She is a runner with rare talent. The main thing I would say is for her to avoid injury. Hopefully she does not over train and is well balanced in all aspects....sleep, nutrition, etc.
I doubt she is rare where she comes from. Certain nations are only now exploring track and field. South Sudan has been involved in decades or war and displacement. When things stabilize the Kenyans and Ethiopians may find a competitor they cannot challenge.
Juantorena's stride is the most beautiful I've ever seen. Dude looks like he's floating, it's so effortless. I would've killed to have perfect form like that, zero wasted energy.
@@TryingToBeKind and the NCAA record time while also not only qualifying for the Olympic trials but meeting the Olympic qualifying standard and being the third fastest American this year. Simply unreal.

I was able to witness this record breaking run in person as I was at the West Preliminary Round competing in the men’s 400 Hurdles as well as the 4x400 relay. It was truly amazing. The sky is the limit for her as an athlete!
Hope she isn't over-raced come Olympic trials and the actual Olympics. As for a medal, her best chance is in the open 800 and 4x4 team with the latter her best chance at gold imo
I really hope that she stays healthy because it is known for college runners to become overtrained come the Olympics and the trials. You can only sustain a world-class form for a little bit of time It just takes a toll on your body. I also believe that she has a shot on the 4x4 but it worries me that she hasn't run an 800 in the last few months, otherwise I could see her making it in both pending schedule obstacles (like two prelims in the same day)
@@landonboomsma2594 yeah definitely, especially with that 400m. I have a teammate who runs 50 flat and he's done 1:55 solos very easily, so no doubt that she should be running 1:55, maybe even 1:54 with better competition.
@@David_USC why not, her 400m indicates that she can run much faster than a 1:57. For someone with as much speed and endurance as she has, her 800m is quite soft. Get her in a good, well paced race and she'll easily hit a 1:55.
@@ryu-ken Lol. Perhaps you need to watch more races before talking. The 200 must be what you're talking about (I hope you didn't mean the 100) with Lyles. Also one more thing to consider is that when Bolt ran he had the best competition in sprint history- Tyson, Asafa, Blake, Xavier Carter, Spearmon, Gatlin, Walter Dix and ran against them all when they were all at their peak one time or the other. Now? In terms of real raw all time lists? Only Coleman has run under 9.8 since 2015 and he's out for good. Back then we used to have a sub 9.8 every once in a while. Same arguments for 200 but it's obviously more possible than the 100m. No lies, Lyles is a god to be this fast so early, but a WR isn't in the books for him in 200 m at least not in Tokyo. He's done a 19.76 SB and a 19.50 PB but there's a MASSIVE difference from it and the 19.19.
I would agree but it worries me that she hasn't run an 800m in the past few months, I am hoping that she will run it though. I just hope that her 800 strength is still there. (It probably is shes at A&M)
Great Video again TRP. What a talent this young lady is! I think the 400m will be an easier less tactical affair than the 800m where age, international racing experience, running progressively faster rounds and tactics may work against the young phenom in the Olympics. That said, her flat 400m speed may also make the 800m that much easier for her because the opening lap will typically be around 8-10 seconds slower than her flat 400m best which will be an absolute jog for her. As always I also worry about her peaking too early for NCAA's then having to come back for the US Nationals and then the Olympics. Thats 3 separate peaks in one season.
I love to see these athlete's run. I've never been a runner, always wanted to be but I'm so slow that a toddler can outrun me. If i could run like this young lady, I'd never stop.
