I find the work of Dr. Peterson so wonderful. His scholarship in interpreting both Hebrew and Greek over twelve years for his own congregation has benefitted all of us by helping the ancient scriptures, the story of God, come alive in English. I love the idea that our salvation is an invitation into God's largeness. What a beautiful gift!
Will there be a verse for verse version of the Message Bible?
Already there..if you mean with verse numbers
@@supersmart671 I mean each verse being its own paragraph. Instead of having one verse alone and then having two verses together.
@@davidrossman919 Oh, ok. I am not aware of such an edition
@@supersmart671 I don’t believe there is a verse by verse message bible. I wish there was.
Eugene actually wanted no verse numbers at all, as the original writings of course weren't broken up that way. He felt that our modern number divisions artificially broke up the narrative and flow, perhaps subconsciously shaping us to think of Scripture as something that can be broken into pieces and torn apart (like math or a science experiment) when Scripture is a grand story of God's action in the world. He lost that battle with the publisher, and the compromise was numbered verse sections. It's a little harder to find a spot sometimes, but I think Eugene was write about how the divisions do shape us to look at the Bible differently.
This is very disturbing. Saved, salvation means deliverance, not spacious as in a prairie, but space as in delivered. I’m very concerned about this man’s way of thinking and I feel it is blasphemous to call his rewriting Gods Holy Spirit inspired words as ‘Gods word”. This man changed way too many truths that simply do not come anywhere close to what was really said.
Calm down. It’s a paraphrase
