Great content! Today is my third day snowboarding ever, I had never done any extreme sports or really sports in general… I am 32, a bit overweight and not very athletic but I have spurts here and there. I advanced so much today, and I had a blast… I actually did all of those things that you said even though I just watch the video now. I’ve definitely gotten a lot of good info from your other videos that have helped me learn carving. I’m not super great yet, but I was able to pick up speed today and I was doing that exercise naturally of picking up a ton of speed while controlling by carving and then stopping as fast as possible to get confidence in my control
Another great vid Tommie! Maybe you could do a video of handling narrow cat tracks? I was at Jackson Hole with friends and one of my friends told me that one of the tracks was super narrow, like maybe 3 boards width, and I didn't even dare try it. I find it hard to maintain an edge on tracks, but if I ride flat my board starts to slide out, and then other skiiers, boarders are bombing past me so I get super nervous.
One tip I use my self is to look further down the run. Dont look down too close to your feet. You'll freak your self out. Its kinda of like when you learn to drive a car. The faster you're going to further ahead you should look.
When I go over 40mph I like the squat down low, using my legs like pistons over 50mph there is no braking just ride that out and get on my toe edge before that point
Leg strength. Keeping legs bent all day takes a lot of strength and energy. I would say if your planning 10 days in the snow spend a few weeks prior doing squats etc. I guess if i was riding a 100 plus days a season i wouldnt need this advice though.
How about fast ridding when slope isn't in perfect condition ? I mean afternoon, when on slope are muggles and other weird bumpy stuff.? When you have to expect unexpected.
Great advice. I was having trouble with heel side chatter but lowering my center of gravity by bending my knees and keeping my board at the proper angle helped a ton 🤙🏼
Your videos could make my life a hella lot easier 8 years back when I put a snowboard on my feet for the first time and had to learn all by myself, experimenting every possible move, falling over and over until my butt and my head felt like they're not mine anymore
I love this guy! I went snowbording for my first time two days ago and i will admit i did pretty good but im terrefied to go back more then i was to go in the first place. With that being said it really was the time of my life. After watching this i know i have to go back 😭 lol. Still scared but i want to be that good
Lol!! That's so funny but it's true. After my first time, my tail bone and fore arms were sooo sore I was afraid to go again bc I didn't wanna hurt that badly
cool vid! would be great to see one on going fast and controlled through skied out cruddy chunder fields. i see some folks glide through very choppy terrain quickly with ease using open turns, but i seem to catch all the bumps and have to use very closer turns to remain in control without washing out
Being in control means that you can stop OR SLOW DOWN. You can't stop when you're going 40-50 mph down the hill, but you can slow down. This tip is for advanced riders only who are chasing terminal velocity. Always know the run and the conditions, though!
Thank you Jesus this is so helpful specially when tahoe in California is dry as hell and there’s nothing but slush and 🧊 Ice. Shit hurts when you lean back to far.
Riding on a flat rocker board, so I have to stay on either edge or I'll just spin and catch the edge. Fell a couple times today when the wifey stopped and I turned my head to look for her, forgot to stay on one edge and swoosh. Been watching these tip videos for a week or so and I'm pretty sure that's why I learned how to snowboard in 2 sessions. (At least I got the basics down.)
Def should have way more than 11K, but I see you climbing out here pimp. Keep it up! I watched a lot of tutorial vids and you break this shit down to the simplest form better than most out there.
Glad I found the channel! Now I have to work on this stopping you talk about because now I just take a tumble at the end of every run and I can tell I'm going to hurt myself like that.
Was in Copper last week and reached 30 mph at most. I was afraid because the board started skipping when I tried to slow down. Now I know why, but I have to wait a whole year to try this since I live in Puerto Rico 😁.
Lol last trip I was bombing a hill without my glasses because they where fogging, so I could only really see terrain close up it was like the mountain crinkled as it came towards me. Anyway of course as I’m going 50-60 ish a big ridge (probably a foot and a half high) ran the whole Side of the slope I was on, would be no problem at low speed but I had to just brace for impact lol, hit it and landed, but bounced again from the momentum and crashed, rolled down that whole damn hill lol (mostly slid).
Thank you so much I've looked through so many videos and could find any helpful videos to help be better understand how not to slip out when trying to slow down and then I found your video👍
Easy, point her straight downhill and hold an edge longer than you ever have. Wooo send it! Also courage helps a lot. I only got up to 72 tho, still just shy of the 75+ club.
Damn that’s crazy fast. I live in big bear and they have an app. I only got 47. I asked if that’s accurate and they said no, add 10 or so to compensate for the downhill.
Hey tommie, when you were doing the toeside stops you were counter rotating and opening your shoulder to just have one hand on the ground is that just to be able to see down the fall line
That my was thought... all that nice looking snow. Tahoe doesn't get the ice coast snow, but we get freeze/thaw cycles to get "Sierra Cement". My friends go faster, but I can go 50-60 when it's packed pow. like snow that I trust to move and hold edge on. Ice and steep just lead to that unnerving scraping noise, too.
Tommie, I got a bit of a problem flatriding before im gonna ollie down a hill or in general prepare for a jump, in the end you kinda have to straighten out the board (Got a Libtech hybridrocker 163W), It feels like you have no control and the rear slips easily out. Ate the snow just a few days ago because of front-edgecatch, so you got any tips for bodyposition etc? Would love to increase my speed for medium jumps to clear the knuckle, without feeling like im gonna faceplant before going over the jump (edge to edge for me is going well), cheers
Xavier Delerue speaks about disconnect the lower body and the upper body so that you upper body face down the slope while lower body stays perpendiculaire. I'm getting confused. Help ? :P
Phenomenal content! I had taken a break from youtube, but am so glad to be back here because I’m just binge watching your content. I’m curious as to what kind of boards do you recommend for people that want to do mini jumps for someone who is 6,2 and 210lbs. The board I have now is 158 but is super heavy and doesn’t have a lot of flex. Is there something you’d recommend for me to look out for in the next big purchase?
I couldn't match your goggles with the one in the link you provided (i.e. Anon m3). Could you provide the exact model and specifications of your goggles ? thanks a lot
UA-cam finally showing me these underrated channels that need more eyes!!
I just found him a couple days ago too lol
Maybe Utube finally are showing you underrated riders how to survive in on a Skihill.
TB is a G, in video and in person confirmed
Most underrated boarding channel 🤙🏽

I also started snowboarding at 32 last season. How have you progressed in the 2 years since this comment? Cheers!
i cant ignore that video bomber at 4:56
Amrit Trivedi Jonathan did a very smooth “gtfo” transition though 😂
7:40 missed a cut there tommy haha
stylistic choice if anyone asks LOL
I thought it was intentional lol
LOL I love how the camera slowly panned to cut that old man out @ 5:00 Great lesson Tommie!
Talent at explaining. What a natural instructor. Great enthusiasm 👍😊
Facts. Wholeness
9:07 was hella smooth, hope I can dismount that elegantly one day
When snow is melting next week and you binge watch all Tommie videos in deep sorrow.

Love Copper. That SKY written in the mountain always makes me smile.

Attempted time trials the last weekend out...13th time at the slopes this season...nearly needed a wheelchair after a few hours
This changed my riding, great exploration of how to do this! 💪🏻🙏🏼💪🏻
Tommie, I Love u! I was looking for those tips for long and just had lost my hope and now you dropped it! I appreciate it so much!
Love from Russia)

This collab with Buckhouse we so underrated 3 years ago! Watching this in Jan 2024! 💪🏽
Solid guidance. Thank for publishing. Validated what I'm already doing.
Hit 55 mph today at Bromley mountain VT. Trying to kill 60 this season. My average is 40. Quick carves is the best best to stay in control.
Thank you mark for the tips, very good!

Do a vid on how to stomp front 360s Everytime, i end up washing out Everytime, if u want a video lemme know
He would have to be able to front 3 everytime to make a video like that lol
Great tip about the weights behind your back. I will keep that in my mind all the time now
Thank you Jesus this is so helpful specially when tahoe in California is dry as hell and there’s nothing but slush and 🧊 Ice. Shit hurts when you lean back to far.
Thanks for Keeping It Awesome! 🤘
Finalmente un’ottima guida che ti spiega nella pratica come fare grandeeeeeee
Gonna go snowboarding for the first time. Your videos are helpful

Love how Buckhouse tried to move that random skier video bomber outta frame. Great vids as usual!
yeah my first reaction was that it was a bit rude of the skier, but then he probably didn't realize he was in frame and was just curious.
Thanks Tommie for your awesome videos! I picked up a few good tips and tricks and it helped me a lot this past week here in France!
Glad I found the channel! Now I have to work on this stopping you talk about because now I just take a tumble at the end of every run and I can tell I'm going to hurt myself like that.
Go fast? Im trying to slow down lol
Was in Copper last week and reached 30 mph at most. I was afraid because the board started skipping when I tried to slow down. Now I know why, but I have to wait a whole year to try this since I live in Puerto Rico 😁.
Great content! Thank you,Tommie!
You do a great job with explanation and coaching. Great instruction. Thanks 👍
I've been watching your vids help sooo much!!! I'm so excited to apply these tips when I get on the snow in a couple days ! THANKS :D

Best content I’ve seen so far. Thanks man
I love how you can see his friends through his ski glasses chilling while he's talking

lets race dude!
Shoutout to you and your cameraman who can stay with you
On bumpy terrain you also need to keep your belly a bit lower and use your knees.
Video quality lvl 100. I was moving with the camera lol. Sorry I looked for a min but didn't catch mountain name. Location? Thx!
Great video! Those brown mitts though, i was waiting for you to take the casserole out of the oven lol
Respect! Thanks man keep up the good work👍

So good! Thank you for this video.
This DC's coat is awesome!
Damn, nice Vid. I am hyped for the Session.
Thank you so much I've looked through so many videos and could find any helpful videos to help be better understand how not to slip out when trying to slow down and then I found your video👍
do you have a video on euro carving?
Thanks for the tips!
Are the principles always the same despite conditions? Say not much snow and really icy

Falling at 75 would suuuuuuuck..
One day in rusutsu, there was this super steep hill, very empty though so I charged it.... About 83kph 👀
I use sportler an Android app, but I'm sure there are many others out there
@@tommiebennett I use a GPS ap. There are 100 of them. Some free and some are a few $.
Thanks for this video! Which board did you ride in this video? Greetz👊🏻
Where is this ski resort? It’s beautiful!
Just subscribed thanks for all the good info!
Very good video. Put together well. Thanks 🤙🏼
Tommie great vid! Love the improvements I make after your awesome tips! Keep 'em coming! You and Buckhouse = DREAM TEAM!
Props to Buckhouse for keeping up and filming
I'm a beginner and your videos have been super helpful! Thank you!
I'm just wondering what state you're in?
I think I saw you on Gunbarrel
Dudes gonna have at least 500k subs in the next 2-3 years. Probably way more
Hey tommie, when you were doing the toeside stops you were counter rotating and opening your shoulder to just have one hand on the ground is that just to be able to see down the fall line
What size board do you ride and how tall are you?
So sick thank you!
Does your snowboard course cover up unweighted turns, down unweighted turns, and retraction turns?
What place is he snowboarding at?? Looks sick
Skiers got curious 🤣 5:00

5:28 make sure you clean the snow out of your board before initiating the descent.
He cleaned it with style shortly after starting :D

I have the problem that when i go down in a straigt line that i lose control over my snowboard and because its shake's. any tips ???
What angle you have your bindings? My speed sucks when going down hill. Need to improve
Amazing information thanks dude
Thanks for the tips and cool video!👍
Hey where is this located? Great lesson by the way
9:08 ok that was nifty
If you wanna see a dude doing it at Mach 2 check out Ryan Knapton, but its a dope trick for sure!
@@BubbaFig Ryan is crazy with it. I like that he did his own taped and reinforced arm sleeve to do his tricks
