I learned 2 words, ぼーっとする and 自然に囲まれたところ (but I wouldn't really count it as new because it's quite easy to get the meaning by looking at the components, It's literally "a place surrounded by nature")
How often do you speak? How often do use actively use the words you’ve learned in real life situations? Language is something you live , it’s the only way for your brain to connect the dots
Search Language Lords on youtube you'll find the missing piece you've been needing to get to a great speaking level. Right now you have a huge collection of passive vocabulary but a very small selection of active vocabulary, the tips given by the channel I recommended will help you overcome this situation. I really like the fact that difficult words are directly translated on screen so I don’t have to waste time pausing the video and searching for the meaning.
This is great listening and reading practice. Not having English subtitles really pushes you to focus on the Japanese. I am like N3 or lower and I felt I could kinda keep up if I used subs. For research purposes I wanna know whats your level to see whether I lack severely in listening practice since you say it was easy
@@KateikyoshiDX I can't say what my level is with any certainty, but I'd guess we are on a similar level. If it wasn't for the subs in this video I would have had a pretty hard time following the dialog just by listening alone. I would have had to stop and replay parts over and over and then guess which word they said while trying to look it up (due to the many homonyms in Japanese). Sometimes I pick up on things easily and sometimes it feels like I don't understand anything (and never will get it). It can be a bit discouraging, but learning Japanese is a marathon not a sprint. I think the key is just to keep going and find material that is pretty close to your level (both reading and listening). Little by little it slowly sinks in. 頑張ります
@@tcsocal5554 Yep, thats an excruciating marathon. Homonyms are so easy to deal with when you have kanji, but they turn audio into hell if you don't have a contextual understanding to pick the right one. Regarding the right material level I've done some audio experiments like passively listening to hiikibiiki podcasts (188 files out of 297) and others. I can say that for me that didn't really help at all. Looks like going for somewhat easy convos + reading subs while listening actively is the key (at least for me). Good luck for you too.

Yes!! I follow Sayuri as well and I love her videos! These collaboration videos that Miku Sensei does of conversations with others have become my favorite (I mean all of them are great!). Her highlighting phrases/words that we might not know are super helpful because sometimes I'll KNOW the vocabulary but then hearing it is another thing altogether, so it's like oh!! I recognize that word! Anyway another great video, thank you!!!

What this video showed me was I do so much better reading than listening. For me I’m too busy trying to translate when I should just be listening and let it be naturally clear. It’s almost like an instinct. Thank you so much this is really great and it’s greatly appreciated for all the work you pull into
Japanese has always been a language easy for me to hear and understand because they’re not fast speakers like the French or some countries and they take pauses between speech ( from the ones I’ve listened to), so it’s enough time to comprend what’s been said if you remember the verb forms. That’s just something I’ve observed.
It depends on the person who speaks.. there are japanese who talk at lightning speed in japanese and do not take many pauses. Just watch some vtubers here on youtube.
2:52 - This is pretty interesting. Normally, the textbook form would be like: 今じゃなくて理想です。But here it is 理想ですよ。今じゃなくてね。But, the meaning is still intuitive.
LIstening to conversations like this is great (I really like these listening videos even though I'm past the target audience level) but the MOST effective way to improve, after you have N2 or N3 grammar and some decent vocabulary, is to have lots and lots of conversations.
Japanese people all love their baths. I lived in a dorm in Tokyo and there was one bathtub for all the guys and several shower stalls. People would often ask me to let them use the bath and I was always like you can't PAY me to use the bath. I'm not a cat person but I hate taking baths the same way cats do. I just feel terrible sitting in a bunch of hot water for a long time. Give me a quick shower any day.

@@jdb5961 Yes, beginner to advanced beginner. Some phrases were very simple beginner others more advanced but nothing outside of the beginner textbook spectrum. Basic “how do you spend your day” stuff.
I understoon the first minute easily, then I got distracted when I started thinking "wow, my japanese is so good now, ..." and suddenly I realized the conversation was over.
This is an excellent idea. Good work, but the thing is, usually with these kinds of things it's usually japanese women that are uploading things like this. Most men learning japanese end up sounding like women...in a language like japanese, men adn women have distinct ways of speaking and the words that they use also differ. So, could you get 2 men on the podcast to have a conversation but not just a casual chat, but something more like a discussion of disagreement? that would HELP A TON.

What does the 'tte iu' mean in "10ji gurai ni neru tte iu"? I know it is often used to quote the previous words in sentence, but it seems here it might be a different grammar concept...

Yeah, that's true.
But the complexity of kanji is another hurdle , that's why sometimes latin languages are less of a pain to learn.
