- Blisteringly hot violin solo by Dezi Donnelly, when the brilliant Sharon Shannon and her band headlined the annual Fleadh Cheoil Irish music festival (this year based in Cavan) on Sunday August 21st, 2010. Sharon makes virtuosity look so easy, delivering music with the same warmth as her lovely smile.
The town was full to capacity, when Sharon performed, with many people listening from a distance, down 'packed' streets. There were so many people in the town (organizers mentioned 85,000), that the show ended early to ensure safety of music fans. Here, Sharon performs the wonderful 'James Brown's March' by Manchester musician Mike Mc Goldrick, followed by a reel by Charlie Lennon.
From Sharon's website: Sharon has recorded and toured with....Bono, Adam Clayton, Sinead O'Connor, Jackson Browne, John Prine, Steve Earl, Mark Knopfler, The Chieftains, The Waterboys, Willie Nelson, Nigel Kennedy, Alison Krauss, and Shane Mc Gowan...
Featuring:
Sharon Shannon: Accordion
Dezi Donnelly: violin
Jack Maher: electric guitar
Jim Murray: acoustic guitar

From Wikipedia:
The Fleadh Cheoil (Festival of Music) is an Irish music competition run by Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann (CCÉ).
There are various stages to the competition. In Ireland there are county and provincial competitions leading to the All-Ireland Fleadh. In Britain there are regional then national stages of qualification for the All-Ireland. Competitions are divided into the following age categories: under 12, 12-15, 15-18, and over 18 (senior).
The first national festival of Irish traditional music was held in Mullingar in 1951. At its inaugural meeting in September 1951, CCÉ came up with the title of Fleadh Cheoil, aiming to make this a great national festival of traditional music. The fleadh has been held in many different venues.
In the years that followed, the number of would-be competitors grew so large that qualifying stages had to be arranged at county and provincial level. Since then, Fleadh Nua (the new fleadh), Fleadh na Breataine (an All-Britain fleadh) and regional fleadhanna in Britain, and two major fleadhanna in the USA have also become annual CCÉ events.
From its beginning, the goal of the Fleadh Cheoil was to establish standards in Irish traditional music through competition. The Fleadh developed as a mainly competitive event, but it also included many concerts, céilíthe, parades, and sessions.
Today, nearly 50 years on, fleadhanna at each level provide a platform and a meeting place for the thousands of musicians (around 20,000 performers compete in fleadhanna each year), singers and dancers who carry on the tradition.

The two of those songs played from 7:58 and the one played after it have no names, they were just both played together and called the blackbird..So neither songs are called the blackbird, its the 2 of them together :)
There are names to these tunes, I am pretty sure, but I can’t dredge them up at the moment. When they come to me, I will try to recall why it was I wanted to remember them and get back to you.................thank the google gods and the session website!.....
First tune in blackbird set is Padraig O’Keefe’s slide segueing into the Happy One Step, a Cajun tune.
Or maybe you already know this, it has been 9 years, after all. Still a great set, though
that it some mean fiddlin' !!
remember the crowd of kids at the barrier ?
The Blackbird
hey whats the name of the song at 7:58 ?
Ceol binn aoibhinn bríomhar mar de ghnách. Agus go hiomlán gan dordghiotár.
Sound by panic hire.
