    Got a mustang like this, (competition colors from 2003) and my GOD it is BEAUTIFUL.
    It's actually crazy how good it feels to play.

      I am a late convert to the joys of short scale guitars - love them now!

    Sounds great! I have an identical Mustang, but it's an original '64 USA, first year of production. Same color, 100% stock, 24" scale, but mine's got pretty relic'd over the years. I'm its second owner, I got it in '77 or thereabouts.I've owned literally hundreds of guitars since, but that one has stayed with me. I've modded many guitars too, but I've never had the urge on this one, I love everything about it. Especially that trem, I wonder why they didn't use that style trem on other models?

      Man, an original ‘64 Mustang?! Sweet! I’m really liking this guitar - I’m pretty much a Les Paul player, but this has definitely opened my eyes to how comfortable the shorter scale is to play. Trem is great, stays in tune, crazy that it doesn’t seem to be used in other guitars.

    They are awesome guitars Dunsy. String bends are a breeze.
    I'd grab a cheap bullet mustang to scratch the humbucker itch as it's already loaded with them and leave that one as is.

      @DunsysGuitarWorld  Рік тому

      Super easy to play and string bends are a breeze. I don’t usually like a 7.25” radius, but I didn’t have any issues with this guitar.

    Love Mustangs, Even built my own but to Cobain specs sort of, I used a staytrem bridge as I found the Tune o Matic bridge took away from the sound.....One thing I did find though was ......if your having problems with a dangly Trem arm, I found these Grub/Set screws you can buy and they come with like a rubbery plastic on the end, and it grips onto the arm really well and holds your trem arm in place.
    This was a common problem that I spent hours researching ways others got the trem arm to stay in position...I came across these grub screws by chance though and they work a dream

    Seymour Duncan Hotrrail mate. You’ll be rockin, but you may learn to embrace the natural sound of the mustang pups. Remember mate AC/DC do not use distortion. I’m learning that all the twang and clean overdriven guitars are where great songs come from not distortion.

    • @daskrunkly3213
      @daskrunkly3213 Рік тому +2

      a jb jr is a perfect balance between the two. either that or a quarter pound. hot rail is way too dark and extreme. Pretty much only good for distortion.

      @DunsysGuitarWorld  Рік тому +1

      Think I might try a Little ‘59 and see how that sounds. I’ve got a Hotrail in a Tele, which sounds great on that guitar, but fancy something different for this one. Might even leave it stock.

    Have you scratched the GAS itch....."I have for this week!" Excellent, that sort of sums it up.
    Always quite liked the look of the Mustangs and Jaguars, but always felt the pickups with be a bit thin, but that sounds surprisingly good.

      @DunsysGuitarWorld  Рік тому

      Maybe up to a month though! 😂. Yeah, I was 100% the same when I found out I was going to be using one the other week, but I was well surprised that it sounded brilliant with overdrive. Dead easy guitar to play too with the shorter scale length.

    I have the MG69 from the next year or so and it sounds -exactly- like this. I LOVE the weak plinkiness and sharp attack of these pickups. I say keep them in! BUT I learned to play on my mustang to the point where when I first played a guitar with humbuckers I thought there was something wrong with my amp.

    Dunsy, you have a knack of making any guitar that you get your hands on sound good.
    I get the temptation to put a humbucker in it, and obviously, you want to personalize it, but my vote is to keep single coils in it. Maybe put a Jaguar pickup in the bridge (my Jaguar's bridge measures around 12k). Something more powerful, that also retains the character those guitars are known for. My two cents. It's a beauty and I'm happy for ya, brother! Rock on!

    • @DunsysGuitarWorld
      @DunsysGuitarWorld  Рік тому +1

      Yeah, the jury is out at the moment - I’m gonna see how it sounds at rehearsal first, then decide what to do about the bridge pickup. Sounds damn nice through the Kemper though, it has to be said.

    I like the pick ups that are in it. They have a very P 90 sound in the middle position. Like you though I do not like that out of phase sound at all. Well it sounded good Clean but if you add any dirt to that, I think it just sounds like hot garbage, anyway, I would definitely keep it stock because it does a lot of things that P90 will do
