less if you want to express your political opinion, but don’t just go up and block the stage during a performance *ESPECIALLY* during a curtain call. It’s rude and disrespectful to the cast and crew
Theme Park Enthusiast I love that you said “couldn’t” 🤗 yay, someone understands.
Totally agree with your point too.
We’ve worked our asses off so for someone to do that would be very rude and disrespectful considering the amount of work that went in only for you to try to make it your political moment
I like Trump and totally agree with u, I feel the same when people wanna protest during sports events
@@abrahamrivera6298Why we have to play the National Anthem at sports events? Most you standing and saluting never even served. Poser patriots
Scott J the only way to be patriotic is to serve? Huh?
I don’t care who you support you don’t do that during a play
Exactly.
Agreed. Don’t wave ANYTHING.
Musical**
Yep.
EXACTLY WHAT I WAS GONNA SAY 👏👏👏
he would have grabbed the banner regardless of whether it was trump or not- because it's just not the place for any sort of political propaganda
pottylottie But only Trump supporters are dumb enough to go to BROADWAY and pull some dumb stunts like that.
agreed
Honestly!
@@potatofamine9353 Even though
liberals throw rocks at windows and attack people for liking Trump. Trump supporters are stupid.
lindsayainge84 Thats a vague and broad counterargument. You dont go to Broadway to fly a flag around trying to promote your shite political views. Period. At least “liberals” have that much common sense where as Trumptards dont.
Yeah, I can say as a theater geek, what that guy did ruined the curtain call, which is supposed to be a moment of appreciation for the actors, the creative team, and the audience at the end of a show. I would be mad if someone did that with any type of politcal sign, because it's super disrespectful either way
Jamie Hood relax jack they’ve already did that curtain call a hundred times and they’re going to do it again a hundred times more.. they’re going to be ok.
What if he brought the sign to a Hamilton😬 thats balls even i cant take im not a trump fan but ik Hamilton is something you dont touch or disrespect
Mr. Tabares, I know, but it should still be special each time...
perkymina, yeah, I think I've heard about that type of thing happening at Hamilton as well. Hamilton is a show all about politics, but even then, like you said don't touch or disrespect them by interrupting them with your own politics...
oh shoot my bad bro i was assumed i replied to Mr. T
Was the audience member even allowed to bring a Trump banner to a place like that? Why would someone allow something like that? It’s more sane to do it outside than inside.
Usually you can't bring anything like that inside... I don't know how he got it in.
Annika Dalley I wonder if he had that banner up ever since the start of the show. They would have told him to leave either before the show started or during the intermission.
I'm pretty sure he could've brought it, but in the same way how you can scream praise Satan in a Christian church and not face legal trouble.
Chris Collegia Yeah. Besides, it’s not that Trump is going to become the president soon. That happened more than a year ago. So I don’t get it. I’m glad the actor took it away from the audience member. People went to see the Frozen Broadway Musical, not someone holding a Trump banner! Paying over 100 dollars just to see 2 hours of someone holding a Trump flag is not worth it at all.
From what I can see he only raised it during the curtain call
Imagine If it was a Patti LuPone show. The guy would not only loose his banner, but his life.
Dude she would bake him into a pie
Oh dear lord. I can only imagine. She would probably go into the audience and beat him to death with her shoes.
C. Moore beat him to death with a character shoe
@@lukemckenzie0121 Then she'll proceed with a choreographed dance number over the corpse.
She would have ENDED HIM lmao serious LuPWNage would be happening 😂😂😂
I don't think this had anything to do with whether the actor supported Trump or not. Maybe slightly, but mostly because it was just extremely inappropriate for someone to be holding up a big sign upstaging the cast like the man was at a baseball game. I am 100% on the side of the cast member.
Yeah, I’m an actor and I would have taken that banner no matter what it said on it because it is extremely disrespectful to the both the actors on stage and the audience members to just block the stage like that, especially during curtain call.
Cynthia he is showing the entire audience he doesn't appreciate the hours put in by hundreds of people. Im ashamed these types of stories are only recently breaking out.
Not only was it during the bows of a Broadway show, it was a kids show. Why would they think that was appropriate to do when the moment is supposed to be about appreciating the actors who just put on an amazing show for them? What kind of message is it sending to the children who saw, that it’s okay to interrupt someone else’s moment to show off your political views?
Sam "Kids show"? I've heard/seen a couple of adult jokes in this musical.
and Peggy
There’s hidden adult jokes in most Disney movies to make it bearable for parents that have to take their children to see it. It’s very obviously marketed at kids.
@@evelyn2420 Really peggy? It's A disney Broadway show, disney is mostly marketed towards children. Yes there are some subtle subliminal adult jokes in there but that doesn't change the fact that it's a kids show. Make that make sense Peggy.
and Peggy you do realize there's adult jokes in disney movies because the parents would be watching as well
It's advertised as a show geared towards adults that will hopefully still appeal to children as well.
he said he owed him $5 for the banner but he probably went home and burned his nikes
Well he probably should have given him the banner back anyways. What he did was wrong, but taking someone's property isn't great.
@@imAwareOfYourAddress he probably did
Gordon Ramsay's chin It doesn’t matter, they’re allowed to confiscate items that are prohibited from being brought inside, same with food water drink, doesn’t matter if it was their’s or how much it cost. They broke the rules.
And the man broke the rules of the establishment, which the theater has the right to confiscate
@@imAwareOfYourAddress He didn't tear it. Just bundled it up and threw it to the side. If the guy asked for it back afterwards they probably would have given it to him.
The man proceeded to give the audience the middle finger. It’s a kid’s show, what on earth does he think he’s going to accomplish in interrupting the curtain call of FROZEN of all thingd
Like seriously did this man use his brain, well then again consider who he is holding the sign for and we get the answer… no
Bravo! a Broadway show is no place for Political opinions of any kind... that aren't plot related to wut ever is happening on stage. as a ticket buyer i don't wanna see a pro Rep or Pro Dem anything i wanna see FROZEN!
Lol tell that to the Hamilton cast *well the first sentence
Elphaboy Well said!
skrt skrt the fact is Hamilton is actually related to politics but really, FREAKING FROZEN??? 😂
Did he seriously think he was going to get away with it?? That's just hilarious that he thought it was the opportune time...
Just a peaceful reminder that the actor wouldn't have been able to know what was on the banner until people told him what was on it. From that angle and the reaction time I doubt there's anyway he would have known what it was. It just goes to show that if you start taking attention away from the cast when you shouldn't, then you deserve for your items to be taken away.
Claire Jacobs this comment needs more attention!! You brought up a great point!
It’s a double sided banner....
Queendom it’s mirrored and the man is also standing in front of it. I doubt the correlation was made in the time.
It’s also super bright on stage and hard to see so it’s unlikely he knew what the sign even said.
Stellar Steph absolutely spot on!! Those stage lights are bonkers!!
Is no one going to talk about how many people were recording bootlegs while this was doing on? Lmao
ebuscus567 lots of people do just record the curtain call.
Even then it's still recording the musical, which is technically against the law?
i actually think recording curtain calls is legal but im not 100% sure
Kakao Muffinová because curtain calls are still part of the performance, it is illegal to record them. You’re still recording the set, costumes which are all copyrighted.
Claire Jacobs You are most definitely allowed to record curtain calls. Why do you think so many broadway shows post their curtain calls when someone enters or leaves shows? Why do you think actors record and post them? Because it’s allowed and no one will get in trouble for it. The curtain call marks the end of the performance, the actors are coming out as themselves, not the characters. It’s literally just them bowing and acknowledging the orchestra and booth. Ushers will stop you during the show, but not during curtain call. Besides, whether it’s illegal or not, it won’t stop people from recording. How many bootlegs are there? Lots.
He snatched that banner faster than when shane dawson snatches my wig when he uploads
Jetrowdy you are amazing
You need a gold metal Hallulaigh
I'm weak 🤣
How do you feel about this comment 2 years later?
@@breadbox3935 I WAS JUST ABOUT TO COMMENT THAT JAHVWNAJSJD
It really doesn't matter to me if it was a Trump sign or anybody else's. What kind of person ruins the moment for any political action? I don't see why the actor would apologize, he wasn't overreacting - he reacted properly for the occasion and was right about it - i'm totally by his side, and i don't care whose sign was it.
Someone in a cult.
Man that guy with the sign really needed to *ahem* let it go...
Grabbing the banner away really has nothing to do with politics. This was simply a useless foxwatching nobody disrupting a show.
good for the actor. regardless of political views, it’s absolutely disrespectful to do something like that during a curtain call. that is the time for an actor to be recognized for their hard work, not the time for you to promote politics.
exactly!
He waisted 100+ dollars just to wave a $5 flag of trump, lmao that’s the definition of having no life
Am I the only one who finds it just a little ridiculous, he's complaining about being owed $5, when he's at a freaken broadway show!
It's so disrespectful to actors. Just reiterating what the guy posted: that's just flat out disrespectful. You are taking away their moment of triumph trying to express your political view. The theater should be a place to leave our problems, political or not, at the door. It WOULD be a tr*mp supporter! 😂
+Lucy Nan Why did you censor the name Trump?
It's a thing Ben Platt does on Twitter 😂😊
We do it with bad words, we should also do it with bad people.
Lorelei Teeter AMEN
i am too much of a fanatic ‘comment’ section
It doesn’t matter if you’re a part of the left or right. Don’t do this in any musical, it’s direspectful
APH Memerica how about during the national anthem
my first thought when seeing this was why in god’s name would someone choose to express their political views in a broadway show for children?
Why? Because they are in a cult.
Broadway actors have taken phones from audience members, have stopped the show when people were taking flash photography- this is nothing new and isn’t a political statement. You pay to have a theatrical experience brought to you by top notch performers, the least you can do is be respectful and applaud and acknowledge the talented folks on and off stage who work so hard to make it all happen. There’s a reason you don’t see people with signs during Broadway shows. This is not the time and place for signs of any kind. And at curtain call, no less! Downright disrespectful to the craft.
So did buddy boy here REALLY pay for those seats just to make people uncomfortable with his Trump merch?? That’s so idiotic I don’t even know what to-
Not in frozens swamp
The issue isn't that the theatre is no place for politics. Theatre has always been political, whether it imparts themes of racism (Show Boat, Ragtime, Hairspray), Censorship (Spring Awakening), or facsim (Cabaret, Evita). Broadway and theatre is an art form, and I can't imagine how horrible it would be without the freedom of speech.
What was wrong in this instance, was that this "protest" wasn't peaceful. It disturbed the peace. Let me explain usuing the "Kneeling during the anthem" argument many of you are usuing to call hypocrsy on this move. If I were to kneel during the anthem, who would be affected? You can argue it's disrespectful to the us military, and even to the singer, but who does it effect? Only you. Who does it affect when a man in the front row of a theatre holds a sign in front of the stage? The actors, the people behind him, and the general audience who are supposed to be sharing a moment of gratitude together. Mix that in with the fact that the anthem kneelers are breaking societal rules to bring attention to an injustice (police brutality), while this man is brekaing a societel rule to bring attention to a polical movement and thus not making a statement to bring any significant change, thus not protesting, and you get a whole mess of reasons why this specific instance of "protest" is a nightmare that needed to be stopped.
Okay I see. You can’t disturb the peace while protesting. Then all the people who blocked roads, destroyed buildings, lit their towns on fire are all wrong too correct?
Actually, it still wasn't political that he pulled the flag away, the guy was being SUPER disrespectful to those who poured their hearts and souls into the production of the play, I honestly don't care that he was a trump supporter, don't pull the attention away from the actors, they worked their asses off to entertain the audience
And people who kneel for the national anthem are SUPER disrespectful.
Its not about the effect most of the time it's about respecting those who worked to bring us something incredible.

Haha that guy was pissed
I'd have done the same thing! Good for that actor! The audience was there for a show...not to be reminded that we live in a country with a hate-filled President.
What was the point of even bringing it?
Indoctrinating children?
+Opal Wolf
It was his safety-blanket.
Unfortunately not to use it as toilet paper
Disgusting that the actor was expressing his views???!! It’s disgusting that the AUDIENCE MEMBER thought it would be acceptable to bring a political banner to a spectacular children’s show and wave it up the front! What kind of person does that???
That guy in the audience was a complete jerk , he had no right about having that flag out at curtain call at frozen, Great job Timothy Hugh’s I can’t wait to see you in frozen the musical when it comes
Good move. No matter what it said, no audience member should ever attempt to take away any attention from the show, the actors, any of it.
My opinion is that he was trying to steal the show. I think it was disrespectful to the audience and performers alike. I think there is a time and place for that kind of thing.
Even if he was a Trump supporter I'm sure he would have done the same thing. It doesn't matter the political views, that's super rude.
Politic Wig snapped
Even if it wasn’t a Trump flag, to do that during the curtain call of a show is HIGHLY DISREPECTFUL!!! How dare you take away from the cast and crews well earned moment of recognition with whatever political belief or any reason you have. Even if it was a sign to say “Save The Planet” there is a time and place for it. But NOT THERE!! As an actor myself I am disgusted.
I've been to Frozen on Broadway and I can tell they work so hard to make a great show you shouldn't ruin it even if it's at the end
I HATE THAT SOMEONE COULD BE SO RUDE AND STUPID AS TO WAVE A BANNER AT A CURTAIN CALL HE SHOULD BE BANNED FROM EVERY THEATER AND MOVIE THEATER AND ANY PREFORMANCE PLACE IN THE ENTIRE UNIVERSE!!! THANKS-GCZ
I'm pleasantly surprised that most of the comments are in favor of the actor.
Honestly, I don’t understand what was going through his mind, he just saw an awesome broadway musical but now is holding up a trump banner? Do that in your house, because literally *NOBODY* cares about who you voted for.
But the question is....
Why would you bring a Trump banner anyway?
Broadway is a place to get AWAY from all the political no sense going on. I'm glad he grabbed that flag away! Good for him, and good for Broadway!
Thats so disrespectful to the actors and everyone who works so hard to put on a show
This guy is a legend. As a fellow actor, this is just super rude to do. I was lucky enough to see this show in Denver and they deserve that curtain call.
True hero. Respect there show
He snatched that weave
The guy who did that is 6'7, (I know this because now he is in the musical Hadestown, and my sister is obsessed with it). If he had wanted to crush him he, totally could have, I also kinda wish he had.
As an former actor I would find this very insulting
*he had it coming*
*he only had himself to blame*
If you'd have been there, you'd have seen it, I betcha you would've done the same
The Queen Of Slytherin that’s my point...... i would do the same thing lol

GOOD FOR HUGHES! Political supporters should NOT be allowed to crash Broadway curtain calls. Utterly disgraceful.
Do your protests where they belong...NOWHERE.
Jeez, these Trump supporters are becoming more and more emboldened and disrespectful by the day. Sad.
i agree: "That women was exactly right!!!!! It was their moment!!!! Time and Place, and the Theater is not. Indeed!"
Well, I think it's safe to say that he *can't hold it back anymore* .
Good a Broadway musical is no place for politics unless the musical itself is about politics
Ppl getting mad at him and telling him to apologize for “being mean to an audience member” the AUDIENCE MEMBER should apologize
Lol he snatched that real quick. Good for him! Why would you even take a political banner to a show?
Thank goodness
🤣🤣🤣😂😂 this had me rolling!!
That is not right at all because it is a special moment for the cast and the audience. He ruined that moment and that was not the time or place.
I'm support the actor in this
I don't care who you vote for or whatever you can hold up your sign and do it somewhere else not in a Broadway show for kids (and adults.) But mostly kids. And very disrespectful to block a Curtin scene.
I also think this is dangerous because people still get mad over trump supporters and go to far with them. I'm trying to say a fight could happen in place for kids.
Timothy Hughes still owes the man 5 bucks.
So disrespectful to the cast, that guy was a jerk!
The guy with the banner was basically putting the banner up there just to annoy people he didn’t need to share political views during a show so the guy who took it was kind of in the right here.
Renna0804 why would he not be in the right?
Kool_Aid379 no I’m saying that the guy who took the flag was in the right,it’s a good thing he took it because the other man was completely wrong
I don't think anyone's on this guy's side lol
It doesnt matter what kind of political party sign you have, it really is not the time or the place for one during a curtain call.
Good for the guy who took the banner away! So disrespectful!!!
Politics and Broadway shows totally don't go together
It doesn’t matter who you support politically. That man was trying to detract from the curtain call and take all the attention with the flag. Not right, the actor did the right thing by taking it away.
GOOD ON HIM!he did the right thing ! (The actor ofc)
The most ambitious crossover in cinematic history
That is the actors time so the audience for thank them for their hard work
You know how expensive it is to see a broadway show? The people in the front next to the orchestra didn’t pay to see someone holding up a banner even if it was during bows. That’s not only disrespectful towards the actors and actresses, but towards the people paying money to see the show.
Ok but which character was he playing
Am Christine Grand Pabbie (the lead troll)
How did that guy even bring that flag into the theater so easily?!
I don’t care who you’re pulling for, that’s rude and disrespectful to the cast!!
I myself am a Trump supporter and I even believe this is overboard
Wow actual trump supporters believe this is overboard? I wonder what happened with trump supporters trying to boycott Broadway because Broadway is a place where you can leave your problems at the door and watch your dreams come true like Hamilton, Heathers, Be More Chill, Mean Girls, Dear Even Hansen, I could go on and on!
(Edit: this isn't sarcasm im just amazed.)
Uni Quartz your amazed that not every trump supporter is an uncultured swine?
Not everybody is. Now I will say I do know that some supporters are crazy I'm not denying that. My parents don't go out to rally's and cause trouble nor does the rest of my family. We keep our opinions to ourselves and go about our day.
Uni Quartz i didn't realize every trump supporter is the exact same in opinion and beliefs

Right.... I’m a conservative and I even think this is disrespectful.
The actor wouldn’t have even been able to see what was on the banner with how quickly he took it away.
I’d also like to remark on how people in the comments are talking as if this one person stands for alllll conservatives?
One guy doesn’t stand for half of the United State’s population. He’s actually being frowned upon by all the conservatives in this comment section alone.
What a beautiful person
as he should, why would do that at a broadway show?
Lol 😃😂😀
It's not appropriate to advertise something, when the cast is bowing. It's crude. It wouldn't matter if it was a Hillary Clinton flag, a black likes matter flag, anything. It's not appropriate.
In the words of Patti LuPone… Who do you think you ARE!!!!

Why did he even bring it

Funniest thing to me is if the banner had been for a Democrat the heat would be on the actor.
But yeah. Totally inappropriate place to wave your political banner (of any kind). That’s the time to acknowledge the people behind the show. But, he also should have known he’s not gonna convince NYC to vote for trump...
If it was Democratic poster, he still wouldn’t have gotten any heat. No matter the politician, it would still have just been plain rude.
