How we grow apples & are creating generational wealth through fruit farming

- Hey! It's still Friday, we hadn't forgotten!! Mine will be a short message today...#Scam! It has been 31 weeks of sharing a farmer/agripreneur story since patient 001 of Covid in Kenya was identified and a lockdown quickly followed, & through those weeks, we have, without fail, shared an agripreneur story every week!! Our subscriber base grew from 200 to now over 21,000 subscribers! We never saw that coming, but your requests for stories and these numbers have egged us on to travel far, in search of these stories, and we are grateful for your unwavering endorsement that agri stories need to be shared. The pandemic finally pedestaled the farmer as a frontline worker and essential service provider, and as one Dr. Adesina says, with all the minerals we may have, no one eats them, but every day, we need a farmer!
The festive season is here!! btw, if Santa had a wife, would her name be sleigh queen? Ok, that's a sign that we need a break too...we are sharing our last story this year, because we know you will not check out YouTUbe as you tear those ribs apart1 but we'll definitely continue in the next year, with even more stories and features lined up!! a break is well deserved right?.. #TuSiWaSuffocate!
Have you thought of creating generational wealth? well, this is not a scam or pyramid/ multilevel marketing story, but one of a father who has an apple named after him! Ok, if that doesn't excite you, what are you named after, that we must know? Yikes! his story is told by his daughter Catherine, who with her siblings have now taken up the farm, scaled up, and now exporting the famous Wambugu Apple to the world. the most unique characteristic of this apple is that it fruits all year round!!
Ho ho ho.. Happy holidays, stay safe, sanitize, share with the less fortunate, and remember to subscribe to the channel too.. We hit 100K by Dec 2021.. Let's do this!

Very informative and charismatic personality. The future of Africa, I wish you continued success.
thank you
Africa has the ability to be the bread basket of the world. There's a huge market for organic fruits and vegetables in the world and Africa stands a better chance.
I m so proud of you guys ! Africa will rise again before the soon return of Christ !
Come on Einstein darling !
Our Africa never fell !
She's only in need of her childrens LOVE & CARE !!!

Fanatics....
It's the religion that has made us remain poor
You are doing wonderful. God is blessing you!! The only thing I want to advise is mulching. Mulching keeps your trees from losing moisture. You can use a lot of things to mulch. Coffee Beans shells, leaves, wood chips, cardboard. Also read up on "air layering" to get more trees from mature tree branches. Doing great Good luck!!!
Congratulations Kate! Very inspiring indeed. Thank you for coming and planting the apples in our farm. They doing well. I can't wait for the fruit. It was a blessing to have your dad over!
Our lovely Easter African sister greetings from Rwanda . This is so inspiring and I will get in contact with u for more knowledge
Keep the ball rolling
This is really awesome, work well done. Keep it up dear, proud to see a lady doing this.🇰🇪🇰🇪♥️♥️
Am humbled
I don't know why, I like this lady.... She is so natural and interesting.... Good presentation though... Unfortunately we are so many miles apart. I would have love to meet her someday
Awesome video... if you guys are growing a lot and trying to make sure that the local market is not saturated with the product it would be wise to also create something from the product that can be shipped to all the other neighboring African countries as well as neighboring areas in your own country. You guys could grow much more and make your own brand of apple juice, apple sauce and apple cider vinegar, apple doughnuts etc... you name it... apple chips even. You can grow the product brand and let everyone know it grown in the country and processed there as well. Good luck with growing your business. As huge as your continent is, the international market with high shipping cost and etc... do not have to be your target market.
thank you
Really beautiful fruit, I've never seen apples that shape before. Beautiful clean orchard as well, thanks for all the tips.
One Apple a Day takes a doctor away.. I have been organic farmer for years. And I have done apple production, too. Your teaching is practical. I will visit you one day.
Hey brother am from zambia I need more information about apple 🍏🍎🍏 farming thanks
I’ve always said agriculture is the key thing and can change the economy of this country. Hope we all follow your families footsteps. Good job my sisters and brothers. One (gala) apple in the USA is about, $1.67lb and some are $2.50lb
And all fruits and veg are gmo.so what are we really eating and drinking.
@@niaralewis1066 not really . Example the most popular apples like Honeycrisp, Red and Golden Delicious, Gala and Fuji are non GMO apples. All old varieties of fruits and vegetables are nonGMOs.
I love your passion for the farming, good explanation. wambugu apple
I really love this type of Apple, it bears all year round...
Like the way you explain to us, that it can or should be "a generational business" .... Yes, organic is the way to go...
I would really like few of them in my backyard in Jamaica...
Yuh dunn know !
👊🏾❤💚💛👊🏾
Dont do that !! You will not get apples in Jamaica. Much to hot !!!
@@GerardBoer This particular species grows in hot weather
So wonderful ! This show the importance of land and water
Hello . As an apple farmer in south Korea, I didn't know apples can be grown and bearing in Kenya. I thought that most farmers of hot weather countries don't wanna farm apples. It's good to know that Kenya can have apple orchards.
Kenya has the highlands, which moderates the Weather on the Equator. Doesn't get too hot, also doesn't get that cold. Eternal Spring from parts of Meru to Nandi hills.
Thank you for teaching us useful things in our lives
From uganda pearl of Africa
How do I get the plants here in Nigeria
Am very proud to know that you have planted and generating the benefit. I am in Tanzania and would like to know how much you charge for ready siblings and more details on how you can sell and export to us in Mbeya
Co
Thanks for watching contact Catherine via WhatsApp number+254722284176
We have shipped to TZ before so it's possible

Most farmers has sentiment that apples can only grow in cold areas
Keep up the good work..Birds is a small tax of nature.
A very encouraging presentation for real. I like the fact that you recognized the vision and mission of your father, he just did what I thought doing for my kids and their kids to come, I have started planting apples in 2020 and they are doing very well I hope I will be able to harvest in few years to come. Many thanks from Namibia!
Which part of Namibia are you?
Weĺldone ladies. I will one day come to visit you guys. I am in London thinking of going home (Sierra Leone) to create employment for the youth. IJN . Thanks for sharing .God bless you.
come to Ghana pls
How right you are. Apples feed the world while coffee weeds the world of food and drink. Coffee feeds the greed of commerce, while apple creates wealth and enterprise. Well woken Africa. At last!
You can not grow apples in Sierra Leone ( not enough cold
Love to see such an optimistic and energized person.

Grows in the highlands. I grew up watching them grow in Kinangop. Even on the other side of the Aberdares (Kangema), they do well.
@@wejohn5877 why are they so expensive in Kenya then?
@@MrMaboboz elephant in the room. Good question
@@MrMaboboz most of the wambugu apple is exported. We then import the low quality from south africa
I did never see this apples in Holland. We have enough good tasting varieties in Holland like the good tasting apple variety "Elstar" !
Thank you for the information with respect to inter specie planting. Good to know that maize will spoil apple crops but that Pomegranate are great. May God continue to bless your work that you may bless your world. Blessings

Love❤️ From Dalhousie, Himachal Pradesh, India.
Hariman Sharma of Himachal Pradesh has also successfully developed low chiillling apple variety ie HRMN 99. He was awarded by Late Shri Pranab Mukherjee president of India.

A tip to pick apples, never pull or pluck the fruits just twist the fruit and plug tenderly.
Catherine Wambugu well done . What is the climate condition there? and how can one get the seeds
Chepchoina in kitale also grew apples and strawberries when the farm was managed by ADC.
