I was so scared at first because I a) have been wanting to laminate my brows recently and b) my name is Helen so when this popped up in my subscriptions I was like “wow the panopticon is real!” Thank you for doing this for me (not really) ETA 8/29: i laminated my brows
You changed my brow game when you suggested the African Black soap! Much easier to work with than the Bronners I find, less residue. Forever grateful for that tip!
dude I don't like makeup channels but I can watch Alex forever😂 I wish I knew you in person, you're that type of best friend material😭💕 we love you oh and the brows are👌
Great tips! I had to learn all these the hard way through trial and error. Save yourself the experimentation and play through. Also, the lighter, ashy taupe tip for black hair is great for the reasons she mentioned, but also because the oils (yes, I even have oily brows, a lot of us with black brow hair probably do) will eventually oxidize the pencil/powder, making it even darker, which can end up looking way too black even against naturally black brow hairs
I've been using soap for brows for awhile but now I just use my strong hold hair gel (any will do), works so much better and way easier to use for me, never going back to soap and no need to buy extra products!
I use hair spiking glue… the stuff you use for making really high intense Mohawks. I bought a tube for less than 10$ and I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to use it all up… but it’s amazing, holds all hairs and stays in place all day, even a light dip in the pool is no match. Plus if u want to add Color to the hairs, just add a squirt to a pan and mix with some brown powder (eyeshadow or brow powder) and there u go, but I usually just dip a clean little dollar store spoiler right into the tube opening and go. Ive tried brow waxes, pomades and gels all made specifically for brows as well as a variety of soaps… and some do work better than others… but hair “spiking glue” is by far the best longest lasting and sooo affordable. Buy one tube and share with friends, you’ll still probably have to throw out the remainder and buy fresh in a year or two and not come close to running out 🙂
Dear Alexandra, please please please make a video about how to completely utterly totaly remove eye and under eye makeup! This is my biggest challenge in makeup so far. Even when I use a very nude eyeshadow, even without any mascara (I only use brow gel); it seems I always have residue which sinks in my undereye lines.
Thanks Helen 👀 also have you ever used like the elf clear brow gel that comes in the double ended container and also has clear mascara? It's actually way good (at least for me.) Its easy to work with and it FREEZES my brows. It used to be like 1$ but ofc this year it's gone up to 3$. But it works especially good for me bc I have eyebrows the color of fishing line so I have to first put colored brow gel on and then the clear elf. It doesn't make the first layer of colored gel move and it makes it last (even if I take a nap!) I don't wear foundation so idk if it would mess with that
Bought the same products, tried the technique 5 times as a daily for my “clean girl” work look & while I haven’t gotten the technique down quite yet, I’m loooooving the results so far. Wish I could post pictures here 🥹
Luv the tutorial, my struggle is getting balanced brow shape. You have great shape to yours. My other issue is I now have white hair in my brows that I’m trying to cover or do I pluck them out. Isn’t aging just lovely 😩
Wet and wild has this product that’s supposed to set your brows I think it’s called browssense anyway they have tinted ones, I started going grey young (like 20’s) in a bunch of colors. They aren’t great for hold but the color is. Or you can use a little bit of mascara as long as it’s waterproof and you go in with a brush it will cover.
Brow tint kits from Sally's are a life saver! Lol I started getting grays in my 20s (early 40s now) but I've been tinting them for years! I don't mess with the hairs on my head, I say let em grow and let em go lol but white brows looked odd on my greenish pale skin hahaa it's super easy to do and lasts a decent time.
i have soft black hair and i use the illamasqua brow gel (it's like a gel pomade) in slate to fill them if i need to add intensity without pulling focus
My fav products for laminated brows are: 24hr brow setter Nyx brow pen Nyx microbrow pencil I draw in, then laminate, then draw little hairs with my pen:)
Dig it. I use Dr Bonners cuz of your recommendations. It works good but I haven't gotten the technique down. My eyebrows don't like to do what they are told. Thanks for the tutorial girl.
Not a single thing (aside from a straight up glue stick) will keep my brows down for the laminated look! Brow Freeze/Brow Lift/soap is great for a quick photo, but within 30 minutes, my brows have completely fallen. I've realized it's because I have very oily skin, and the oil my skin is producing is just breaking down the product. If anyone else has faced the same issue and has a solution, please let me know! The glue stick works fine enough (thanks for the tip, drag!), but it makes applying foundation a bit of a task if you're not super meticulous about cleaning the brow area after.
Hi! After using your brow product, "set" it hairspray. Don't spray directly on your eyebrow, but instead spray it on the spoolie, then sweep it on your brows. The hairspray I'm using is one for Asian Men's hair, (asian men have coarser pin-straight hair strands) which tend to not make hair strands crispy, but make it not move no matter what. lol
I have despised the laminated brow look on everyone! But the way you did it, makes me want to give it a go 😂 I think people don't trim the hairs so they are too long to begin with, and they don't angle the tail, so it looks unnatural.
Hey! Alex, please check out SCHWARZKOPF GOT2B GLUED! It's AWESOME. I've been using this product for a year now and the tube is not even half empty. Don't know why no one's talking about it, but it is obviously cheaper and better than any brow gel or soap. Love your channel 🥰
I agree! I’ve been using this for a few years for my brows. Nothing else I’ve used works as well. It can get a little messy sometimes, but seriously works like a charm. My brows seriously stay in place for several hours until I wash my makeup off at night. And it washes off very easy as well.
YES! I've been doing this years now with the massive 150ml tube and it lasts forever! I noticed schwarzkopf started making a dedicated got2b eyebrow gel but whyyyy get that if you can get the hairgel at a fraction of the price!
I’ve been rocking laminated brows for a few months now I started using the elf but after 4 maybe 5 months it started looking milky 🤷♀️ and abh was having a sale at the time so I bought that one rather than replacing the elf. My brows aren’t that thick so I don’t notice a difference between the two so when the abh runs out I’ll go back to elf, for elfs price I don’t mind replacing it every 3 or so months if I have to.
one of my brows has just recently developed a cowlick, so am thinking I need to try this, even if I just sleep in it to try to retrain it. 😛. whenever I try to fill in sparse sections, I'll be doing great and then will get one too thick or globby section, that I can't seem to fix w/out destroying the rest
I have a rogue hair in my left brow. That sucker drives me crazy and I don’t know what it’s problem is. Earlier today, I’d had it! It’s about mid-brow and refused to lay down. I mean this sucker stuck straight out…like it was trying to be an eyelash instead of an eyebrow! I plucked it!😂 I rarely pluck any that are in the middle but I was fed up. (Curious to see if it grows back and if it does, will it stick straight out again.🤷🏻♀️😂)
My right brow has hairs like this nothing sticks them down I use a tiny bit of eyelash glue to stick that bit down but only a little cos u can't draw on top of the glue hardly but it works
Thank You so much Alex! Only video that used laminating gel with Brow Powder. Seems like my brow powder still moves around. Am I applying to much powder?
thank you as a teen i had thicker than brook shields brows in the 80s(for both her & i ) & ever time i plucked id get huge bumps the nibblins i had. they get same thing, idk why their moms have argued about trimming its nice to hear someone agree with me.at first i thought, they thought i meant shaving but nope even trimming is out of bounds for them
I love this! But any suggestions for thick brows that have like NO color! Also missing a bunch if hairs on the front of the brow… I basically use a brow pen to draw fake hair next to my nose…
If you get your brows waxed you can ask them to trim your brows. Or when you get a haircut. Anytime mine were trimmed it was in that setting because I’m legit terrified (I shaved on off my accident in hs, scarred me for life lol).
I know the laminated look is very in, and I love how it looks on other people, but it just doesn't seem to suit me! I will give your tips a try and see if I can make it work for me somehow. Thanks!
Thank you so much for this in depth video! I’m the one with straight black bushy brows (but I dye them a soft brown to match my hair), their length is always a problem, so I’m no stranger to trimming. I’ve used soap before but it always seemed to make the colour a bit darker? Was just about to place an order for this ELF product along with their brush. So it’s come in very handy! I also use the NYX pens (in taupe and blonde), but somehow my taupe is very different from your taupe, even though I use a light hand, maybe they placed the tag wrong..? 😕 They always end up darker than they need to, but hopefully I’ll get better results now - and once I have everything on hand!
Hi, pretty please could you tell how you lighten your brows? If you do it yourself? I only ever see darker tints, rather than lighter. I'd really like to match my brows to hair though..
@@mhunter9982 Well, I live in Eastern Europe, so I don’t know if I can recommend any brand since it may not be available. Basically you place an order on a site that sells professional supplies for salons (the sort where you can find hair brushes, blow dryers, face masks, nail varnish and all this other stuff), I’m pretty sure you can find something of the sort. I actually order two different small tubs of dye (specifically formulated for brow hair! please don’t try and use other dyes!) and they last me ages. One is for going directly to blonde hair - I think it may have some bleach - and one is a softer shade of brown; and of course and a smaller oxidizer bottle that has a very small opening to make sure you only get out one drop at a time. It will probably depend on the brand you’ll buy but I really recommend this kind of bottles/tubs. The easiest way is to use the blonde first: you mix according to instructions and leave them on for about 10 minutes. You apply it with a Q-tip and you take it off with a cotton pad soaked in warm water. After that you make another mixture of the brown dye and the oxidizer and you leave it on for far less (maybe 2-4 minutes?) since colour really holds now and you may end up with dark brows again. I find my specific products are not strong enough for my coarse brow hair in order to use just the soft brown concoction directly, although I have tried that - but you have to leave it on for a long time and the difference is not that impactful, I have really light brown hair (almost a dark blonde). It may sting a bit at first but I haven’t had any irritation or inflammation whatsoever, and I’m the kind that get spots if I get my brows waxed at the salon. Which is why I decided to do this by myself in the first place. 😅 Sorry for the reaaaally long comment but I hope I could be of some help! ✨
Hi! I've tried this today, I thought it was really nice but the Elf gel doesn't fix my black thick hair for more than one minute ^^' no problem, I just wanted to try the lamination thrill XD and I can use it to help me trim my eyebrows, anyway! - edit: no wait wait waittt I tried twice, and maybe using a bit more of it I can... maybe... I will keep trying :D
Definitely needed this. I have thick brows that have an agenda all of their own. Have to do something about it or I end up looking like an angry sesame street character.
You showed a picture of an influencer on another video of yours where she had laminated her natural SUPER long and bold brows.....BUT I CAN'T FIND THE VIDEO NOW!!! Who was she, which video did you try her brow product??? Keep up the content on how to work with different levels of expertise and dimensions, love it!
I should've gotten the elf brow lift before i got the ABH one :/ ABH brow freeze was a complete waste of money for me i just can't use it. It NEVER dries down until like 30 minutes later after my brows have completely fallen back down into their original position. My $1 pears soap is still my winner
hey, any advice in reguards to brow pens. I always see people using the in tutorials and I have bought a few different kinds and they just never seem to go onto my skin I can't explain it, like I got the benefit one and online it looks to apply with ease, but quite often barely any ink comes out or it doesn't stick to my skin/brow.... do you have any advice on how to make it work better for me? Because I want to make fine hair like strokes I thought this would be great option, but having to stick with wax/powder and gel for now...

Helen doing the Lord’s work with this request
I feel like people don’t do brow tutorials that often anymore so this was much appreciated!
You changed my brow game when you suggested the African Black soap! Much easier to work with than the Bronners I find, less residue. Forever grateful for that tip!
Woah I must try this
I missed this tip, and I want IN!! Doin it.
This is Helen. Thx for the shout out.
Thanks for the great tips! I know that eyebrows are "Sisters and not twins." Mine are more like "Cousins twice removed." 🤨
Girl this is such a vibe

🤣🤣🤣🤣

I didn't know that oily brows (and underbrows in my case) were typical of black brow hair! °_°
Laughed out loud when you said „this makes me look way too surprised 😳“ that face after 😂

I've been using soap for brows for awhile but now I just use my strong hold hair gel (any will do), works so much better and way easier to use for me, never going back to soap and no need to buy extra products!

started using a clean toothbrush solely for eyebrow gel/wax, makes nice brows in like only a few seconds!! ty always alex
Sweet! I can't quite get my brows right, can't wait to try this. Bronners leaves a bit too much residue when I get the right hold.
Used this technique today and my brows looked amazing! Thanks showing this how to!
I’m so glad you did this video. Helped me to understand more of what to do.. ❤️
I been using got 2 b glued to gel my brows I LOVE IT
I'm in this boat, learning for the first time.

Great tutorial! Loving your technique !
I don’t necessarily want my eyebrows to stick to my face but they grow straight out from my face and I hate that. I’m going to try this. Thank you!
Okay my extremely sparse brows made me give up on this look but I'm gonna try again 😁
Dig it. I use Dr Bonners cuz of your recommendations. It works good but I haven't gotten the technique down. My eyebrows don't like to do what they are told. Thanks for the tutorial girl.
Thank you I love this tutorial!
💖💖💖 Perfect timing! I was just thinking about how you do your brows the other day :-)... Thank You!
Thank you so much! I was so badly looking for this look!
show us how you groom your eyebrows!
I just tried this and my brow hairs are so many different lengths it looks like a 📈📉so I have to work on that. Great video thanks for sharing
I don't know if it's just because we're (you're) zoomed in on a white background, but I never noticed how big your eyes are and omg they are lovely!
Omg this the most helpful video

Same. I use the got2b spiking glue and it works like wonders but it’s the same issue to clean
I have the opposite mine stuck up all the time I’ve tried soap and glue etc they still go from a nice fine curve to rabbits in the light with hands up
I have the same problem. The Patrick Ta is the only one that comes even close to working but it gets goopy in the container rather quickly.

Thanks. A really clear tutorial. The title freaked me out because my name is helen....
I laughed so hard at your “way too surprised” comment 😂😂
hey, any advice in reguards to brow pens.
