- I visited The Iconic Bellini bar (Harry’s Venice)
Many famous people including Alfred Hitchcock, Ernest Hemingway Charlie Chaplin, Woody Allen, Orson Welles George Clooney, and many others visited Harry’s bar
Harry's bar was declared a national landmark in 2001 by the Italian Ministry for Cultural Affairs.
It offers some of the most typical Italian dishes, made according to the original recipes. But I tried a Bellini that cost 26 Euro

I wanted to go to Harry’s Bar, but someone recommended Il Mercante to me, so i had a drink there. Half the price and absolutely amazing cocktails.

I’m from Venice, if you know it properly, the best bars are the smaller ones, where Spritz costs 2€ / 3€ . Here we don’t drink cocktails, we drink wine and spritz, especially the original recipe with Select. The expensive places are just for tourist. The best way to know Venice is to get lost and visit the smallest bars.
If you want to drink amazing cocktails the absolute best ones are Il Mercante and Remer. I know their bartenders personally, they are friend of mine, they use only DIY liqueurs and fresh ingredients, only original recipes, every cocktail is like a mind trip... for half the price.
Harry’s bar is a place you go to EAT, dinner or lunch whatever, especially fish.
But again... the best way to enjoy Venice is to drink 3€ spritz or 1€ wine at the little bars, eat bread, cheese, salame and polenta.
Come to Venice again and I’d be ready to show you how we do it! Cheers mate you’re the best!

Well, this is one of those comments that everyone will agree that is very helpful. I wish me and my wife could have you as a special guest and as a guide to get to really know Venice the way it is supposed to be known.

Place for people who like history and F&B people. It is yes expensive, but we loved it to see and to try

lol i work at a cipriani and the bellini is made from frozen packaged peach puree.
Not adding it to my bucket list because I will most likely not able to afford it..getting to Venice.. but surely it is an impressive place.

You are basically paying location/history. I was there 20 years ago and a coke at piazza San Marco was 10 euros.
Go around the corner and you pay 2 euros for a coke. Or a mix drink at a different bar for less then 10 euros.
Basically get a meal/drink where the locals hang out.

It is just insane that they charge so much for an Aperol spritz or Bellini... as much as they made one of the most iconic classic cocktails in the World, I think that this place became just like a trap for tourists.
Beacuse cities as Venice, Florence, Rome, Milan have each year millions of tourists, many places dont care much about the client so they give them a product that is made poorly and ask for some shit a lot of money. An adivce to recognize these places is to check if there are any italian eating there, if you dont hear italian noises, you probably wont go there. If you want to see the real Italy go to less known places or travel with an Italian.
