Laura when you get back you sould build 16'X24' House, then insulate, put your wireing in place, plumbing n place, metal roof,make a spot for Porta potti so you can pull the casette out and dump it, you will have to find a spot to dump or install a tank in the ground with a field, you can get all this info on building at the locale Library and the Building Yard should have all the books for building with wood, not that stuff you used on the outhouse.

I’m on my second poly tunnel cover, I’ve learnt by my mistakes🎉. I have 6 screw in stakes not the spiral ones these are 12” long with a flat screw at the base , then I put 3 wide ratchet straps over it making sure they were not tight just secure. Been 3 years and still there and as we live in a valley we get winds a lot, the galvanised base is buried along with the bottom of the plastic and I made a wood door and frame instead of those weak zips. From other chanels i watch, Portugal has had a huge amount of rain, really heavy stuff too. Not the normal amount that Portugal gets in winter. It has brought the land back to life. X
Congratulations on getting married! We are very similar in circumstances to you. We are moving to Spain next year to live off grid but just waiting for the house to sell. We also bought a Mitsubishi L200! And I think we were scammed! We have had it 6 months and it’s spent over a month in the garage and it’s about given me a nervous breakdown. It’s so bad, and I think the MOT on it was dodgy. Did you get it from Willans Road Car Sales in Dewsbury by any chance? Lol :-) we have now bought Mercedes Benz sprinter van instead. Truck not sorted yet but hopefully will get it returned and refunded. So stressful. Oh also we just got married a couple of months ago too! Mostly for getting the paperwork sorted hahah :-)

Thanks so much! haha it sounds like we're living parallel lives 😆 Apparently the whole underside chassis of the L200's isn't rust protected so they're known for corrosion which was the issue with ours. Sprinter vans are super reliable we love ours! We went for the Ford Ranger for our new truck, it was much more expensive but we weren't willing to risk it with another L200. Thanks, didn't look at the date as only found your videos other day and just wanted to help you out as my experience is in decades not a couple of years so you eve need help or advice on anything from growing to weather or building, then don't be afraid to ask. you can even call in anytime you like and see my place. Not as badly run down but still needed plenty of work to make it livable. I would guess that you are in the Castelo Branco area I just the otherside of the big mountain which I can see from the kitchen window

I'm in the process of relocating to central PT too and I'm interested in your experience with importing your pick-up as I've had no luck finding a suitable vehicle in PT.
I assume you are PT residents by now, or, at least on the way. How do you plan to bring a vehicle to PT that you haven't owned for six months in the UK? I understand that if you are not a resident you can't keep the vehicle in PT for longer than 90 days (maybe less?), you can't sell it in PT and nobody else can drive it. If you are resident you have to pay duty on it and re-register it within 20 days of its entry into PT. I'm told the duty demanded by PT is prohibitively expensive and the paperwork and checks a real pain, so how have you handled this?
Also, what are your feelings on driving a RHD in a LHD country where carpark barriers, toll booths etc are on the "wrong" side? I'd be interested to know how you are finding it.

Hope you guys are having a lovely Christmas, and enjoying being back on the farm. Watching your recent video, about the truck issues, it occurred to me that you might have inadvertently given yourselves another headache, buying a RHD truck in the UK.
I'm pretty sure I've seen on other Portugal-based You Tubers channels that getting a RHD UK-reg car imported into Portugal can be an absolute nightmare. It's why they've all bought Portugese reg LHD trucks, like ancient Nissan 720s. It's also why trucks are SOOOO expensive in Portugal.
I can't remember which channel I saw this on, but pretty sure it was 'The Indie Projects', so maybe reach out to Bea and Theo and ask what the issues were. They had a VW Jetta that was too much drama to get imported into Portugal, so they bought a Nissan truck. And pretty sure same thing happened for Guy and Kylie over on 'Make. Do. Grow'.
It may mean you have to go back to the UK every year for an MOT and rego.....which won't be cheap.
Sorry if this is a bother, but definitely reach out to someone and get some advice from people in Portugal. I think the big issue is import taxes or duties or something like that (i.e. big expense) not that it is impossible. And it may have changed due to Brexit, so take what I've said above with a pinch of salt till you can check it for yourselves.

I recommend you switch to 4WD each time you turn onto your driveway, otherwise you'll make the road worse very quickly (and may get stuck)
I think the seatbelts in the bunk beds are just meant to hold the sheets in place when the bunks are up.
Weld a two pols front of car up. Steal frame front to back. In Australia we all do. Store much more on your long trip.
