Balh _ you can get that edge too. Glue a piece of leather to a board and coat the leather with red rouge buffing compound (0.49 micron grit, or 60,000 grit.) And strop the blade's edge backwards at the right angle. After a while it'll look like that.
I have carried my 0452 quite consistently for the past three months, and I can say that you definately can get used to opening it under stress. I have fairly large hands so I taught myself to open it using a lightswitch action with my fingers all the way behind the lock relief, and it flies out every time. No, I haven't used it in any "tactical" roles, but I find that even when I am distracted in some other task and need to quickly deploy it without really being conscious of my hand position it still deploys every time. I can second that everything else about the knife is awesome, the clip works just fine, and in an area like where I am with a low population of sheelpe it makes a damn fine large EDC.
Thanks for the review. Just bought one today and was having a hard time opening the knife. My finger was so sore I couldn,t flip it anymore. After watching your video and how to hold and open the knife my finger thanks you lol. Great channel.
My favorite knife in my collection. This things actions is amazing. I have no idea why this knife isn't more popular than it is. It should be huge right now!
Put your middle finger tip in the lockbar relief notch. Place your ring and little fingers under edge of the pocket clip and use the clip to bull the butt of the handle into the heel of you hand. Depending on hand size it's very secure and keeps you way from the forward end of the lockbar. Good review.
I'm right handed and I can open my 0562 with my left hand easier than the right, but after flipping it a couple weeks it's not as touchy about having a little pressure on the lock bar right handed. and this0452 will be my next purchase. thanks for the review...
I had the CF one years ago and sold it and always missed it just got a deal on the M390 version. I like the black G10 and pivot better. Its good to have one again
Nice review. I could purchase a few months ago 2 in one deal i could not resist. One of them had a very very very hard detent. The other had a medium - hard detent. But the first one was not a pleasure to flip. Luckily i could sell this one to a friend who liked this. But overall, i think is a very usefull knife and very light for the length. And very well executed. Like it a lot.
Picked mine up today from BladeHQ. They said that it was the last one from their most recent shipment. I can hold the lock bar tightly while flipping and it doesn't have too strong of a detent. They might have loosened the detent just a bit. Mine flips like a dream, YMMV.
Dang. I guess my wife will divorce me now. I have been looking for a knife with this type of blade from a quality manufacturer for years. When I beheld it, it captured my soul! So I ordered it. Any storm I have weather will be worth this beauty.
I absolutely love my 0452... I dislike the pocket clip because it chips. I hate my 0450... I have tried sharpening it with DMT diamond stones, Whetstones, and my Edge Pro Apex... I swear it seems like there's a recurve towards the back of the blade.
Good video I had one of these (review on my channel) but didn't carry it enough I loved it for my collection but just didn't find it that practical very awesome blade though.
I'm a righty and love this blade. Very comfortable in the pocket because it's so thin and light. I've completely gotten use to the frame lock. Initially i'd apply pressure and couldn't overcome the detent, but now I grab it differently to my palm and there's no issue deploying. PS, I've gotten a Mercworx Double edge Proeliator and wonder if you've ever worked your magic on one of those?
Do you take international commissions? I ordered a 0562cf, here in France. The box arrived today - with "0562 Hinderer slicer grind" written on the label. I opened the box and a 0452cf knife dropped out! I'm not too disappointed as this knife is a winner. Like you I see the one design flaw being the "half choil" which puts the heel of the cutting edge behind the front of the scales, yet still invites the forefinger to choke up too close to the edge. Your edges are phenomenal and your expansion of the forward choil has perfected this design IMO.
16 degree secondary edge...and 19 degree microbevel What's the difference between the secondary edge and the microbevel? Sorry, I don't know much about sharpening. Other than that looks like a wicked sharp edge.
Enjoyed the video i was thinking you had sharpened the blade when you got the cut. That was a bad cut probably was more jagged but now cleaner and most likely deeper. Keep the videos coming and we still pray for your new work for our Lord and may the blessings of the Lord be upon you all.
can you get around the sharpening angle problem around the choil by only drawing the blade across the top of a sharpening rod, so there is no risk of contact with the handle?
There are several ways to "work around" this design flaw, but keep in mind, because of the increasing thickness at the base of the edge due to the long lazy plunge grind, you also have to progressively increase your sharpening angle as you approach the base of the edge, or your bevel will triple in width. It is possible with a variety of freehand methods, but still a horrible design.
If I'm faced with a threat, the detent on my pocket knife will hopefully never come into play. I'm reaching for my Glock long before I go for my knife haha
If someone carries a larger EDC, this blade is perfect. I personally like a large EDC knife, it's just nice to have it fit into a self defense and everyday carry purpose. And yeah, I should carry something else for self defense, I just don't have the money to go out and buy a nice handgun.
I really dislike the 0452CF!! The videos failed to address the poor design of the knife!! Way too light for my liking and rather difficult to open!! Not worth the money!! I picked up an Olamic Wayfarer 247 a couple months ago, which is hands down better then the ZT!! The 247 springs open and begs to be used as opposed to ZT which demands to be closed and asks you to turn out the lights!!!
Clearly the 0452 doesn’t satisfy YOUR criteria in a pocket knife and is completely understandable as we all have our personal preferences but to compare a MASSproduction built U.S. manufactured pocket knife to MID-TECHish Olamic wayfarer 247 is a little much. I mean you’re referring to a minimum $575 Wayfarer to a $275 0452 ZT, let’s keep it real.
The only channel where my knife envy is overtaken by edge envy, beautiful work.

The results would vary based on the edge he has before, a 100 grit factory edge will not take a polish like that.

The mirror polish on that edge is amazing.
Just got mine in and I want to say woooow I absolutely love this bad boy,and it flips like champ.
Incredible blade, had mine a couple of months now and there is no sign of the honeymoon ending... Great video Rob.

One of the most beautiful knives I have ever seen
The best review of this knife regarding it's idiosyncrasies and capabilities! Thank you
I'm finally pulling the trigger on this one . I can't wait.

Thank you JPK!!! That did the trick!
love this knife and actually like the tiny pocket clip. It makes it look like a small knife in pocket.

Bought the GL limited all black serie just over a year ago and God I love this knife too. Great review, thanks.

Beautiful edge work!
Beautiful knife and sharpening job :-)
Aside from the pocket clip screws, by opening up the choil you have perfected this model.

I love the ZTo45X series , that said accessing the lock bar to close is difficult.
Gorgeous!

Lmao! The knife is worth the divorce 👌🏻

love mine
Still holding back on pulling the trigger on this one...:-)
when I do, I want it with all the trimmings just like this baby!
Cheers

... and the Blazin'Blades engraving of course :-)
I have one and love it, I bought full blue anodized Ti hardware for it, really brought it to life.

Hi,...may I ask...ZT 0452CF or ZT 0562CF or ZT 0630...which one is better overall? Thanks!
How do you do the choil mod? Specifically, what bit do you use for the dremel? Thanks.
Had no problem sharpening this knife on my kme.

Kyle Stewart until you run out of ammo 😆
Spray and pray baby!!!
Am I seeing the sharpening choil modded to a finger choil here?
kirk nyman You net. That’s exactly what you’re seeing.
Nice, I want to get that done to my 0452cf also.

Ian S. If you can save enough for a $200+ knife you can save a little extra and buy a couple generation old glock.
'Sheeple friendly' = Cold Steel
Sheeple friendly version is the 0450 lol
I have Cold Steel Espada XL and whenever I deploy it sheeple stare like 🦌 into headlights
What is your ballpark price to sharpen a new ZT Knife ?
He charges somewhere around $20-25 for knife, plus return-shipping. Well worth it for the time he puts in.
Beautiful knife. What is the cost on it?
220
That Edge looks waaay to narrow to be 16 degrees

Well designed.
The Wayfarer 247 is 3 times the money also. Should be better at a mid-tech level.
@@cbaugh2146 Only $40 diff! Money well spent!

Wickedly boring
